Ah, nice! I totally called this: a multiplatform announcement will make everyone go crazy and forget the fact that Microsoft didn't show off a single new exclusive game this E3.
Well, it's still good news either way that it's coming to the 360.
I will say that the graphics left a lot to be desired (and it was a TRAILER). Hopefully L4D2 includes more than 3 hours of content like the first L4D game.
This is an awesome announcement! Crackdown was a great game.
So far, Microsoft is definitely keeping with their time-honored tradition of "bigger, badder, and more DLC!"
Where are the exclusives?
Edit: I'm sure I'm not the only person who is "blown away" by Microsoft showing off multiplatform games. First, Rock Band. Then, Tony Hawk. Then, Modern Warfare 2. Then, FF13. Weeeeeeee...
Halo is NOT Microsoft's best franchise by a long shot. Their most popular? Sure, but not their best. Fable, Forza, Age of Empires, Flight Sim, and Rise of Nations are just a few of their products that are superior to Halo 3.
I would have to say "No".
Advertising and branding are the #1 factors that results in financial performance.
Case in point: Halo 3. Sub-par graphics (yes, compared to other 360 games at the time, the graphics were sub-par), sub-par gameplay enhancements, and a sub-par conclusion to what was -- in my opinion -- a storyline that started off fantastically in Halo: Combat Evolved but quickly sped downhill as the series progressed.
I hope their "new direction" involves making better games and keeping their promise to be a multiplatform company.
I think Mad Catz's dedication to quality and Microsoft's dedication to quality jive really well together!
I'm going to laugh. I'm going to seriously laugh out loud if this is touted as M$'s "Sony killer" at this E3, especially since:
- It's already available through the PS3's browser
- No one buys a game system to watch movies, olololololol!
And for the below posters, I'll explain the above sentence: it's in reference to all the hypocrites who screamed "Dur dur! I bought my system to play games, not watch movies" when Blu Ray demolished HD-DVD....
Nice! Zune has been one of Microsoft's highest-quality products (but unfortunately, the sales aren't there to support it).
My only hope is that this gets some game support so that I can proudly put this with my DS and PSP. If XBLA games is all this "Zune HD" will get, I'm actually kinda disappointed. I'm not bashing the thing. I'm just saying that -- from a gaming perspective -- it would kinda be lacking compared to the other handheld gaming platforms.
Wow. Kind of a lame review, if you ask me. Infamous is this year's first AAA open-world game, and it's probably going to be this year's highest-rated open-world game, too.
They even say at the end: "despite a seemingly negative review, overall we did enjoy the first play through because it’s a good game and the free-running and shooting are second to none."
So basically, they say "We liked the game and the free-running is the best out there, but we sti...
Incorrect. Anyone who knows the history of video games knows that the original NES was exactly like the Wii, and no one in their right mind would look back and say "Yep. The NES killed hardcore gaming".
And besides, how can the Wii kill hardcore gaming when it is thriving on the PC, PS3, 360, PSP, DS, PS2, and even on the Wii itself?
Most PS3 owners don't care too much about DLC. It's a nice addition -- yes -- but it's nothing compared to fully-fledged game titles such as Killzone 2 and Infamous.
Eh, pretty good list. I especially liked the inclusion of Dead Space, Eternal Darkness, and Condemned.
However, the other games? Uh, there's a BIG difference between "scary" and "gory". Hence, there's no legitimate reason for the RE series to be on there. Where's the Fatal Frame series? What about F.E.A.R? And what about System Shock 2? All three of those games deserve a spot on the list.
Regardless of what is shown, the media will dress it up at "BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT EVARRRR!!!", just like last year and the year before.
I mean, let's be serious. Last year, Microsoft announced that a formerly-PS3-exclusive went multiplatform...and that's it. The PS3 is still getting it, so basically their biggest news (and it wasn't even their news. It was S-E's news) was a multiplatform game. Meanwhile, Sony announced several NEW titles, yet the media still screamed &qu...
The only people who care about this comparison are 360-only fanboys, because PS3 owners will be able to try out both games and come to their own conclusion.
Squarenixidos has to do only ONE thing to gain gamers' favor once again: release a great game.
It's very easy to blame the hate against S-E-E as "blind Sony fanboy rage", but Squarenixidos has outright SUCKED this generation, no matter what platform you own. They are worse than their PS2 days, and they are certainly worse than their days as Squaresoft in the SNES and PS1 days.
Take note, S-E-E. Pay attention. Gamers will only be led along the "nostalgi...
Lol. So, what was once "casual" (Eyetoy and Wii motion) is now "OMG AWESOME!!!" now that Microsoft has shown it.
So, what was once "just a bunch of cutscenes" (Metal Gear series) is now "OMG! MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENT!!! (Metal Gear Raiden)
Oh, I shouldn't be so mean. Let the 360 owners have their fun...
I must say, however, that Project Milo from Lionhead looks cool. Emphasis on "looks", though. It's always an is...
