IMO, Nintendo already has a broader perspective.
Sony's stance is "buy one of our $1500 TVs and a pair of $200 glasses and a $300 PS3".
Nintendo's stance is "we will bring the 3D to you. No new TV needed, no glasses needed, and it fits in your two hands".
With that said, I'm excited for BOTH companies. I just think Nintendo is more consumer-minded.
Well no duh. Dreamcast was even compatible with Windows. And you gotta realize that Peter Moore - a main contributor to the Xbox brand - first worked on the Dreamcast.
In many ways Xbox was the Dreamcast 2.0: similar controller, built-in online, 4 controller ports, etc.
Interesting how a lot of third parties are giving PS3 exclusive DLC nowadays. There were several games at E3 that also announced stuff on PS3 only such as Dead Space 2 DLC.
My only hope is that there aren't so many driving missions. Mafia was great but (IMO) there were WAAAY too many driving missions.

I might agree with the "most fun" and "most feature rich".
However, Gears 2 looked worse than Gears 1 in parts, and it certainly was not more polished than Gears 1 (twice as many glitches, if that's even humanly possible).

These articles are very ignorant. Do you keep your Netflix DVDs once you stop paying? Heck, do you get to play basic online multiplayer when you stop paying for Xbox Live? I think some crybaby journalists are mad that PSN+ offers something tremendous that XBox Live does not.

The endings to the first two Fallout games put Fallout 3 to shame, especially since Bethesda promised "over 300 ending variations" but silently backed out of their promise.
So many great games, but how are games like Metal Gear Solid 4 missing from the list?
I love Parasite Eve, but I don't know if I like where this is going. The first two games were creepy "Resident Evil RPG" games, to put it loosely. This one sounds like a normal ol' shooter.

But seriously, I don't want games to be dumbed down. It is a myth that console gamers can't handle complex games. We don't ALL sit on our couch playing Call of Duty. Give us some complexity!

I never claimed simple is bad. I spoke out against "dumbed down". A.k.a Final Fantasy 13 abandoning 90% of the series' core mechanics in favor of one long cutscene.
That studio has a lot to live up to.

Well, it has to live up to the fans. The gameplay and graphics and story don't matter if it doesn't appeal to the fanbase.
Anything more than $50 is expensive, IMO. Especially since Kinect can only support 2 active players.
And for the record, I think Move is hella expensive too.
If I want motion controls, I'll buy a Wii and enjoy all of the great games on it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I really don't seem to have the same Rockstar-colored glasses that the media wears while playing these games.

How are demos horrible? You want to spend money on potentially-crappy games? I love the fact that I can download a game demo and try it before I make a final purchase.
Molyneux is full of rubbish. Fable III is going to be episodic? Ooooooh great. Expect to pay over $100 for the same amount of content that you got in Fable II. "Oh, but it's episodic!" Whoop-dee-doo!
SMG2 just came out. What about the first SMG? And these are NPD numbers, not worldwide. Wow, a gritty shooter sold more in America than Super Mario Galaxy 1.5? STOP TEH PRESSEZ!
Plus, RDR launched on twice the gaming platforms as SMG2 did.

Online shooters are unrealistic to begin with. Who fights a battle in a small 1 acre arena? Who runs down hallways tossing grenades everywhere? If you think Call of Duty 4 is a realistic depiction of war, we'd have 10 times as many dead troops from our current wars.
"Camping" is realistic, but since it isn't a "game" technique, it comes across as unfair.

I agree that Nintendo should start taking some risks, but wouldn't you consider the "mii" characters to be a new creation?
Anyway, I think Nintendo is fine with using old characters, even though I would like new characters. Think about how they are reviving Kid Icarus. No one complains that Halo has Master Chief or that Metal Gear has Snake. It's the nostalgia, and nostalgia is fun. Don't fans clamor for an FF7 remake? Didn't people enjoy Half Life S...
