It's a sad day when a multiplatform game has to be cut down because of the limitations of one console. I truly hope that FF13 turns out well.
Also, the author makes some valid points, but what would stop S-E to do some "performance corner cutting" on the PS3 version? There isn't a single aspect of the 360's hardware that will give the 360 version the edge, especially since the 360 version is a port of the PS3 version.
In this day and age, there are only about 20 companies of note anyway, sadly.
Yeah. That was a tough game.
I admit though. As I get older and my tastes change, I'm more interested in fun games with cool mechanics or a good storyline as opposed to a game with a steep challenge. If they're difficult, that's cool, but I grew up playing all the "OMG difficult!" games. Playing tough games doesn't make a person some kind of uber-hardcore gamer or anything.
Perfect recent example: Flower on the PSN. It wasn't a difficult game, but it was a ...
Oh please. I'm not saying the 3-D camera will suck, but even if it does debut at E3, you can bet that it will be aimed at the casual market. I surely hope the hardcore gaming media doesn't make this 3-D camera a bigger deal than it really is when more deserving games (like Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, etc) should be getting more attention.
Yet another must-have exclusive game for the PS3.
Oh wait. I forgot. It's all about multiplats now, amirite? ;^)
The catchphrase "Alan Wait" gains new life, it seems.
A gaming Zune would be pretty sweet. Will it be an mp3 player than can play a few games (a la the iTouch and iPhone) or will it be a gaming platform that can also play mp3 files (a la the PSP)?
And I can see the headlines now: "New Zune announced. PSP and iPhone are doomed!"
Every single gamer on the face of the earth -- with the exception of blind fanboys -- knew the 360 version of FF13 would have space issues. This is not a surprise.
Sweeeet. Can't wait to see some concrete info on this game.
On the other hand, I don't look forward to the media's inevitable reaction of "Huxley will sink the PS3! Can MAG even compete?!?!?"
Good to see someone take the gaming media to task for their obvious double standards.
Microsoft's piles of cash are running out? Awwwwwww.
Or are they just trying to make their piles even bigger?
Could this mean Trophies for PSP games? Yes please.
@ sidar
Alright. Then allow me to rephrase: CAPCOM's games this gen are inferior to the games they've made in the past.
Dan Hsu + HiphopGamer. Oh boy.
Apparently, someone thought that when you add raw sewage to a pile of used cigarette butts, they cancel each other out and create a valid opinion.
Played this quite a while ago. I was a fan of Thief so I wanted to try another game put out by LGS. It's definitely better than Bioshock. Eh, it might not have as strong of a plot twist ("Would you kindly?" was pretty dang impressive), but the atmosphere, class system, and enemies were leagues better than Bioshock.
In fact, I thought that Dead Space was a better follow-up to SS2 than Bioshock was, even though Bioshock was supposedly the "spiritual successor"....
CAPCOM's problem these days is that they simply don't innovate. They know they have people's nostalgic childhood memories by the balls (Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, etc), so they have no incentive to try new things.
Not to mention the fact that a lot of their original talent has left the company.
My E3 prediction:
Microsoft announces a timed 3rd-party exclusive for 2010 and/or shows off some Alan Wake footage and the entirety of the gaming press will cream their pants and blog about how Sony is doomed and how Microsoft totally conquered E3 '09 and how "Game Fuel" Mountain Dew is the best beverage ever.
Meanwhile, Sony will be showing off God of War 3, Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted 2 footage and announcing plenty of new exclusives...yet the media ...
But there's another side to the "overrated" thing:
Sometimes, the media gets caught up in the hype and they're the biggest "overraters", so to speak. It happened with several games already this gen (Grand Theft Auto 4 is an obvious example that gamers from either the 360 or PS3 can agree on).
So, sometimes it is valuable to point out that "Gears of Halo 7: Valkyria of the Patriots" actually IS overrated and that it ISN'T all that and a b...
@ JOLLY1
And I agreed with them. What's your point?
