Even with ENB and enhanced lighting mods, as well as COT and 2K HD texture packs, I can run Skyrim at 1920x1200 on max settings, and never dip under 30fps, usually maintaining around 60 or more.

"One thing I don't like about large mp counts. Contribution isn't felt as much which then just becomes casual play."

- Exactly. It seems many of the naysayers on here concerning the player count, are basing their opinions on personal preference, specifically the notion that "bigger is better" and that "more = next-gen," whether it be resolution, frames, and now apparently, even player count...

They have mods for that as well.. everything from unofficial patches, to increased AI intelligence for followers and enemies, to more difficult combat, to completely overhauled game mechanics, like more in depth crafting systems, added quests and NPC's, more in-depth skill trees as well as completely new ones, etc. You can mod Skyrim so heavily, that is essentially plays and feels like a completely new ES game.

The ES games have always been a...

That being said, Online games typical counter server issues on launch day, regardless of genre or developer. It has become pretty common to expect (regardless if they occur or not) some type of server-based issue for games like this, yet every time a new game is announced, articles like this crop up, treating the game in question l...

I keep hearing this talk of the PS4 version of games being the "better" version. Not only is this a vague statement, it is also not accurate as to what is being implied, and also subjective.

People need to choose their words more carefully and say what they mean, which would be claiming that the PS4 version would be the the better LOOKING version, which is also subjective.

The "better" version of a game, is the one a player prefers, regar...

Define "failure." Seems as though you are talking in business terms, which simply do not concern a number of gamers. I'd like to think that those who purchased an X1, are not basing their level of enjoyment it gives them on how well or not it is selling, in the same regard how those with WiiU's and Vita's enjoy their devices, regardless how things are fairing from a sales/business perspective.

That being said, The X1 is fairing well, just not as well as...

from the article:

"...he did have some major concerns with the gameplay. Notably, the ease with which the artificial intelligence can be killed (and thusly, abused to get Titans faster),"

- There is obviously not a clear understanding as to the function of the AI in the game, since using or "farming" the AI for points and decreasing your Titan cooldown, is one of their intended functions. Nothing is getting abused, it's working as int...

the chatpad is a poor man's keyboard. The buttons are small and packed tightly together, and still doesn't give you all the functionality of a keyboard, like the lack of a proper numpad.

I personally can't stand the chatpad, because of reasons mentioned, which goes hand-in-hand in why I really don't like texting on phones. typing should be done with all the fingers, not just thumbs - it feels awkward, from both a personal standpoint and an ergonomic one.

I see a "three bears" scenario going on here - the sharpening filter was too much, the removal of it is too little, where's the just right? The "washed out" blurry look reminds me of how BF4 on PS4 looked vs X1 in the comparison vids.

Regardless of the PS4's higher res, The xbox version of that game is visibility sharper/crisper: ...

You are speaking about core class functionality, which is hardly all there is to an MMO interface. When I played Wow, I had dozens of icons onscreen at any given time, and that's not even counting my class skills. Then you get into other actions like targets and targets targets, and selecting party members to heal/assist, and pets and macros, etc. and many times you are activating skills/items while doing those other actions.

As I stated, a contr...

Different engine. Different developers. Which helps to strengthen Testfire's argument.

If you want to look at if from the other side, look at Naughty Dog. They didn't develop those games looking so good because they had a kickass engine and butt loads of power to use - they did it because they are exceptional at using the tools they have at their disposal.

Aww man, you got us... all the reasons people got an X1, from exclusives, to playing with friends, to the new kinect, to the new features it offers and all those who are happy with their purchase, you just voided all of them with the dreaded "static trees" argument...

I remember playing Forza and thinking how nice I thought the game looked, especially the cars, but know that I think of it ::the term "static trees" whispers through my head:: nah, that game...

"Piracy is someone literally stealing a game by methods normally shunned upon."

- Except piracy is literally NOT stealing...

Stealing (theft) involves taking the property/possession of another, without permission or right, and making it your own.

Piracy is the duplication of software, and although people may not have the right to do so, nothing is being stolen - the original remains intact. It's like i...

Destiny is more than a shooter...oh, excuse us, it's a "BIG" shooter... If Planetside2 is classified as a shooter, (an mmoFPS) Destiny doesn't get any special treatment...

That being said, Destiny is one of my most anticipated games.

You point out one game and suddenly my whole point is debunked... try harder.

For your logic to make sense, the game would have to be designed with both PC and consoles in mind, meaning compromises could need to be made that could impact game design. Ex: D3 lends itself well to controllers - the game's mechanics lend itself well to controllers. Diablo 2 - not so much.

Take a game like WoW or EQ, and enlighten me how simple it would be to design a UI that ...

I've played the beta, and the game itself is fine - it has what you'd expect from an MMO. However, one big thing that stood out to me was that it didn't feel like I was playing an ES MMO. Everything's there - the races, the locales, the lore, etc. but it felt like I was playing a different game set in the ES universe, rather than playing an ES game.

I don't know if it's the art direction or aesthetic or what, but it just felt "off." It didn&#...

In a lot of cases, controller support just isn't practical. A lot of MMO's have tons of options for the player, and take full advantage of the point and click nature of the mouse, and the tons of buttons keyboards have.

In this sense, if you were to offer controller support in an environment like this, you'd, likely need to design an entirely separate UI just for controllers, and even then, they would likely be so unintuitive, it wouldn't be worth the effort....
