Playing the game yourself >>>>>>> reading a review.

I know people don't have a ton of spare time. I know people don't have unlimited money. However, why should you miss out on a game that's good simply because a review (which is just another opinion) tells you that it's a bad game? Why should you waste your money on a game that a review says is good but you end up hating it?

It's an opinion piece, just like the many opinion articles stating that "Halo 4 will blow Killzone 2 out of the water" and whatnot. Of course, here on N4G it always seems that any article that takes an overly pro-Sony stance is worthy of reporting, but singing the praises of Microsoft (even if it means fudging the facts) is perfectly legit.

I don't know if they're relying on it as far as the console itself goes (there are certainly other games to buy on the 360), but when it comes to their PR and marketing they act as if Halo is the ONLY game worth playing. I'd like Microsoft to flaunt some of that supposed "innovation and variety" they always brag about. It's hard to believe that statement when their three biggest exclusives are a first-person Space Marine shooter, a third-person Space Marine shooter, and a third-pers...

Sony didn't win anything? A game called "Killzone 2" says Hello. It shut the mouths of every hater in the industry and many people are still scratching their heads, trying to figure out a new way to hate on Sony.

I'll take the few JRPGs on the PS3 to the crappy JRPGs that the 360 has been getting.

Well, it comes at no surprise. The PS3's hardware is more powerful. Plus, the devs had longer to make this version than the 360 version.

I'm puzzled by people (even PS3 gamers) who willingly consign to the idea that PSN is automatically inferior to LIVE.

As for me, I'd rather take the stable servers of PSN to the (generally) immature community and laggy Peer-to-peer of LIVE, even if it means I have to forgo cross-game chat and invites.

Same here. EA was at its best when it had to compete with other franchises (namely the 2k series). I think most gamers can agree that Madden has stagnated quite a bit in recent years.

Nice. Let's see if the sales last. Remember, one of the biggest (and most valid) criticisms of all those "OMG! 360 SOLD SO MANY UNITS IN JAPAN!!!!" articles is that the sales drop back down to zero just a few short weeks. The PS3 has been selling better, but let's only start celebrating when it can consistently sell better than the Wii.

I've played quite a bit of fighting games since the days of Street Fighter 2 (I was that kid in the arcade dropping quarters like mad). I'd consider myself pretty skilled at fighting games and I've even won a few tournaments.

As such, I am EXTREMELY glad they gave props to Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike and Guilty Gear. Both of those games -- in my opinion -- are at the absolute top of the 2D pile if you're a serious fighting game fan. Of course, I love lots of 2D fighting games li...

I have played this game and it is quite disappointing. The combat is fun but that barely distracts from the horrible storyline and horrible voice acting. I have played the Star Ocean series since Second Story and I am insulted by how dumbed-down and childish this game is. That's just my opinion based upon hands-on experience with the game (about 5 hours worth).

Sorry Square-Enix, but you've officially been put on my "look how crappy they've gotten" list of publishers.

LOL. I guess all you have to do is label someone a "fanboy" and the importance of their opinion disappears. It's a well-known fact that CNET is on its knees before Microsoft every morning. It's a well-known fact that they are one of the top publishers of "Sony is doomed!" and "Apple is doomed!" articles. It is a well-known fact that they are affiliated with Microsoft.

So for CNET to call those people fanboys is...well...I hate to use this old cliche....

I think that too many people are putting too much faith in this game. The game is made by a fairly average developer with a fairly average track record. I haven't seen a single aspect of this game that looks unique or overly entertaining.

Heck yeah. I had to hack my PSP to play those games, and before anyone says it, I own the games I put on my PSP.

Well, I'm a gamer, and if Ninja Blade was the best I had to look forward to...I'd take up another hobby.

Halo will do fine. It's a popular game with mass-market appeal. The only "trouble" it's in is that a lot of the hardcore gamer fanbase has abandoned it for other games like CoD4, Gears, etc. From a marketing standpoint, that's not a big deal. It just means that it will continue to get more and more mass-market until it has the sophistication of Pokemon Trozei.

I mean, let's not kid ourselves. Halo is certainly a fun franchise, but it's not a very deep game when it comes...

It's odd. We have articles that complain about Killzone 2's controls yet in the same breath we have articles that defend the crappy controls in Resident Evil 5.

Silly gaming media is silly.

It's funny how some people will get up in arms about review scores (Killzone 2 and Halo Wars, anyone?) and scream "OH! IT'S HIS OPINION! LET HIM HAVE IT, FANBOY!" yet when someone insults the supposed "best ARR-PEE-GEE EVARRR" no one is allowed to have an opinion....

In my opinion, FF7 was average when it came out (aside from the graphics and soundtrack) and it's an average game today. There were better RPGs at the time and there are better RPGs now. If you li...

@ evrfighter

FF8 had its own share of problems, but many people focus on those problems instead of the game's strengths. On the other hand, FF7 is full of problems yet the fanbase ignores those problems.

My main point was to say that FF7 IS overhyped and it IS over-esteemed. It was a good game for its time but it is not deserving of the massive fanbase that follows it. There were better RPGs before FF7, there were better RPGs at the same time as FF7, and there were b...
