The general media has run out of remotely legitimate things to hate the PS3 for (lack of games, PSN, etc), so now they've all become financial advisers.
Skip the games. Skip the online content. It's all about TEH PROFFFIT MARGIN and TEH INSTALLED BASE and TEH ATTACH RATEZ!!!
I'd do it if the games were L4D, Mass Effect, Fallout 3....pretty much ANYTHING except Halo 3 and Fable 2.
It seems Microsoft would rather invest in a smear campaign (once again out of so many times) against its competition than trumpeting its own lineup and capabilities.

The difference is that Mac vs PC commercials tend to have actual facts thrown in there to poke fun at. This commercial boiled down to "You be a child if u use a Mac LOLOLOLOL!"
@ Mooks
So let me get this straight...you'd rather take some small additional features for 360 multiplat games than "inferior" versions of those same games plus exclusives? You think the 360 was "just taking the win" in Q1 when all it had was slightly better multiplat games? You DO realize that all of those multiplat games are also available on the PS3, right? That's why they're called "multiplat".
You're not a gamer. You would rather ta...
Gamers will be very happy if Gran Turismo 5 launches this year....but does the PS3 NEED GT5? No way. PS3 has plenty of games this year.
Multiplats are a "better experience" due to non-gaming features? Enlighten me. Maybe I'm just TOOOOO much of a casual gamer to understand your superior perspective, but everything you mentioned that is supposedly superior on the 360 has nothing to do with gaming. If you had mentioned the exclusive GTA4 DLC that would have made sense, because it's related to gaming, but you didn't.
When I think of a game being supposedly superior on one console or another, I usually am t...
Just wait until GDC '09.
Just wait until E3 '09.
Heck, just wait until 2010 if you want something for your 360.
Didn't PS3 and Wii owners get mocked for saying "just wait" when they were getting started? Oh, I believe the phrase that applies to this situation is "sweet irony".
All I gotta say is that Microsoft needs to show us the goods. Talking about mysterious, magical, upcoming game lineups is quite different than act...
This is 100% true. I was a Gamestop asst. store manager in MI for a year a while back.
Don't blame the individual stores. This is actually a lazy policy handed down by the district managers and above. Instead of sending us case art for each game that would cost pennies, they want us to gut copies of new games (often 2-4 copies of new games to put multiple facings on the shelf), and as a customer you're simply expected to take it as "business as usual".

Looks clever, but I'm sorry. Source needs to be overhauled or put out to pasture. This isn't 2006. Games need to look better than this.
Funny how MS's mantra (and the battle cry of 360 owners) is "Just you wait! Just wait until GDC...er...E3 and then Microsoft will prove all you haters wrong!!!!"
It's funny because PS3 owners were mocked for saying the exact same thing in 2007, even to the point of getting labeled as owners of the "Waitstation 3" or "DelayStation 3".
Funny how it was ALL about "teh exclusives!!!" in 2006 and 2007 with the 360 but once 2008 roll...
Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft are all making plenty of mistakes with their platforms. My only concern is about how many things they're doing RIGHT, and with that being the case, Sony is doing plenty right with the PS3, making it quite easy to overlook the few minor mistakes.
Weak third party support? Nope. That's false.
Slow firmware updates? Is he kidding? PS3 updated three times as often as the Wii and 360.
This article is stuck in late 2007.
Yeah. I'm not so sure about this whole "highly anticipated" thing. That's an insult to 360 gamers if THIS game is considered "highly anticipated".
Tri-Ace's track record this gen has been terrible, but with a new publisher perhaps they will do better.
Here's the funny thing: in 3 to 6 months, the DSi probably WILL play UMDs (or some of the low-end ones) through emulation.
I don't care what Nintendo says about the DSi having better protection against piracy. With built-in memory AND an SD slot, that DSi is going to get hacked in the blink of an eye.
Yep. I saw this coming from a mile away. Shame on all you who defended CAPCOM when they announced this DLC saying "Buh buh buh buh buh they must have done it last minute! That's why they couldn't fit it on the disk!"
Skip you, CAPCOM and skip your selfish DLC policies. I had respect for you but you're losing it quickly.
The PSP is awesome, and so is the DS. Handhelds have 75% of the best games on the market right now (IMO). I'm definitely getting the DSi and when a new PSP eventually comes out, I'll buy that, too.
The PSP haters need to give some respect. PSP is the first non-Nintendo handheld to do reasonably well in direct competition to a Nintendo handheld. 50 million worldwide sales for the PSP is fantastic. Why trash it? It's a great system.
And let's be serious: would you rat...
XBLA games are pretty expensive, but many of the expensive ones (like Flock) are also on PSN and they are pretty much the same price.
To me, it's a different matter: why spend $20 or $30 on a couple XBLA games like Flock or Braid when you can buy full games like Wipeout HD or Siren on PSN for the same price?
This is probably fake...
BUT the 360 has had many instances of games being leaked early or pirated. If this game (supposed to be one of the system's biggest titles this year) has already been pirated....wow.
It sends a big signal to developers if one of the 360's biggest games has already been pirated.
Like I said, this is probably fake, BUT if it's true....oh man.
Yup. That's why Microsoft focuses so much on their Arcade unit. "$200 for a 360! $200 for a 360!" Yet everyone with a brain knows that it'll be at least $100 more to get the basic 360 experience (XBox Live and saving your games). It's smart marketing, but it's a big middle finger to the gamers out there.
