It's one thing to protect a new, yet to be seen intellectual property, but once it's a successful franchise, there's just no point.
Yes, I'm looking at you, Cliffy B and Gears, among others.
Since when was killing the protagonist taboo? Happens ALL the time.
If a game, or any media franchise, for that matter, is truly great, it stands on the merits of the sum of all it's parts. No single character, set-piece, or symbol should dominate a game so much that the game relies on or is defined by it.
Why do you think Warcraft has been going so strong? The majority of the characters have been killed off. Star Trek, as much as I hate it, is another example.
Cheers.
George Lucas with Star Wars and Ed Boon with Mortal Kombat instantly spring to mind.
There are countless instances where the original creator ruins their own product.
I don't believe MGS to be one of those so far, but for what it's worth, I thought MGS3 was the pinnacle of the franchise, infinitely better than 4 in every conceivable way.
At least they get the clear cut distinction of Marine, as opposed to today's Marines who are all too often called "soldiers" left and right.
Super. Mario. Brothers.
This isn't even worth thinking about.
How does that guy still have a job?
if StarCraft 2 released for the PS3. I hope this comes to fruition.
Wait and see.
...Again I ask, where are these resources you apparently know so much about that detail what sort of "experience and expertise" one must have to give an opinion about a hobby? A recreational activity for crying out loud. That's what a lot of you self-proclaimed "hardcore gamers", a title many seem to be proud of for whatever reason, don't seem to understand, and you take this stuff far too seriously.
Would the headline be ridiculous to you if it said, "Pl...
Getting your car repaired is a service that strictly requires someone with first hand knowledge and certification. It's a job, an assigned task.
However, gaming is a hobby. Last time I checked, there wasn't a rule book or ten ancient tomes stating what qualifications one must have to state an OPINION on something, and that's the part you can't seem to grasp.
I know you do grasp it though, you're probably just being stubborn because the subject matter isn't to your li...
I'd like them to at least wait until next fall. I don't think one year would be enough time to refine the engine, design new levels, and in general add more to the franchise. Good things come to those who wait, and with all the good titles coming out this year, I can wait for Killzone until next year.
For what it's worth, I liked the music. Not too sure about it, but as a fan of the games I'll check it out. Doesn't look terrible, but time will tell.
both sides of the paying field can learn from one another.
IMO, to suggest anything else is stifling creativity and putting up more barriers. This would allow both sides of the world to explore beyond certain horizons that they typically don't venture into.
I'd just love to explore Santa Monica's interpretation of Greece and the accompanying mythological locales on a grander scale in a similar vein to Zelda. Kratos has so many tools that are far beyond the hack and slash genre, that I'm honestly quite surprised that GoW 3 didn't take this approach.
I have absolutely no doubts that a GoW adventure game would be an absolute killer. Kratos is a versatile enough character with abilities that would lend well to exploration, strategy, and...
I was kidding. Personally, I couldn't care less, so long as I still get to play the games.
PS2, PS3, and PSP, heh heh.
It is a RUMOR, after all.
Newsflash artistadam: Beta means it's damn near done.
I don't where this school of thought came from that insists upon the final release of games being DRASTICALLY different from their betas. Sorry to burst your bubble, but things in life don't work that way. You don't just conjure up exponential increases in quality and content when it's close to the time for a products release, just doesn't happen.
Killzone 2 was just like it's beta, so was Resistance 2, Warhawk, a...
Those are some of the most ridiculous pretenses I've seen yet.
Talk about hanging on by a thread. With these price drops, it seems that the rest of the world is leaving this petty fanboy nonsense behind. Not this individual apparently.
is how expedient this response was.
Tells me that devs and publishers have scouts actively and frequently checking N4G and the bigger boards like GAF.
We have more power in this community than we might think.
