Sony has over 20 "trump cards". These cards are commonly known as "exclusive developers who push your gaming hardware to the limit".
Microsoft, start paying attention.
@ people who liked Lost Odyssey's storyline
Definitely try out "Planescape: Torment" or "Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn" on PC, especially Planescape.
Planescape is pretty much a better, more mature version of Lost Odyssey with a better storyline that stays good throughout the entire game.
Lost Odyssey was incredible...for the first two disks. For those first two disks, LO was definitely the best RPG this gen, IMO (yes, even better than Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect, etc). But after Disk Two, the storyline completely fell apart. Every plot point was telegraphed. Every emotion was forced. If there's a LO2, I hope they make the storyline awesome from start to finish, not from start to the middle.
If we're talking about games (remember, movies don't matter! At least, that's what we're told every time someone brings up the PS3's Blu Ray player), PSN is far ahead of the 360. It has bigger games, more AAA games, and more "full games" like Siren, Burnout, Warhawk, SOCOM, and Wipeout HD.
Dreams of Bioshock 2 being a timed exclusive: shattered.
Microsoft? Assemble their own studio? Surely you jest when buying exclusive DLC is only $50 million away.
Eh, I'm joking, but seriously...
Though it seems highly unlikely that Sony would take over the Madden franchise, "MLB: The Show" is proof enough that they would make it into a game that's actually worth playing every year.
Good article. It's definitely nice to see someone call out "industry analysts" on their BS.
2010 at the earliest.
I can't wait for this game. Played/beat it on 360 and loved it. Played/beat it on PC and loved it even more. ME2 will certainly be a hit.
Just tighten up those framerate drops and texture pop-in for the console version, Bioware. ;^)
Riiiiight. Did they forget that this game will be out in Japan as a PS3-exclusive for a full year before the 360 version hits?
Leave it to Microsoft to spout off about a multiplatform game. They say they sold more of RE5, but the game has been out for what...a week? Last time they spouted off about a multiplatform game selling more on the 360 was GTA4, and look how that turned out (R* confirmed both versions sold the same amount).
It's funny that Microsoft has resor...
Send me a memo when company profits become more important than reliable hardware...
"how shocked were you when you found out Snake had been replaced by a whiny, white haired emo kid?"
Eh, that's a good question. I felt about the same amount of shock when my cool Final Fantasy protagonist was replaced by a whiny, white-haired emo kid named "Cloud Strife", yet everyone seems to praise that game...
But I thought Zephyr...no, Falcon....no, Jasper fixed the problem?
Fable II was bad. It was full of glitches, boring quests, and a TERRIBLE ending. Plus, the whole promise of "industry-changing co-op" (according to Molyneux) ended up being complete BS.
With that said, the article does seem to be fishing for hits. Fable II, Halo 3, and Smash Bros Brawl were all mega-hyped games released in the last two years. Why was Brawl disappointing? I'm not a Brawl fan by any means, but I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Why was Halo 3 disappo...
I agree with the review.
I am dumbfounded and a bit angry at all of the reviews out there giving the game scores of 9/10 and higher. Those reviewers are lying to gamers. This game is pathetic, not only after playing better horror games since RE4 (like Bioshock and Dead Space), but it's also a step backwards for the RE franchise.
And I'd like to point out that many of the issues in RE5 (poor enemy and partner AI, weak storyline, bad controls, etc) were completely igno...
VGchartz?
I lulz at you, VGchartz.
No doubt. This game was made by CAPCOM of all people! Oh, the days when movie tie-ins and tie-ins from TV shows didn't automatically make a game suck.
And you gotta love the music from The Moon level...
I have yet to see the "Wii fanboys" become vocal. As of yet, the most I've heard is when Smash Bros Brawl was getting less-than-10/10 scores from some websites, but that's it.
It's mostly the "360 vs PS3" crowd, which isn't surprising. When you have people in charge of PR acting like internet fanboys (like Aaron Greenburg) it's no big surprise to see the fanbase acting the same way.
I believe Mario Kart and Wii Play are also "better" games based on sales, too.
It seems that the Wii has the best games this generation!
Three reasons why console JRPGs are failing:
- Most next-gen JRPGs are tied to the 360. Think what you want, but the 360 is not branded as a JRPG system
- Almost every next-gen JRPG has been crap. The highest-rated console JRPG this gen is Valkyria Chronicles. Most other JRPGs barely score above an 80/100
- There is a higher quantity and higher quality of JRPGs available on the handheld systems and on the PS2
It's that simple. If certain com...
