Meh. Storyline is why I play RPGs. No reason to play an RPG with a crappy plot, crappy characters, and crappy dialog when there are far better choices out there on the PC, 360, PS3, DS, and PSP.
Wow. A huge pile of FUD if I ever heard it...
Maybe Microsoft finally admits that Linux is a threat...by opening up a lawsuit. lol.
@ Elven
Well, it depends on the developer. ;) I may be a lowly "gamer", but if a developer says one thing (like such-and-such system can't handle these kind of graphics) and then lo and behold I see a game with those graphics, what am I supposed to believe?

Get with the times. Microsoft sent out "goodie bags" to Halo 3 reviewers at the end of 2007. This isn't the first time they've done it. Another recent example was when they sent out free "reviewing laptops" to review outlets when Vista was just coming out.
You may love the 360, but don't defend Microsoft's shady business practices.
These kind of exploits make me sick.
It's a topic because many amateur journalists still (falsely) believe that they have more business sense than Sony does.
Console versions? Notice the "s".
A multiplat Bioware RPG for all gamers to enjoy? Game on.
Gears 2 was a fun game, but it was a flawed game. If you look at the awards they handed out and the games that won, Gears 2 doesn't really fit.
However, the author betrays his stance when he says "However, it seems that the game hasn’t been getting as much attention as it truly deserves." WHAT?!?! Seriously? Gears 2 was one of the most-hyped and highest-selling game of 2008.

So graphics make an RPG good? Huh. And here I thought that innovating the battle system or putting in a good story was the way to make an RPG stand out from the seething mass of mediocre RPGs on the market...
It's a pretty straightforward argument. Halo Wars is a spin-off. I'm not calling it a good game. I'm not calling it a bad game. It's a spin-off, and spin-offs never sell as well as the main franchise.
Plus, in these harsh economic times, I doubt Microsoft can afford to send out $1,000 Halo grab bags to all the reviewers....again.
(that last part was sarcasm, just in case you overly-zealous fanboys start going apesh*t on me)
Sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory to me. I don't know the content of the video since I haven't seen it, but it's possible that the video contained Microsoft-related stuff (like video game footage) that Viacom wasn't comfortable with him showing off.
Then again, it is odd that Viacom would personally go to Youtube and have a user take a video off. THAT aspect of the story (if it's true) sounds a bit suspicious.
If that's the best this generation has to offer, that's pathetic. The list completely ignored the glut of amazing RPGs that have come out on the handhelds (if you're an RPG gamer, get a handheld). The only game I truly enjoyed on that list was Valkyria Chronicles (well, Star Ocean isn't out yet, but it looks like I'm going to pass on it). All the other games were either okay or just plain bad.
It's "free" versus "not free". That's what it boils down to. Plus, as a general rule of thumb, I find online multiplayer to be more stable on PSN. Lag-free 60-player Resistance 2 says "Hi", yet Gears 2 had/still has trouble getting 10 people to play together without a basket full of lag.
CAPCOM declared long ago that they were going to be a "multiplatform company". So, it's not to hard to believe that LP2 will be multiplat.
I'm not sure what to think of this game. It looks cool, and it's the team behind Dead Space (awesome game), but it could end up being crappy. Hmmmm.
Everyday Shooter is quite cool. It's very musical.
I still say that Wipeout HD is the best deal for ANY console download. $20 for one of the best-looking and most fully-fledged racing games on the market. Can't pass that up.
LOL. Does it make me old and/or a major geek if I've personally experienced pretty much every entry on this list?
@ RememberThe
Oh, Okami. R.I.P.
I see what you mean. I guess I just have a different perspective on it. I'm a PC gamer at heart, so even games that have "poor" sales tend to get sequels on the PC if the core fanbase is there, so in my eyes it's really not that important for a game -- not even a multi-million dollar game -- to become the next "Halo" in sales for it to be a success in my book.
I thought they "solved" it four or five motherboard versions ago.
I'll believe it when I see it...
