I know that a gameplay trailer wasn't shown, but I'm amazed how this announcement ISN'T being talked about. An exclusive Rockstar game? People loved to shout "Hah hah! 360 stole GTA4 from PS3" when it went multiplatform, so why are people being so hush-hush when it comes to this game?
People were too easily wooed by Project Natal. Just go and watch the EyePet demonstration and you'll see that it does everything Natal boasted about...except that it's coming THIS year and it uses the CURRENT Eye camera.
I'm not saying Natal sucks or anything, but praising the thing based on these gameplay demonstrations is ignorant to the fact that this sort of stuff can be done (and is already being done) on the CURRENT Eye camera for PS3. I guess this is yet another example o...
The videos are nothing short of epic. Bloody, action-packed, and gorgeous to look at.
Nice interview. It's interesting how Lost Planet 2 also hitting the PS3 was such as "hush hush" thing with Capcom for the last couple of months.
Oh Kotaku...
*facepalm*
@ Foxgod
Oh, and I forgot to mention God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5.
Anyway, I was just curious, Foxgod. Can you tell me those titles of "graphical glory" on the 360? Can you mention those titles where I "can't actually tell the difference between the PS3 and 360"? I'm just quoting you directly, buddy, and I'm hoping for some education.
EDIT:
Yep, Foxgod, that's what I thought. You have nothing to say.
@ Foxgod
I'll know it when I see it. Crytek has produced some fantastic results on PC, but they are untested for consoles. I could write a novel about all of the PC-to-console developers this gen who were good on the PC but didn't pull off the same results on the console.
So, no one is insulting Crytek by simply asking them to show us the goods.
Cool. I'm glad there will be no differences between the two games.
However, the REAL question is this:
Will it look/run better than the exclusive games optimized to run on the 360 hardware and PS3 hardware? That's really all gamers are going to care about, because a crap game running equally-crappy on both consoles is still a crap game.
I thought MAG looked great (though I was bummed they didn't show off more gameplay).
To me, the part at the beginning where they showed all 256 players logging in was hilarious, as if they were saying "You said we couldn't do it? Well.....here ya go"
Well, let's be fair. Tony Hawk is going to make money selling his peripheral skateboard in his new game. So, it's in his best interest to downplay something that eliminates any need for a peripheral (supposedly)
Now, please don't misunderstand me. I don't think that Natal is the best thing ever made (it's a cool concept), but all I'm saying is that we should take Mr. Hawk's statements with a grain of salt, since he MAY have ulterior motives.
So then you're admitting that MGS:Rising announced on the 360 (which showed nothing more than a picture and a few storm clouds) is not a megaton as well? Because the same logic can be applied to that situation.
Wow.
And to think that people are telling lies to themselves right now, saying "No no no no. I don't want a PS3. I don't need a PS3. God of War 3 isn't as cool as everyone is saying. No no no no."
EDIT @Blaze
So I'm spouting "fanboy crap" because I think people are silly to not want a PS3 after seeing this game? Riiiight. Loosen your tie a bit, pal. The only thing worse than a fanboy is the loser who plays "fanboy police". ...
Remeber that one time...yeah...that one time when they said this about MGS4? Anyone else remember that? Anyone remember that one time when they said this about God of War III? Anyone remember when they said this about Gran Turismo 5? Little Big Planet? Killzone 2?
Yeah....you guys remember that one time?
@ LightofDarkness
Wow. I can respect your opinion and all, but you must have high standards for what classifies as a "megaton announcement".
Rockstar is one of the biggest companies this generation (and of last generation) due to Grand Theft Auto. GTA4 is one of the highest-rated and highest-selling games of this gen (though it wasn't my personal cup of tea).
So, announcing an exclusive from such a company IS a megaton, no matter how you look a...
Anyone with half a brain knows that reviews are biased. The travesty is that people assume the universal scoring system (10/10, 95%, etc.) gives a false sense of validity to the journalists' OPINIONS (hey, maybe Fox News should give their news clips a score from now on...)
The REAL questions is this:
What company/console currently bears the brunt of this bias?
;^)
@ Omega4
There was no trailer shown for MGS:Rising, yet people are talking a ton about that multiplatform game which isn't even endorsed by Kojima.
