Hey nice review. I am currently playing and loving this game. One thing I'd like to emphasize is that the story is REALLY good, and it is one of the biggest stories in the entire MGS series due to the "briefing files". I don't want to spoil anything but there are so many background stories and plot revelations through the hours and hours (and hours) of audio files included in this game, which is in ADDITION to the excellent story of the "main" game.
Microsoft has the Western media on its side, so in the media's eyes, sure, it'll steal the show just like it has "stolen" the show for the past 3 E3s (according to the media).
However, Microsoft has shown off fewer and fewer exclusives at E3 as the years pass. Think about last year: 2/3rds of the games they showed were multiplatform. Whereas both Nintendo and Sony keep showing off new things that I get excited about.
The gameplay boils down to personal preference (a FPS versus a TPS? C'mon this sounds like Resistance 2 vs Gears 2 comparisions).
But when it comes to graphical detail and physics, Gears 3 will fall short against KZ3.
This game could be amazing...or amazingly crappy.
The original X-COM:UFO Defense (Enemy Unknown) is still one of the greatest games of all time. Hopefully this new XCom will spark interest in the old classic (a game that every true gamer should try).
Greenburg is a paid troll. When will people realize that? Microsoft PR is - and always has been since the early days of DOS - about bashing the competition to make yourself look good.
Funny....Dragon Quest wasn't even a Squaresoft franchise. It was Final Fantasy's main competitor over at Enix.
Microsoft has a PROVEN track record of dumping a broken product and moving on to the next version once people are not willing to be hoodwinked into buying it. That's a simple FACT. The Xbox division has been bleeding money, Microsoft has been closing more and more Xbox game studios, and Natal seems completely off their target of "being the #1 hardcore gaming console" as they wanted to be the last 2-3 years. If you think I'm trolling, go ahead and check my facts. Everything I...
This game is amazing. I DL'ed it in Japanese, played it, and beat it. Now I have my very own English UMD and I beat it again. This game is incredibly deep and definitely stands with the rest of the series.
Don't be fooled: this game really is MGS5. It's a masterpiece.
EDIT @ an above post
The game is not impossible to beat solo. I beat both the Japanese and USA versions solo just fine.
And to think that some fanboys were saying "OMG! It looks as good as Uncharted 2!!!"
Didn't Microsoft lose money on their GTA4 DLC deal?
I just don't understand what you mean when you say "might still make it worth it for them". Other than fanboy bragging rights, Microsoft timed exclusive deals have never worked out as a major advantage.
The game looks cool. I hope the media gives Motorstorm the attention it deserves.
Oh Microsoft. They just keep flapping their lips without showing results. We have yet to see you deliver on Natal, M$, so please deliver on that first and then you can play "me too!" with 3D later.
I wouldn't be surpised, and as a consequence the Western media will go berserk with 10/10 scores and say "Ohhhh GAAAAAWD! Reidaan iz so awsum!!!" Yet, it will have a fraction of the content of MSG4. It will have a fraction of the storyline of MGS4.
Such is modern gaming journalism.

My understanding is that Rising is NOT a sequel. It's a spin-off. Kojima made it clear that his baby was Peace Walker, not Rising. Risin...
Activision 'is sh*t'.
Yet, I can go out and buy plenty of 3rd-party products for both my Wii, PS3, DSi, and Wii. What gives, Microsoft?
Oh...greed. Got it.

No, the subject is Microsoft not allowing 3rd-party products for its system.
Seems like 3D tech is getting more media attention than exclusive games or motion controls at E3 this year.
And guess which system has all three (motion controls, 3D, and exclusives up the wazoo)?
Shhhhhhh. You're forgetting that M$ followers magically forget any of Microsoft's broken promises...
*sigh*
Square Enix. Stop pretending that true gamers care about your games anymore. You are the EA of Japan. You are an advertisement pony. You are a joke.
I want to watch it live, though with MTV in Microsoft's pocket...*ahem* ...excuse me, with MTV "partnering" with Microsoft, I wouldn't be surprised to see the tiniest of M$ announcements turned into a media frenzy.
I hope they fix the hardware.
