So, by focusing all of their effort into Kinect, they're admitting on giving up on hardcore gaming? I don't want to hear about "investing". I want to see results. You don't hear Sony saying "we're investing in hardcore games". Do you know who has been saying that? Nintendo. They've been saying "The Wii is still hardcore" for years now, yet what have they shown (with the exception of e3 2010)?
And what hardcore gamers are worki...
Didn't that argument get debunked in like...1994?
Seriously, I can see why PC gaming is on the decline: ignorance is allowed to breed.
"Investing heavily" does not cut it. "Investing heavily" is what got the 360 GTA4 DLC and nothing else for a year. Heck, the fact that they even have to say it shows that they're in a downward spiral.
You don't see Sony or Nintendo saying "Oh by the way, in case you were wondering, we're gonna have exclusives on our system".
Everything you need to know
#3 It doesn't do half of what was shown at last year's E3.
#2 It doesn't have half the game ideas shown at last year's E3.
#1 It's not made for you, the gamer.
Let's bash Move (which is not required to play GT5) instead of the "hold your hands in the air and make believe" feature that is the core mechanic of Forza 4.
Yeah...which one will gamers pick?
Nice article. I agree that the connection we have with character has little to do with technology. I feel more connected to 16-bit sprites in Chrono Trigger than I do to Marcus Fenix, and the tear in my eye at the end of MGS4 wasn't because of the great graphics.
It was because of storyline. Sadly, this connection is dwindling as the gaming industry continues to trade quality for online deathmatches and DLC.
Focus on making good games again and stop milking your franchises.
Online can wait.
"One of the of the most important games of E3, Dance Central..."
Lord, let that not be true.
I wouldn't go as far to say that the whole industry is boring, but most of it is. C'mon, if you played the most-advertised games, you'd play nothing but Call of Duty, Madden, and Halo.
Mario was fun to play, and no one looked idiotic while playing it.
I'd compare Kinect Adventures to using a Power Glove, or playing with R.O.B.
We'll believe it when we see it
So what were we waiting for? Hahah! I love how Microsoft made it seem like it wasn't going to be $150.
How many Microsoft developers are looking into Kinect?
See, as gamers, we can all agree that games are what matters, right? And with Rare and Lionhead working on games like Milo and river rafting, who is left to make the hardcore games?
If I needed a 360, I'd definitely get this.
However, this is definitely a "hardcore" console, not an entry-level console. Are hardcore 360 fans going to rush out and buy this? I'm just worried that the 360 has way too many SKUs on the market right now (like, 4, including the 360 S?)
Not to steal a marketing catchphrase, but I feel it is appropriate:
3DS: It only does everything.
RDR is a great game, but I feel it was GTA4 all over again.
In other words, the media showers 10/10 scores on a 8.5/10 game.
Wii was "more than just a gaming fad" but that doesn't mean I want to rush out and buy one to get my hardcore gaming fix...
Peggle is fun.
Doesn't mean I want the direction of a gaming company focused on that sort of "fun" *cough*Microsoft*cough*
Their reasons are pretty funny.
"#1 Kinect is a new concept" HAH!
"#3 It will bring new games to the market" Right, because we saw a bunch of new games for it at E3...
"#5 Allows for more interaction with the console" A Blu Ray remote adds more "interactio...
Journalistic trolling.
I thought I'd never see the day. /s
I'd take a Wii instead of Kinect or Move. It's a whole new system, and Wii has more core games than Move and Kinect combined. Fire Emblem, Zelda, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros, Mario, Goldeneye, No More Heroes, Red Steel, and so forth.
