@ Sony Defense Farce
So, you're basically saying "You're right rhood. I have no grasp of economics. Excuse me why I make me default slam on Sony's current state of affairs".
It breaks my heart when I realize you represent the cream of the crop amongst the 360 fanbase.
@ Jason360
This generation of consoles isn't even over yet, so let's look at the facts:
- the 360 is selling only SLIGHTLY better than the Xbox did within the same time frame
- if you compare the first two years of the 360 to the first two years of the PS3, the PS3 is doing MUCH better. Plus, the 360 had no competition. The PS3 had competition.
- the PS3 is slated to be a "10-year console", whereas most analysts say that a new Xbox...
Microsoft continues to say "the problem is fixed, everyone! It's okay! You can trust us" and then another article comes out saying that the new XBox 360 is prone to getting the RRoD. Let's also keep in mind that the RRoD is only ONE of MANY hardware problems with the 360. It's the only one under the 3-year warranty, so you should HOPE that you get the RRoD. Any other problem will force you to buy a new system.
My recommendation would be to buy a PS3 if you're tired of h...
"We don't want to force our customers to buy things they don't want".
Lol. It scares me when Microsoft is willing to give away so much free stuff just to sell their console. Technically speaking, wouldn't this constitute the third price drop in 5 months?
Xbox 720 in 2010. Say goodbye to 360 support.
I'm not surprised. They've been tempting fate more and more by cramming more and more content onto those DVD9 disks. A lot of 360 games suffer from slowdowns, glitches, long load times, texture pop-in, and issues like that. Ironically, the most "stable" games are the 3rd-party games like CoD4 and Bioshock. Now, the PS3 suffers from long load times and slowdowns, too, but not to the same degree as the 360. Apparently, Gears 2 also has a fair amount of bugs (and the "bigger, bett...
I'm sure this comment will be ignored, since it is so far down the list, but has anyone dared question their own "doom and gloom" predictions of the PS3? Okay, so Sony will take LESS of a profit. Are they still making profit? Yep.
What about a loss? Am I the only one who recalls Microsoft's 5 BILLION DOLLAR loss on the original Xbox? Look what happened: they made another console. No big deal.
I think some people are too eager for particular companies to fai...
Of course they need a makeover. Vista is in shambles because the public doesn't trust it nor do they see a reason to upgrade. Their first-party and second-party developers are closing shop, cutting employees, and leaving Microsoft behind. Zune is a cute "me too" product compared to the iPod. The 360 is STILL broken after 3 years and despite all of the PR hoo-hah, it really isn't selling all that much better than the original Xbox.
But as the article pointed out, Microso...
I don't really care for Home. I spend plenty of time playing actual games on my PS3.
Sony made a mistake announcing Home so early. It sounds like a cool and innovative service, but we've been waiting for it for 2 years (and counting). What gives?
Yeah, guys! Let's rally together and defend Gears 2! They only played the retail version. What do THEY know?
I mean, EPIC would NEVER release a glitchy game! Unreal Engine is always bug-free with no framerate issues or texture pop-in.
/extreme sarcasm
I already played Gears 2. How? Well, I hate to break it to you, but your system is easier to crack than the Dreamcast.
I believe this is the same game that reviewers saw at the recent S-E conference in Japan. They were all "oh, this looks nice. This CGI scene looks cool," and then S-E drops the bomb and says "By the way, this is actual gameplay".
Only possible on the PS3, mah bois.
Didn't you all know? The attach rate for consoles is ALWAYS at it's highest when it's within the final two (or less) years of its lifespan. I believe the PS2 was at around a 12 or 13 game attach rate before the 360 came out.
Enjoy your attach rate and a new Xbox in 18 months!
@ Wurider
360 piracy is STARTING to spin out of control. Halo 3 and Madden weren't available for free 2 1/2 weeks before launch (as is the case with Gears 2). On top of that, piracy tends to increase exponentially. It starts small, and then increases. Don't say "piracy has always been there" because piracy has severely damaged the PSP and it killed the Dreamcast. Piracy is what made Crytek (the devs of Crysis say) "we're not going to develop exclusively for PCs any...
I would normally have ignored this article (since fanboys on all sides do stuff like this on Metacritic and other sites). It's just a sign that they're fanboys. No big deal.
HOWEVER, when I saw that there were over 2,100 user reviews, my jaw dropped.
Good job, Microsoft! I applaud you! You're 3/4ths of the way to the ONE MILLION mark! The PS3 is only about 2 million ahead of you. No big deal. The PS3 has only been outselling you for the other 40 weeks this year. No big deal. Surely 5 entire weeks of outselling the PS3 is a sign of things to come!
After all, don't forget: the PS3 has no good games! It will never pick up in sales!
I know I'm not the first person to say this, but if THAT was the "greatly improved" storyline that Cliffy B boasted about, I feel sorry for 360 owners. I mean, to be fair, EPIC has never been known for its good storylines or their revolutionary gameplay. They mostly focus on graphics and gore.
But still...Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, Viva Pinata, and now Fable 2 and Gears 2. All of these games have had mediocre storylines. I am a gam...
It's bad enough that the 360's first-party and second-party devs are jumping ship. It's bad enough that people are caring less and less about bribed...er...um..."persu aded" 3rd-parties making their games go multiplatform. It's bad enough that Microsoft's various restrictions (limited XBLA arcade size, "extra disk" tax, "no hard drive" limitation", etc) are driving developers away.
But with this piracy issue on the rise, the 360 is going to suff...
If anyone is going the way of SEGA, it's Microsoft.
I say that because SEGA's greatest downfall is that it couldn't reach too far beyond its core fanbase with the 32x, Saturn, or Dreamcast. They also failed because most multiplatform games didn't come out on the Dreamcast.
Microsoft is having the same problem as SEGA. Technically speaking, they haven't sold beyond their 24-million fanbase established with the original Xbox, and while the Wii has the casuals and Sony ...
Lionhead promised one thing and delivered so much less. Not only did they remove online co-op from the final version (to be included at a later date), but they totally destroyed anything that could be cool about the co-op at all.
Don't even defend Lionhead. There's no excuse. We were led to believe that we would be able to bring OUR character into another person's game world. We were led to believe that Fable 2 would "change the way we play co-op games". Yeah right. It...
Fanboys will be fanboys. PS3 owners should not have done this.
However, I want to point out something funny:
There will be 360 fanboys in this article commenting on how "Sony fanboys always do stuff like this" and "Look at how the Sony fanboys are running scared". Hurl your insults, because ALL fanboys deserve to be insulted, but let me ask you this:
- Does Gears 2 have over 2,200 user comments? LBP does.
- Did "Sony fanboy...
