Agreed. Sadly, Indigo Prophecy was somewhat underrated. I hope this game turns out well. I've been a huge adventure game fan since the Monkey Island series, Grim Fandango, The Neverhood, etc.
Newer adventure games like Dreamfall and Indigo Prophecy have been good, but I've been wanting more. Looks like this will deliver the goods.
What is Alan Wake?
No, seriously...I remember seeing a gameplay demonstation about 1,000 years ago, but every time I hear this game mentioned the only word I get is "Uhhh....it's coming someday".
F.Y.I, Alan Wake is being built for the PC and ported to 360, whereas Heavy Rain is being built exclusively for the PS3 hardware. The 360 will get an "acceptable" version of Alan Wake whereas Heavy Rain will be a stunning example of the PS3's hardware cap...
The creatures from System Shock 2 were pretty freaky, but sadly 99% of the kids on this site only know of that game as "some game which supposedly inspired Bioshock or something"
@ lawman
Or in Microsoft's case
"If it is broke, claim it ain't broke, then don't fix it, then throw a bunch of money at angry consumers, and still don't fix it".
Yet another minor PS3 issue getting blown out of proportion whereas the RRoD, disk-scratching, and "One Light of Death" issues on the 360 get a free pass.
Oh, how I love the gaming media.
too long; didn't read version:
Devs should find a new way of doing business instead of increasing prices.
OR...
IMO, EA is doing a fantastic job of countering this "used game industry" and they have won a lot of my respect back. What they do is this: they take a game like Burnout Paradise and then release free downloadable content.
And if anyone has played this extra content in BP, they KNOW that the content is high-quality! Why woul...
At the same time some other fanboys are thinking:
"That's right. This review is accurate. All of those 9/10 and 10/10 scores were bribed by Sony".
;)
Screenshot comparisons are hilarious. They serve no purpose except to incite flamewars.
Let's look at the games in motion, shall we? I can think of plenty of games (Gears of War, for instance) that looked gorgeous in screenshots but when it came time to actually play it....well....the framrate drops and texture pop-in told a very different story.
You are entitled to your opinion, and I know that not everyone is going to like Resistance (just like not everyone loves Halo, Half Life, God of War, Mario, etc).
However, the game deserves some credit. First of all, it was a launch title and yet it kept pace with the 360 games coming out at the same time both in terms of graphics and in terms of gameplay. Many would say that -- from a technical standpoint -- Resistance is up there with other awesome launch titles like Super Mari...
I have yet to see a single PS3 owner brag about Trophies except perhaps to say "See. We have it, too."
On the flip side, 360 owners brag about HDD installs as if the 360 was the first system to do it.
Lol. Just....lol.
But the 360 pretty much IS at the end of its cycle. Most analysts say that a new 360 will be out around 2010.
Besides, you didn't have the best-looking XBox games coming out at the end of its life cycle. The first Gears of War was the best-looking 360 game for two years straight. So, if Gears 2 is the peak of the 360's power, so be it. If it isn't, so be it, but we all know that the graphical gap between the 360 and the PS3 is only going to increase as time passes.
In regards to the podcast:
Saying that Halo 3 multiplayer requires skill = lol.
Okay, so now that the all-powerful Metacritic score isn't on the side of the 360, will we see a certain fanbase change their standards for what makes a AAA game once AGAIN?
Nice work, Media Molecule.
Those 360 fanboys who worship Metacritic have been brought to their knees! Once again we will witness you flop in your "criteria" for what qualifies a game as AAA. YOUR GOD HAS BETRAYED YOU! FIND A NEW GOD!
@ uxo
Gears isn't an exclusive, in case you hadn't heard. It can be played on PC (with more content, for that matter).
Several other 360 "exclusives" can also be played on PC like Mass Effect. Gears 2 and Halo 3 will be added to that list soon (and just wait: they'll only be compatible with Windows 7)
Wait. Let me get this straight:
You're mocking SONY for hyping up their games? You're mocking SONY for hyping up SEQUELS?
*pffft*
BAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!
:D
Sorry, but that's just hilarious.

This is a no-brainer. The very concept of "platform exclusives" are very different at Microsoft and Sony.
At Microsoft, it's this: "Hey! Look at that cool game being developed. Let's give them some cash so they make it for our console!"
At Sony, it's this: "Hey! We need a new game to be developed. Hmmmm. Which one of our 30+ developers should we pick? Eeeny-meeny-miney-moe! You! Go make an FPS, and here's some money".
I prefer ...
I think the title is extremely misleading. Broken games on the PS3 isn't a "growing trend". If anything, it's a dying trend. Does anyone remember the days of nigh-on-unplayable multiplatform PS3 games in 2006 and 2007?
The trend that is growing is using the PS3 as the lead development platform. THAT trend ends up showing improvements for both the PS3 and 360 versions of the game.
Lastly, I'd like to mention (as if it wasn't painfully obvious) that this is t...
Sadly, I'm sure a lot of fanboys will either:
1. Compare it to Alan Wake and claim it will fail
2. Pull a Killzone 2 and say "OMG! DOSE GRAFIX BE FAKE!"
3. Pull a Killzone 2 and say "OMG! DIS GAME GOTS NUTHIN BUT GRAFIX! LOL!"
For me, I am very excited for this game. Quantic Dream said that they want to bring storytelling to a whole new level, and I can't wait. IMO, the best games of this generation have been the games that had excellent ...
