HW issues are fading away(I hope), and price is the only other factor for me atm.

so I'll be getting one of these. Probably in a year's time, as this stuff tends to drop in price fairly quickly.

on the latest and greatest machines. Let's see...zero graphical improvements, no physics whatsoever, same old tired EVERYTHING, we now just get 60fps...*yawn*

Color me unimpressed. Try harder EA.

You would think that with what is possibly the most lucrative sports franchise ever that they would actually reinvest some of those profits into their development studio. I'm talking more education, better tools, plentiful resources, and bigger budgets overall for these ...

Most teasers have quite a bit more flair and substance than this one did. If THAT was an official teaser...Midway may as well hang it up and call it quits.

That Gears of War trailer from GDC...now THAT is a teaser. Some dull hackneyed phrases and a horrible photoshop of Raiden doesn't convince me. Nice try though.

Here we go again. The atypical review score zombie trying to sound informed and profound because he looked at a NUMBER.

Well tell us, Mr. Enlightened all-knowing gamer, what does that 88 tell you? What's the main characters name? What platforms are the game on? Story? Gameplay mechanics? Sound? Control? Environments? Run-time engine features?

I'm glad that you can accurately gauge all of these factors from an arbitrary number.

Boy...you score hounds are ...

There is no such thing as a game that is "about graphics".

I'm getting sick of that excuse used as a crutch to give R* a free pass for mediocrity in the visual department.

EVERY game is about gameplay, we all know that, so go preach to some other choir. EVERY game is about gameplay, hence the namesake GAME. G-A-M-E. Therefore, this ridiculous, pretentious little crutch that GTA has somehow discovered this "gameplay" thing that all other GAMES lack...

I like the style they're going for, but the graphical fidelity itself is way off the mark.

Really, there are too many impressive looking titles coming out for stuff like this to compete.

I'm sure Sony is still hard at work cutting manufacturing costs(they'd be idiots not to), so if there's another price cut by years end(which I doubt, to be honest), coupled with the compelling list of titles slated for this year...sales should be very good.

nowhere am I questioning to capabilities and functionality of the machine itself. I'm simply pointing out the glaring difference between the time frames.

Last year, with the same functionalities as today, it was pushed as that all encompassing media box. Today, with the same functionalities, it isn't being pushed that way. My only thing is, which paradigm was right?

If it's todays philosophy, then why bother to have done so much campaigning on the other front in the ...

Yeah, it still has HDMI, still can d/l HD movies, and so on. I simply meant exactly what I said.

The 360 was touted as an HD media box back then. Now, it isn't. That simple.

The problem with the FPS genre is that the mechanics inherent to it don't really allow for much variation.

Because of this, it's very difficult to differentiate one shooter from another when you strip away all the artistic and stylistic aesthetics. A lot of games resort to some gimmick that falls flat on it's face and loses it's novelty fairly quickly, and it certainly doesn't help.

For this reason, when I look for a shooter, I just look for one that has the fundamen...

Cel-shading is criminally underutilized, and it's a shame too, because the results can be very satisfying.

The thing I like about it is that if it's done with a bit of effort, it looks far cleaner than traditional 3D graphics, even if it dismisses the realistic look that everyone and their mom are trying too hard(and failing miserably at, I might add) to achieve.

In any case, it's not like you MUST go for a cliche cartoon or anime style with cel-shading. You coul...

and owned whose environments and objects have the same level of graphical fidelity as it's character models. MGS has character models that are second to none. Better than CoD, way better than Killzone, but the environments look blurry and muddy. WTF?

On the whole it still looks very impressive, one of the better looking titles coming this year, but the graphics are inconcsistent. The backgrounds look good, don't get me wrong, but the obvious drop-off in quality hurts the overal...

I'm shocked that this is a PSN title. Why couldn't Warhawk look this good?

Seems like the only ones tooting their horn about Blu-Ray now are the disgruntled folks in the HD-DVD camp. Who cares, really? It's a bloody disc format, big whoop.

Talk about sour grapes, the spin doctors are in full force.

Give them a little bit of exposure, a little bit of attention, and all of a sudden they think they're some kind of authority on a subject. This is no different.
