The amount of bribe money Microsoft has been pouring into exclusive JRPGs plus the massive marketing pushes in Japan could have fooled me....

Oh, you were spinning? I'm sorry. I didn't realize.

The funny thing is you were spelling doom for the PS3 in all of those "360 outselling PS3 in week-to-week sales in Japan" articles.

To answer your question:

Certain fanboys and fanboy media sites were hyping up the fact that the 360 was outselling the PS3 in week-to-week sales for the past 7 weeks (albeit it was only by about 3,000 per week) in Japan. Apparently, this was a huge deal and it spelled certain doom for the PS3 (in reality, it was yet another over-hype of 360 sales).

So, some people are rubbing it back in those fanboys' faces.

@ kevnb

To the general public, Vista is still broken. The majority of people who use Vista dislike it. Those are the facts.

From a technical standpoint, I'm sure that Vista is superior to XP. I've used a computer running Vista "properly" and I was incredibly impressed, but that doesn't negate the fact that the majority of Vista users are NOT running Vista "properly", therefore their perceptions of it will be negative.

So, the PS3 destroys the 360's 7-week "lead" in a single week.

Of course, we won't see Kotaku running dozens of articles about THIS. No way. This isn't newsworthy. Move along, folks. :)

Level-5 (the dev of White Knight Chronicles) is nearly to the same level of popularity as other Japan favorites like Bandai Namco and Square-Enix. Dragon Quest VIII was obviously a big hit in Japan. Rogue Galaxy was a bit hit in Japan, especially for a new IP. Professor Layton was a HUGE hit in Japan.

An RPG from Level-5 is certain to me a success in Japan. I mean, if Blue Dragon can be successful on Japan on the 360, I don't see why a PS3 RPG can't reach the same amount of popul...

Watch fanboys try to spin this. Hilarious. So, Sony basically kills Microsoft's 7-week "lead" with one week of strong sales?

LOL. Seriously. LOL.

Congrats, Konami, on an excellent game and excellent sales. MGS4 is definitely one of my favorite games this year and definitely one of the best games of all time. At least this should squash those hilarious fanboy-produced rumors that said "OMG! IF MGS4 DOES NOT SELL GOOD IT WILL GO TO 360! OMG! OMG!"

Cheers.

I watched the ending (though I love Resistance, I don't mind spoiling the storyline for myself).

Better ending than Gears 2: confirmed. That was so cool. Definitely a huge plot twist.

So, Microsoft has once again dropped a faulty product, dropped the early adopters, and has moved on to a new OS? I can't say that I'm surprised...

The only thing that will surprise me at this point is if Windows 7 actually manages to sell well.

@ Kratos Spartan

Here is that article you're talking about:

http://venturebeat.com/2008...

It is very eye-opening to see just how dirty Microsoft can be and just how little they actually care about their customers.

Microsoft is taking off? If by "taking off" you mean "preparing to rush out the next Xbox out to screw over its customers once again while ignoring the prevalent hardware issues with the 360", then you are correct.

Or by Microsoft "taking off" did you mean "losing its 1st-party and 2nd-party developers faster than the SEGA Dreamcast"? Because you'd also be correct if you meant that.

Please clarify.

I wish that Sony, Nintendo, Apple, or someone else would do an "Mac vs PC" commercial but using consoles.

Sony: "Hi. I'm a PS3"

M$: "And I'm a 360"

Sony: "Whoa! Where are you going, 360? You're all packaged up in that cool cardboard box!"

M$: "Repairs. Again."

Sony: "Ouch. Red Ring of Death? Good thing you have a warranty for that."

M$: "No, actually. I s...

LOL.

Good luck with that. Microsoft learning their lesson? Are you kidding me?!? Have you used a Microsoft product within the last 10 years?

6283d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

What market share? The 360 still hasn't surpassed the sales of the original Xbox, and you also have to take into account the amount of industry growth (i.e. new market share).

6283d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

There still is a big problem. The RRoD isn't the only hardware issue with the 360, yet it's the only one covered by warranty.

I invite you to read this in-depth article about how Microsoft rushed the 360 to market fully knowledgeable about the hardware issues:

Unfortunately, this woman probably won't win.

Unfortunately, the gaming press won't do its job and call Microsoft out on the CONTINUED hardware failures (and I'm not just talking about RRoD).

It's really quite pathetic how so many so-called "gamers" have willingly accepted Microsoft's shoody business practices.

"OH! BUT THE 360 HAS SUCH GREAT GAMES!!!" Give me a break.

But this is the saddest part: anyone notice the "once again" at the top? You know, the part where it said "PS3 has once again outsold the 360 this quarter"?

First of all, what is a quarter? It is a period of several months. Second of all, what's "once again"? Oh, it means that this happened earlier this year, too.

It's pathetic how an article like this struggles to get approved. PS3 outselling 360 for two consecutive quarters is newswort...

Microsoft has been driving away its developers since Halo 2. Anyone happen to remember that many of Bungie's key development team members left the company after Halo 2 because they were fed up with Microsoft's tyrannical reign?

But Microsoft doesn't care. They just throw money around. Soon this practice will bite them in the butt when they realize that they no longer have any strong exclusive titles coming out for their system.

And it is at that time Microsoft will r...

Oh wow. So Rare won't fix an issue in their biggest title in years (and Microsoft's biggest "family friendly" game in years)?

Poke fun all you want at the "Patchstation 3", but at least when PS3 games have issues (recent examples: SOCOM, LBP, or MGS Online), the developers are very quick to solve the problems.

I loved Dead Space. Definitely one of my fav games for this year, but Yahtzee is always good for a cheap chuckle.
