Of course they wouldn't stop playing it, silly! They have to boost their gamer score. ;)

@ BLUR111

I don't agree with hi-def's comment, but who really CARES which game sells more? Is this some sort of digital pissing contest? Unless you have stock in a company, sales don't mean squat. Heck, in many cases reviews don't even mean squat. Take Killzone for example. The first one was okay and didn't get great sales or great reviews, but the sequel is looking AAAA. What about 50 Cent Bulletproof and all those Spongebob games? Those games sell in the millions. Are you gonna...

Let me get this out of the way: I am in no way, shape, or form a fan of the Naruto series. I don't outright HATE it, but you wouldn't catch me dead watching the show or reading the books.

However, I played the demo from PSN and I liked it a lot. I'm a helpless fan of fighting games, and the fighting in this game is quite unique. Since I'm not a Naruto fan, it isn't worth the $60, but when it drops to $40 I'm definitely picking this one up.

They do this for every big-name game they release. Microsoft has very few exclusive franchises (and even fewer coming in the future, with their devs dropping like flies), so they have to make each and every game look like the best game ever made.

It's a clever tactic, and it has worked so far. The only problem is that most gamers are smart enough to see through their smoke-and-mirror behavior, especially when you actually sit down and compare a list of upcoming PS3 exclusives and...

I'm puzzled. I'm stumped. I'm absolutely boggled.

How in the WORLD can 360 fanboys mock Killzone 2 and call it "Greyzone 2" and then turn around and call THIS game AAA, GotY?

Please. Someone explain that paradox of logic.

@ JOLLY

LOL. Killzone's character's don't have Mega Man boots, oversized hands, and swear every 6 minutes. I'm not claiming that Killzone 2 will have a great storyline, but I do like the atmosphere and game world of Killzone a lot more.

The storyline (what little storyline there is) and flavor of Gears has always screamed "Summer action flick". The whole feigned bravado of the game is silly. When the designer describes the game as "bigger, better, and...

That's because Sony invests money into game developers and 1st-party exclusives. Microsoft invests money into bribes for 3rd-party devs making "exclusive" games and huge Mountain Dew marketing campaigns.

You know, every time I see these big ad campaign pushes I am reminded of that "Apple vs. Mac" commerical where PC is sitting at his desk putting all the $$$ in the "Advertising" pile and leaving only a little bit for fixing Vista's bugs.

I mean, let's be serious: lump all the money Microsoft has poured into PR, advertisement, buying DLC, paying to stop a PS3 version of a multiplatform game, paying to make PS3 exclusives go multiplatform and compare that pile t...

Honestly, I would add the following to the list (yeah, I know it's only 5 on the list):

- DICE: They've made two games this year. Bad Company and Mirror's Edge. BC was good/great depending on your opinion, and Mirror's Edge is shaping up to be AAA.

- Bioware: they made one of the most influential and immersive (arguably) games of this generation, Mass Effect.

- 2K: Bioshock. 'Nuff said.

- Infinity Ward: Call of Duty 2 was a very popular and ...

And yet everyone switched to Call of Duty 4 (a multiplatform game) a few months after Halo 3 came out. What does that say about the staying power of the game?

Halo 3 was made for Halo fans. CoD4 was made for FPS fans. That's why it is played more. Who really cares about the score?

@ JOLLY and OOG

:D I see what you did there.

No, I don't get any sexual arousal from video games. However, the "attitude" of Gears of War is terrible, IMO. It's like a poorly-written '80s cop show. I play video games to be entertained, and there are certain types of entertainment that I have grown out of. "Macho man"-style entertainment is one of those things I have grown out of.

They've been play-testing the multiplayer portion since mid-2007 last year. The devs said that every weekend they play the multiplayer specifically to balance the gameplay.

So, if they removed L&P, it's for a good reason. I never missed it in the beta, so I'm not worried about it being absent in the final version.

I only wonder if these are legit screenshots. EPIC has been known to *ahem* tamper with their screenshots in the past. Plus, the REAL issue is how the game will look in motion, and some people are saying that the game suffers from framerate drops and texture pop-in (just like the first one).

Well, here's hoping that the game turns out to be great. It's not my cup of tea (the macho-man cliche vibe is a turn-off for me), but I hope it turns out for the 360 owners who don't have any...

This game will be awesome. I've had the distinct fortune of being able to play the beta (not on my PS3, unfortunately, but on a friend's PS3) and I must say that it is fantastic. The graphics surpass any shooter currently on the market, and these are graphics in the BETA! I can only imagine how the final game will look once they put some polish on it.

Plus, the multiplayer is very fun. It's like CoD4 with a heavy dose of Team Fortress 2 (due to the class choices). Apparently the ...

Actually, I thought 70k was the sales for ToV's first week, not the first day. I could be wrong, though.

Either way, the "Tales of..." games are a very popular and established franchise in Japan. It would have done just as well (if not better) if it was on the PS3. Comparing LBP to ToV and then screaming "FLOOOP!" is ignorant. It's like comparing the sales of LoZ: Twilight Princess to the sales of Kameo and calling Kameo a flop.

@ FantasyStar

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Developers cannot count on an HDD for the 360. In fact, Microsoft has pretty much said "NO!" to every dev that has asked to make their game require an HDD. The PS3 is a very different story, since every model comes with an HDD.

So, devs will not make 360 games that fully utilize the HDD. Period. The jury is still out on how this "optional install" thing will work. For all we know, it might sh...

"great value".

Lol. Any gamer knows that the Arcade is a rip-off, and sales seem to confirm that the Arcade SKU isn't doing as well as M$ hoped. The majority of their sales still come from the Pro (which is the right choice).

After all, I thought Xbox Live was the greatest thing on earth. So why buy a console that doesn't let you use it? I thought a gamerscore was super-fun and addictive. Why buy a console that doesn't let you fully utilize it? I thought th...

30k in the first day? Let's average that out and say 200k in the first week. That's a FLOP? In Japan?

Wow. Some of you fanboys are really reaching on this one. 30k on the first day (especially with GTA4 sitting next to it on the shelf) is excellent!

But I thought installs were "gay", kids? Despite the fact that it makes the game run smoother and load faster, we've all been bashing the PS3 since Day One about the install files, and now it's a cool feature that we're all looking forward to?

Lol. Just...lol.

And before anyone says it: most PS3 installs these days are optional or non-existant (see Uncharted and Dead Space for reference).
