I'm amazed that people are ignoring this MEGATON announcement in favor of arguing about how "Alan Wake has the best graphics I've seeeeen". I mean, let's not even mention the fact that S-E also announced an exclusive MMO for the PS3...

Seriously, what does Microsoft have to show in response to this? Anything? Bueller?

Oh. I'm sorry. You're right. Sony only showed us stuff "we've all seen before". Like, for example, we saw how Uncharted 2 demolished the graphics and physics of any game shown for the 360 at E3. And...hmmm. We already saw the announcement for the exclusive Rockstar title on the PS3, right? And we saw FF14 exclusive to the PS3, right? And we saw God of War 3 gameplay (also demolishing anything shown on the 360), right? And we saw the Last Guardian, right? And we ...

Wow. And these screens don't even do the in-motion footage justice. Seriously. Go watch the videos from which these screens are taken.

And to think that there are people who watched the E3 coverage and still lie to themselves by saying "Alan Wake has the best graphics I've ever seeeeeeen! Did you see that flashliiiiiight?"

Microsoft showed games being played? Really? Did you get to see a "special" conference, because to me all I saw was a Left 4 Dead 2 CGI trailer, a Crackdown 2 CGI trailer, and a 30-second Metal Gear Raiden trailer that wasn't even CGI...it was a moving picture. Was THAT the gameplay you're talking about? Microsoft showed gameplay for about 4 exclusive games, and that's it.

I really wish I could play this game, because the on-stage demonstration was quite lacking. I didn't see a single thing that set Alan Wake apart from Alone in the Dark, Condemned, or the previous Max Payne games.

Now, I still have faith that this game could be sweet, but I simply didn't see the awesomeness that so many people were hyping this game for at E3 this year.

And you can label me a fanboy, but how many people are saying "Microsoft stole the show because...

What are you playing tonight?

Because tonight, Sony gamers are playing Uncharted 2 beta and FF7 from PSN.

I love how you kids are continually changing the standards to fit your fragile little definition of how Microsoft "won". They showed off a casual motion-control camera and they won? They showed off a multiplatform spin-off of MGS and they won? Where were their exclusives? Where were their new games? Sony showed of dozens.

For every exclusiv...

E3 is all about games, and Sony obviously showed off the most. There's no denying that they showed off the most GAMEPLAY and the most new titles. That's just a fact.

I mean, people can yell "Microsoft totally stole the show" all they want, but I have yet to see a single user here on N4G on any article actually back up that statement with WHAT they "stole" the show. A multiplatform MGS spin-off? Motion tech that -- had it been announced for the Wii or PS3, oh w...

Valve is beginning to get all "EA"-ed. A year ago...heck, even 8 months ago, "old Valve" would have released this content as a free add-on for Steam customers. And it would have been as a big "we're sorry!" for shafting people on the included content for the original L4D game, which had so little content.

Yet, here they go releasing a "new" L4D game about a year later, and I can guarantee you that:

- the graphics will barely be...

@ el zorro

So, you're denouncing people who aren't excited about this MGS spin-off (a game that Kojima doesn't seem too excited about) because they're basing their opinions on almost no info...

...yet you go on to declare that this will be as "cool as hell" based on the same lack of info.

Hmmmm...

Yeah, I don't think anyone is going to be surprised if/when Konami announces this. Microsoft (who is always quick to scream "EXCLUSIVE!!!") never once mentioned this as an exclusive, and even when asked directly if it was an exclusive, their PR reps simply said "We never said it was exclusive. We just said that it was coming to 360".

Oh well. The idea of this being a multiplatform spin-off that Kojima himself isn't too thrilled about is not exciting to me. I'l...

Can't this question be easily answered by just looking at the FF13 game demo that's already running on the PS3 (from the Advent Children blu-ray)?

So, if Microsoft "stole" the show, with what did they steal it?

You can't just say "THEY STOLE THE SHOW!" Back up the statement, please. Oh, a multiplatform MGS spin-off (and 360 still isn't getting MGS4)? Is that the "show stealer"? Was Alan Wake the "show stealer"? It looked average.

What about Sony? An exclusive Rockstar game and an exclusive Square Enix game on the PS3, not to mention an exclusive PSP MGS game that Kojima i...

Both were cool, and I especially liked the menu integration for Project Natal.

However, I don't think people are taking note of a BIG difference between Natal and Sony's motion controller: Natal needs a whole new camera which won't be cheap, I'm sure. Sony's motion technology works with the CURRENT PS3 Eye camera, and I can guarantee you that buying a motion controller is going to be cheaper than buying an entire camera.

IMO, Sony's motion controller offers the best ...

Hah. No way. Microsoft showed off trailers (not even gameplay) of three new games: Left 4 Dead 2, Crackdown 2, and MGS:R (which is a multiplat release). That's it.

Every other game was expected, and the game that I was personally anticipating the most (Alan Wake) ended up looking pretty dang average.

Then of course there was the scripted Project Natal Molyneux/Lionhead video, and though the Natal technology looks cool, is this REALLY going to make me play my 360 (and...

I have to agree. Sony just showed off SO much and announced so much. Microsoft barely showed off anything. I mean, you can even eliminate Sony's "Motion Control" demonstration and they still come out on top. Here are just a FEW of the games they talked about:

- LBP PSP
- Lost Planet 2 confirmed on PS3
- That new Mod Racer Nation game
- MGS on PSP
- Ratchet and Clank PS3
- Jak and Daxter PSP
- Fat Princess PSP
- Assassin's Creed ...

This spin-off will probably be multiplatform.

I can honestly say that I'm unimpressed. This isn't the "megaton" that some people predicted. It's not MGS4 (or MGS5, for that matter) on the 360. It isn't directed by Kojima, even.

6083d ago 13 agree5 disagreeView comment

Actually, I thought it looked pretty sweet. Sorta reminded me of "Seaman" from the Dreamcast.

For me, this was M$'s biggest announcement. Everything else was either predictable or meh.
