Monster Hunter is without a doubt one of Capcom's best game franchise (and one of their most overlooked).
Seriously. Get a group of four people together, each with a PSP and a copy of MHF2 and tell me with a straight face that the game isn't fun or addictive. I had 475+ hours put into MHF2 until I transferred my save file over to 2ndG (Freedom Unite)...now I'm 100 hours into 2nd G and still going strong.
Eh, that kinda sucks. I remember the good ol' Bioware days of free DLC for Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate, not to mention the thousands upon thousands of fan-made campaigns and add-ons.
Lets not forget the fact that NG2 was certainly NOT the best game in the series. More weapons and enemies? Yeah, but tons of glitches and slowdowns to go along with it, not to mention the terrible camera.
I want to see some news about this game! We've haven't even seen any footage of the 360 version yet.
This level editor is cool, but it doesn't matter if the game isn't even out. And will the editor be available for the 360 version, too?
I loved RF and RF2, but I'm not sure this game will be any good. Destructible environments don't make a game fun to play (necessarily). So far, all I've seen in RF: Guerrilla is a big tech demo. It kinda reminds me of Fracture and SW: Force Unleashed....cool ideas, but terrible execution.
I don't care about what IS or ISN'T possible. All I see is what currently IS. And what IS right now? There IS a 60-player lag-free multiplayer game on PSN, and there ISN'T an equivalent on LIVE. There IS a 4-player online platformer with over 750,000 custom levels on PS3, and there ISN'T anything on LIVE with that grade of user-generated content. There IS a 32-player FPS with (according to dozens of reviews) the best graphics on consoles that runs lag-free, and there ISN'T an equivalent on LI...
It's a start for hacking the PS3. This is how people started hacking the PSP since the earliest firmwares were the easiest to hack (although nowadays you don't downgrade your firmware on PSP. You simply upload a custom firmware).
It's QUITE a ways away from playing burned PS3 games or homebrew or anything like that, but like I said...it's a start.
Stuff like this just goes to show how the media is stacked against the PS3, despite any progress or improvements it makes.
Some random post promises some features, and then Sony gets slammed when it doesn't deliver on something they never promised. Kotaku blows Sony's "OMFG! Super amazing announcement!" on Tuesday way out of proportion, and when Sony simply announces a price drop for the PS2, these same sites shake their heads and say "Oh Sony. You keep disappointi...
Call me a skeptic, but I don't see this going too well.
UE3 looks dated. Why use UE3 in this comparison when the Rage engine is out there, the Killzone 2 engine is out there, the Resident Evil 5 engine is out there, and the Uncharted 2 engine is out there?
The numbers speak for themselves.
PS3 outsold the 360 in its first year even with "no GAMEZ!" and a much higher price.
PS3 sold the same as the 360 the next year even at double the price (well, it was outselling it when it was $100 more, but when the 360 dropped to $200 it evened the field).
So, if the PS3 sells this much at the CURRENT price, it's only logical for it to sell more at a lower price. Am I missing something?
Wow. This article is pathetic. Havok is good. I'll give the author that.
But Unreal3 and Source? If he was planning on making me laugh, he succeeded.
I'd like to see the 360 supported "one day longer than the PS3" just like Microsoft promised. Until then, Microsoft is infamous for dropping their old tech, not just with the Xbox but with lots of their software and operating systems. That's a simple fact, not some kind of anti-360 sentiment. Microsoft is well-known throughout the industry to be poor supporters of their tech.
And if the 360 lasts only 5 years, I'd still chalk that up as a disappointment. The NES, Game B...
Did Sony or Nintendo make such comments when Microsoft dropped the 360's price twice in 12 months?
Nope.
Microsoft must be bored.
Correct. I do recall many people saying that Sony's announcement was going to get way overblown whereas some websites tried to turn it into something major (sites like Kotaku) who will only spin it and say "BAWWWWW! Sony disappoints again!"
Heck yeah. Golden Sun is where it's at.
If GS came out in the SNES era with FF3, Chrono Trigger, etc., I firmly believe it would have been considered one of the "classics".
I love how some people are crying "GDC isn't for announcing games! GDC isn't for announcing games!" yet last year at GDC when Microsoft announced several big-name games (including Gears of War 2) you kids were shouting "In your face, Sony! Look at all of the 360's games!!!"
Pathetic.
Well, Xlink Kai is better than NO multiplayer, but I'm a huge fan of ad hoc multiplayer. It's completely lag-free (against any monster, in any map, and with any number of players) and the instant vocal communication is awesome.
Luckily, I have a lot of friends in my area who play Monster Hunter on PSP, but not everyone does so that's what Xlink Kai is for.
