This is the sort of thing that developers need to be doing. Pooling resources so that all of them, and in turn the consumer, can benefit.
Ladies and gents, this is half the reason why Killzone 2 is as ambitious a project as it is. 130+ developers across the globe and upwards of 20 million dollars isn't for nothing.
Expect Sony and Guerrilla to do something very similar on a possibly larger scale in the wake of Killzone 2's completion.

I'm not the biggest fan of the game, but I've gotta say, that chainsaw rifle is easily one of the coolest new weapons to emerge from gaming, regardless of genre. Epic nailed it right on the money with that one.

The Tales series is among my favorites, regardless of genre. Great RPGs, real-time battles before it was the hip thing to do, and some of the best character development in the business.
Those of you who've still got a PS2, I highly recommend Tales of the Abyss.

TDK has been grinding away at the technology for a while, and are experimenting with 6 layer discs at 33 GB per layer. That's roughly 200GB right there, and who knows how many more layers they can squeeze out of it. I've heard that the theoretical max is 10, but I don't know this, so don't quote me.
With that said, Blu-Ray doesn't need a successor simply because of how flexible it is.
