I actually thought - while the story did have its highlights - it wasn't all that revolutionary or "brilliant". Definitely not a masterpiece.
For the record, I didn't find Heavy Rain's story to be as "brilliant" as people claimed, either. But at least HR attempted new gameplay innovations.

Y'know, I have no doubt that the iPad will do well, but many people claimed that the iPhone/iTouch would revolutionize gaming, and it hasn't. In fact, the number of developers of the iPhone/iTouch is on the decline.
So, will the iPad have a bunch of developers for a while? Sure, but until it is marketed and developed as a gaming platform, it will not make a major impact.
Interesting article. I will give Sony props that at E3 '09, they pretty much shut their mouths and let their games do the talking. They showed off more games than Nintendo and Microsoft combined.

This game will be incredibly awesome, it seems. The first LBP was a revolution in game design in every sense of the phrase.
Let's hope this fanboy-run industry can be humble and recognize LBP2 for what it is.

I just hope E3 doesn't focus too much on the motion controls/motion tracking stuff...well, Nintendo will, of course, but I want Sony and Microsoft to show off games for a real gamer, not some already-been-done camera/motion tracking stuff. I've been playing games since the NES. It's really not all that cool to me.
PR hype and flashy announcements haven't impressed me for years. I want real games.
You'd be a fool to trust any screenshots EPIC releases. History has shown time and time again that they will shamelessly release bullshots because they know the media won't call them out on it.
It's true. Of all the publishers out there, Nintendo tends to keep its people, especially its creative talent. Sony and Microsoft both lose their people often. Didn't Microsoft lose yet another person from the Xbox line recently?
Oh boy. Can't wait. Square Enix has been so good at releasing high-quality games lately...

Valve needs to step it up. I love the half-Life series but they have been underdelivering over the past several years and going back on promises.

Games are their own medium. It's one thing to make a book (no sound or visuals) into a movie, but a game tells its own story at its own pace in it's own way. The plot twists in a game like Deus Ex or Half Life 2 or Bioshock wouldn't work in a movie.
It's like making a MGS movie series. Cool? Yes. Will it tell the full story? No way.
I've played the Japanese version, and this game is amazing. There is so much content and Kojima was not lying when he said there would be hundreds of hours of gameplay.
