To increase demand further and steal sales away from the Xbox ecosystem with the X.

I'm wondering why they don't allow it. They still need to render the games at their target resolutions and framerate (on essentially a server of PS4s). Is it just that they're trying to save bandwidth/money? Bitrate should be capped at much higher than it is.

Well into next gen. Seriously, I'm guessing 2020 at the earliest.

If a game doesn't have proper pro support I don't buy it (new, at least). Bare bones support (even just a straight 1440p) isn't much to ask.

It's crazy how people don't understand this. The amount of base Xbox Ones and PS4s out there absolutely dwarves the amount of mid gen consoles there are.

It's like overwatch but with less reliance on team comp and teamwork and more reliance on skill. It's definitely a skill based game.

I'd argue to switch the words value and price in that title.

Only 1 in 5 PS4s sold is a Pro, and that's with there only being a 100 dollar gap on MSRP. The Xbox One X costs literally twice as much as the S.

It will not sell gangbusters. A relatively niche 4K console is not what could have saved Microsoft this generation. They needed games. They're doing a lot right, but they're giving no reason for me (PS4 Pro and PC gamer) to buy an Xbox.

I know this isn't exactly on topic, but I still can't believe I got a used PS4 Pro for 270 dollars. PC fanboys can go on and on about building your own system, used parts, etc, but you can never get the same value for money out of PC gaming. Yes, a 2000 dollar PC will be better than aby console, obviously. But I mean shouldn't it be?

Technically it's 40 percent (that's actually what Microsoft themselves advertises, I saw it on a Facebook Xbox One X ad). But in terms of how much better most games will visually look you're looking at maybe 20 percent.

Yeah, it's not that he's stupid, just manipulative and deceitful. According to his logic the Xbox one was never competition to the PS4 (Oh wait... It barely was lol).

The PS3 was actually more powerful if devs made use of it, it was just too different from the 360 so multiplats suffered. But come 2010 the PS3s exclusives looked noticeably better than 360 games.

Also yeah the 360 was sure an engineering marvel... With its 54 percent failure rate and gouging of discs.

Try Checkerboard 1800p bub. 2160p is 44 percent more pixels than 1800p and the X is 40 percent more powerful. Simple math.

Hit the nail on the head. I've been saying this for months: most games on Pro don't manage either a native 1800p or CB 2160p image. The games that do could mathematically run at Native 2160p on the X (40 percent more power matches to the necessary 40 percent more performance), but everything that doesn't won't be able to without some other downgrade.

BTW they used the word "true" instead of native for a reason (to deceive people).

3180d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

And it might even hit CB 2160p on Pro like Horizon did.

3180d ago 9 agree2 disagreeView comment

It really is a great technology. I'd choose CB 2160p over Native 1800p anyday (not that the difference is big). Checkerboarding and dynamic res scaling are essential to getting the absolute best out of hardware.

It's just ironic. If the X is a true 4K console (some games at Native, most checkerboard) then my Pro is a less powerful true 4K console and I'm loving it.

Just to let you know, this was inevitable since the 6TF figure was released. Most games on Pro run at either 1440p (lazy developers) or Checkerboard 1800p (with the occasional native 1800p or native 4K). Mathematically a 40 percent power increase over checkerboard 1800p gives you either native 1800p, or checkerboard 2160p.
There will be many Native 4K games on the X but mostly they'll be games that are already managing native 1800p or CB 2160p on Pro. Most games don't hit t...

Most likely CB 1800p. I've been seeing this for half a year. A 40 percent power increase (which is what Microsoft themselves has advertised: "40 percent more powerful than any other console") is enough to bring 1800p to 2160p (2160p is 44 percent more pixels).

Explain to me your actual proof that all those games with 4K in the corner were actually 4K though. Spoiler alert: they're not. For example: AC Origins is Checkerboard 4K with dynamic resolution scaling. Many of not most third party games will not be Native 2160p.

You can't trust Microsoft OR Sony in this regard.

4K Blu Ray is a valid point tho. Luckily it doesn't bother me however since I can't afford to spend 30 dollars on one movie hah...

Graphics will only improve in an easy to run game like Forza which is managing native 4K with headroom to spare. Third party games won't. AC Origins is Checkerboard 4K with dynamic res scaling, and most other third party games won't be native 4K either. Unless the Pro version manages a native 1800p with no trickery, the X can't mathematically hit 2160p without trickery (you know, checkerboarding, temporal injection, blah de blah).
Mind you these are good technologies. W...
