For me personally, if I'm playing a game at Checkerboard 1800p while the X plays it at Native 4K, that won't bug me very much. CB 1800p (such as in Infamous, Watch Dogs 2, Mass Effect, etc) looks plenty great to me and not all that different from CB 4K and Native 4K once you're playing the game. I'm wondering how many X fans have actually seen the difference playing a game, because most don't own a Pro.
Besides, lots of games won't even be that much...
Not every game can run at 60fps on the X. It's not possible. The CPU is only a 30 percent upgrade, not every game can double its framerate with a 30 percent CPU bump, even with a huge GPU bump. CPU heavy games such as crackdown and destiny will remain at 30fps to be stable.
Same tech as used in ratchet and clank, sounds good to me.
I think they pulled everything out last year (even if the game was 2 years away from release or more) because they wanted insane hype going into the holiday season in which they released both the Pro and PSVR. Although I did find this conference underwhelming (too short), I still think it was better than the completion because it actually showed be a reason to want a Playstation.
I think this would've been a 9 conference instead of a 7.5 if they had thrown in some shad...
@Soc5
I believe that all the modern consoles use an APU, which is cheaper to manufacture (purchase) and traditionally has a stronger GPU than CPU. Chances are this inbalance is prioritization. Big GPU numbers and high resolutions are easier to advertise and show off. Hopefully this changes with time, because 60fps is more important to me than 4K.
Games that are bottlenecked by the Xbox One CPU will also be bottlenecked by the CPU in the X. It's a 30 percent CPU bump. Same improvement as the Pro. Destiny happens to be a game that's hard on the CPU more than the GPU (hence why it's identical on PS4 and X1 despite the PS4 having a more powerful GPU).
The X couldn't run Destiny 2 at 60 fps.
The X also still has a relatively weak CPU (only 30 percent more powerful than the base system). Chances are that at 1080p, the framerate wouldn't be able to hold a locked 60.
Many PS4 Pro games only see a 50 percent performance boost at 1080p (30fps to 45 fps in FF15, 40fps to 60fps in Infamous). If the CPU is a bottleneck in a game (such as Destiny) then 30 percent more won't be able to double the framerate, even with a huge GPU boost.
Would have been a good end.
Mathematically should be 79.99 with exchange rate. This is BS. You poor souls.
What disappoints me most is that I thought the game on all hardware ran at 60. The reveal trailer was in silky smooth 60fps.

I'm still gonna buy the game but I feel deceived. I was under the impression that the game was gonna run at 1080p60 on PS4 and like 1800p60 on Pro. Really disappointed. I personally don't think the graphics are THAT good, but ...
At the very least they could have done Checkerboard 1800p. CB 1800p and native 1440p have the same GPU strain but obviously 1800p looks much closer to 4K.
Tired of lazy devs not maximizing consoles with wonderful tech line checkerboarding and dynamic resolution scaling.
The scorpio is only 40 percent more powerful than the Pro lol. It's not like it's some twice or three times as powerful God console. Chill brah.
Tell me with honesty. Did you watch the video or read the title?
Not everyone has a 1080ti. Dynamic resolution scaling and checkerboard rendering are two extremely efficient technologies that help get the most out of hardware.
Try to be objective here, this is a serious question. Would you actually choose (suppose you have say a 1070) to play a game at 2160p 40 fps, over Checkerboard 2160p LOCKED 60fps (the locked being due to the resolution slightly lo...

Got a 50 inch 4K Samsung, and I've got perfect 20/20 vision. It definitely does not affect the the gameplay experience.
I will admit that I could see a very slight clarity difference on the side by side super zoom in the digital foundry video. Maybe I could see the difference if I had 2 TVs running a game at identical settings besides the resolutions. But when I'm actually playing a game (especially, you know, moving the camera like a normal person d...
I can't even see the difference. I've tried. Switching the last of us between the two resolutions I really can't see a difference in clarity, even INCHES from the screen. I'm not denying that there are some (if not many) that can, but it's not worth the horsepower imo.
The exact checkerboard coefficient varies by game and implementation but it's around 2/3rds to 3/4ths. In battlefield 1, a comparison made is 16ms vs 21ms frame time (about 62 fps vs 47). In mass effect Andromeda a comparison shows 23.4ms vs 36.8 (about 43fps vs 27). There's actually a 60 percent performance boost in Andromeda's case through checkerboard rendering.
Here's a link to a very long dice slideshow on the topic (which I found the above examples in)...
Especially Kingdom hearts 3. They announced it back in 2013 before the PS4 came out. Chances are that the PS5 will come out before this game releases.
Bro. Seriously, stop drinking the Kool aid. Assassins Creed Origins run at CHECKERBOARD 4K WITH DYNAMIC RESOLUTION SCALING (meaning it will drop below 2160p). That's at 30fps btw.
The X is literally only 40 percent more powerful than the Pro. That's not enough to run everything at Native 4K, especially not at 60fps. Xbox One X versions will by and large be slightly clearer PS4 Pro versions.
