The X isn't different enough to justify that. Any game that can run on the X can run on the base system at a lower resolution/without UHD textures. The CPU is only a 30 percent improvement, so games scale. Same goes with the Pro. There won't be exclusive games for these mid gen systems because they're only capable at pushing more pixels, not new experiences. They'll also never have the install bases of the original systems.
I've never seen anyone use the abbreviation GeOW, but yeah, it's definitely confusing haha.
Yeah, these videos are so cringey. The Pro doesn't improve graphics, it improves resolution.
Checkerboarding requires more than half the power of native though, because the rest of the pixels have to be rendered at reduced precision. That's why CB only gives like a 35 to 40 percent performance increase, instead of double. It's technically true that it's twice as many native pixels, but if that excites you then you don't understand the technology...
I've only got like 190gb on my razer blade... I'd play this game at 1080p 60fps with medium to high settings to make sure I hold 60. But if I'd be forced to use up all the space on my laptop, no thanks. Fuck forced 4K textures.
Agreed. For those who enjoy the game have fun. But to me, it barely even feels like a game.
It sure didn't in the beta.
There won't be a game that can run on these consoles but not their predecessors. The CPU improvements are only 30 percent. These consoles push more pixels, and occasionally higher framerates or better graphics. They won't be doing brand new things.
Even on PS4 player count isn't great.
Most games don't let you choose 60fps (not necessarily the devs fault though, chances are the pro might only hit 45-55 fps in their game at 1080p). But every game that I can play at a increased framerate I do. Infamous and No man's Sky are both great at 60fps instead of 35-40 uncapped. I just wish crash could be 60.
On topic of this game, I really wish I was interested in this genre because these devs seem very solid. Hope it succeeds.
Feels different to me (I seem to be using primary weapons 95% of the time and barely get to touch grenades, melee abilities, supers, or unique guns like the first).
Worst part is that I still don't enjoy the PvP haha. It may be more balanced but I'm sure not having any fun with it at all. Seems like you need a fireteam of 4 to have a good time (which you then can't go play and PvE because your fireteam size is incorrect).
Not sure which is worse, the essentially primary only weapon system, or dumbed down ability customization and cool downs.
Updated in the wrong direction at that. They should've just focused on making more interesting worlds to explore (so that patrol was actually something you could play and have fun in).
I have over a thousand hours in Destiny. Destiny 2 is an expansion that gimps all the abilities and customization that made the game fun and unique in the first place. The gameplay is stale and repetitive now.
No it doesn't. An expansion might still be fun.
It feels like what Destiny would have been with 3X grenade and melee cooldown, a much much longer super recharge, way less customization across the board, and more boring gameplay owing to the fact that 90% of the time you're using a primary weapon (2 primary slots, special slot and heavy slot are fused and getting ammo for these interesting weapons is very rare).
I didn't want this, I just wan...
Everything has been neutered. Grenades take 80 seconds to recharge. Melee abilities and supers are much longer too. Way less customization and variability in abilities, weapons, armor, everything. Power ammo never drops and all the fun weapons are in the power slot, so essentially you just have 2 primary weapons. You have two normal primary weapons with the occasional bit of something else when it's finally off cool down/you have ammo.
Pass for me. Played for 2 hours a...
Plenty of people wouldn't be able to handle it, but it wouldn't be forced (you play at the best quality you can handle). 60fps would also give the benefit of cutting 16ms of input lag.
For years I was stuck with 3mbps with no option to upgrade, I know what it's like. But if I've got 100mbps, I should be allowed to play with as close to a native experience as possible with that connection.
My point is that these games already have to be r...
Needs to support 1080p 60fps asap. I mean GO3 Remastered is actually worse on PS4 through PS Now than it was on PS3 (720p 30fps compressed image and input lag).
Does Sony need to drop the price of the Pro? No, of course they don't. They'll assuredly lose profit with a price drop, the increase in sales can't make up for the loss in profit per console. But more consoles WOULD sell, and less people would purchase the X as it would be a worse relative value. If two ice cream shops are selling cones next to each other and are having equal sales, one of the shops lowering prices would result in more sales for them and less sales for their compe...
"the former is an iterative, conservative refresh of its base system, while the latter represents a full, radical overhaul."
40 percent more GPU power, 33 percent more ram, 10 percent faster CPU. That isn't radically different. That's just what you expect from a piece of technology coming out a year later for an extra hundred dollars...
