"aah Microsoft is such pros at fixing their issus."
For the sake of humanity, I truly hope you were being sarcastic there.
And people pay money for this...
This game has been getting a lot of mediocre review scores, yet people defend it by saying "Well, it's a solid game. It's a lot of fun. Blah blah blah". Why doesn't this logic apply to OTHER games such as Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank? Those games scored quite high compared to Nuts and Bolts yet they were called flops!
Oh, the logic of fanboys...
This really shoots holes in the arguement that the $50 a year for Live on the 360 is worth it. I mean, if Microsoft is providing the exact same service on the PC, but for FREE, why do 360 owners have to pay?
History lesson: games were hard to steal more quarters. Don't be under the false impression that Contra was super-hard just because Konami was hardcore. Contra was hard because Konami wanted to make some $$$ in the arcades. Unfortunately, lots of older gamers misunderstand this and treat their difficult games as some sort of elite standard.
These days, game difficulty is the same farce. It artificially extends the life of the game and gives the "hardcore" more fuel to f...

You know, I'd bet the Lincoln Memorial that the vast majority of "casuals" who play LBP wouldn't notice the so-called "bad jumping controls". After all, if they are casuals, they don't play many video games. And if they don't play many video games, they don't have a frame of reference to compare the controls. I really don't understand the complaints against the controls, anyway. I've never had a problem. Are they different than a lot of other sidescrol...
@ blindfrmthesun and beans
So you equate the different position of "Super Zombies" as more random than R2? Let me also clarify that I have nothing against L4D, but at least in R2 they switch up the locations and objectives each time. In L4D, you travel through the same area, and the spawn points ARE the same. In the Subway level from the demo (for example), once you go downstairs toward the escalators there will ALWAYS be a Hunter and a Boomer, and a Smoker will ALWAYS ...
Unfortunately, that IS the end of the story.
And they left out the HDD, free online, and Wi-Fi adapter.
So in reality:
PS3 built with a high-quality Blu Ray player for $400
OR
360 ($200) + HDD ($100) + Wi-Fi ($100) + 1-year of XBL ($50) + cheap Blu Ray player ($200-$300)
The math is pretty simple.
@ Lord Xire
The zombies in L4D spawn in the "same area" each time just like in Resistance 2, so I don't know why you're complaining. Obviously, R2 is more of a large-scale military shooter whereas L4D is close-quarters, but both games rely on spawn points and both games scale based on your party size and skill.
The randomness in R2 and L4D are pretty dang near identical. Practically speaking, show me ONE instance where L4D's randomness is better than R2.
The PS3 is priced higher because it offers far more features than the competition. Actually, it's definitely the best value for what you're getting. The built-in hard drive and built-in Wi-Fi jack the $200 360 price right up to $400, and that's without the Blu Ray player or free online.
This is the author's opinion, so I'm gonna give my own:
Sackboy -- at the core -- is a very simple game. Both the core gameplay and the customization are very easy to understand. Yes, hardcore gamers might get more out of the game, but beginners can grasp the concept quite easily.
I also laugh at people who downplay the game because "I don't feel like spending 10 hours making one level". That's so sad. If you don't want to make a level, then don't. It's VER...
It's sad that a decent game like Gears 2 has to be hampered by the faulty hardware of the 360. Stuff like this is what happens when you try to cram next-gen content onto a measly DVD9 disc.
@ Xi
Usually, yes, Valve pushes the envelope.
However, Left 4 Dead doesn't really push anything. Is it dang fun? Yes. However, the power of the "Director" mechanic is greatly overexaggerated. I have played through the demo dozens of times and it is easy to see patterns and spawn points after only a few plays. There are parts where a Hunter will almost ALWAYS spawn or a spot on a specific wall where enemies will break through.
If Left 4 Dead's w...
I played it on the 360 with my friend (2-player split-screen plus 2 online players) and I really enjoyed playing it on Expert. It's extremely fun and extremely challenging. I also like how it is lag-free. With that said, you have to be a blind fanboy if you defend the graphics. The pop-in is absolutely terrible, and the graphic textures aren't all that great. The levels are very bland as far as geometry and objects goes, and there will be objects that don't pop into view until you are literal...
Gears 2 has the best graphics of 2008? Puleeeze!
Okay, if you compare a touched-up screenshot with another game...maybe. But what really matters is how the game looks in motion, right?
In which case, MGS4 (which is several months old) wipes the floor with Gears 2. The textures are far more detailed, and Konami proves it by having plenty of cinematic cutscenes that show the textures (especially facial textures) up close, whereas Gears 2 rarely brings the camera within...
The screencaps (which are from the beta multiplayer, no less) don't do the game justice. I'm not the first person who has said this, and I won't be the last.
Seeing the game IN MOTION is something that must be experienced. Even gameplay videos (again, which are usually from the beta) don't do the game justice. I've played the multiplayer demo (again for a third time, which is just a beta) and the game is a massive leap forward as far as graphics go.
It's not just a...
Let's be serious for a moment. What is there to be jealous of?
And I love how the rep says "when you consider that history shows that more than three-fourths of a console's sales come at a price of $199 or lower". That's another one of Microsoft's lies. Oh, but Microsoft loves to spin numbers, attach rates, and percentages to appease the shareholders.
Yes, that quote is true in the case of a few consoles (like the PS2, for instance), but what about the Dreamcast? What about the Neo Geo? What about the Saturn? What about the Atari 2...
This review score was expected. The writer has said on multiple occasions that he isn't sold on the concept, so I didn't expect him to give it a fair chance.
