IW is pissed at Activision, over a comment made by one of the publisher's employees about both games, not at Treyarch.
'Any engineers used in the production of the Xbox 360 are under very strict NDA. What motivation would they have to come forward with information that could potentially hurt their employer?'
Any number of reasons. Maybe there are people out there that actually take pride in their work. Maybe they feel the consumer got screwed and are debating 'whistle-blowing'. Maybe it's just self-preservation. Maybe they don't want that blemish on their resume, to be considered by potenti...
All this sales talk makes me laugh. Here's how I look at it. Microsoft had an install advantage for the year the 360 was sold prior to the release of the PS3. If the PS3 has cut that lead at all, then that means when choice is available, the PS3 is outselling the 360. If the 360's lead grows, it's outselling the PS3. Plain and simple.
Took me between 3 and 4 hours to download it, and I'm using FiOS. There must be a ton of people downloading it for it to take my normally speedy connection that long.
How about just being able to play the campaign from all participants point of view. When someone is trying to render a historically accurate game, there is the opportunity for the player to learn something as well as having fun, and seeing it through all eyes instead of the typical protagonist/antagonist view could be at least thought provoking.
When it comes to people and nations there are rarely absolutes of good and evil and commonly nuanced combinations of both.
Slave trade was fostered and promoted by European nations, who had already outlawed slavery in their own nations. Native Americans were also killed by Europeans prior to American independence. The westward expansion decimated the native American, while an independant nation, but it's difficult to say these things were worse than atrocities caused by European Imperialism. Anybody remember the slaughtering of Central and South American indigenous peoples by the Spanish Conquistadors? All wer...
If the PS3 has closed the lead the 360 had due to releasing a year earlier, then that means Sony has outsold Microsoft during the time in which both consoles were available. Microsoft may have gotten to the ring ahead of Sony, but once Sony climbed through the ropes, they started winning the fight. How many people bought the 360 prior to the release of the PS3 because they were eager to get into then next gen of gaming, as well as there being no other next gen option at the time? It seems w...
'What is a real slap in the face is the "RROD" is kicking the crap out of the PS3 in games sales, console sales, digital distribution, online gaming, assecories, features, graphics, entertainment, arcade gaming, backwards compatibility and just about every other category you could think of.'
Here's one category you missed: Causing dumbass fanboy rants.
Now the list is more complete.
Polyphony Digital
'one of my favorite rifles of all time is the MI Garand'
Mine too, always loved that rifle. It's great fun sending some
.30-06 rounds down range and the classic ping of the eight round clip hitting the ground after ejection is completely nostalgic.
Have you ever fired one, and if so, how are your thumbs?
'PS3 gamers (as a whole) prefer titles that are more of the In your face competition type than of the cute, lovable, or even user-creative platforming type.'
He says this without providing game sale data to back up his theory.
This statement flies right in the face of the accepted stereotypes for consoles found around the internet.
The Wii is for children and non-gamers.
The 360 fan is the 'most dedicated, hardcorest of the hardcore,...
'isn't it just playing dress up dolls with a level editor attached?'
Oh, please post us a picture of your dress up doll once the Mii...err...Avatar system is up and running on XBL.
It's funny how you will dump on something in a game that's going to become a major part of the new interface system for your console of choice. (minus the extremely cool create feature, naturally)
And why are you trolling in a PS3 thread when you cry like a baby with dia...
Mario is different, being a character in arcade games, prior to the console boom. But I will ask, in three weeks after his offical introduction to the world, was he on top?
So everybody expects Sackboy in 3 weeks to undue 30 years of Mario?
And there are those among us who would consider that expectation realistic?
Cliffy rubs some people the wrong way, no doubt, but if Epic and Microsoft have no problem with him and bear no embarassment from his press then screw what some 'journalist' thinks.
I don't particularly care for Cliffy's backhanded compliments towards other developers, as I think they show a lack of class and respect. But if you don't like him, don't read his press. Cliffy is a revelant developer, and the Gears series is great, and will hold a place in videogame history. He ...
It may be juvenile fun, but it is a hell of a lot of fun none the less. To me it's over the top like a good comic book or action movie. No one's expecting Hamlet here. If that's beneath anyone, so be it, and I take no insult from enjoying what others consider juvenile.
By the way.....Pull my finger!
Maybe you should be blaming lawyers and the owners of the copyrighted material, instead of Sony and MM. This in no way lowers the value of this title. Let's all try to be adults and understand how copyrights and law suits work.
Funny thing is, all these people complaining would be the first to blame Sony and MM if they published a copyright infringing level and were named in the lawsuit. '...but, but, Sony and MM should have known better...how was I to know...they shouldn't ...
I prefer to purchase new and support the developers. In fact, I pre-order all must have games for day one purchase (midnight launch for Gears 2), and read several reviews for 'maybe' titles. The only used games I purchase are out of print. I can't see any reason to pay $55.00 for a used copy of a $60.00 game.
I was speaking to a GameStop manager one day, who is a very nice, informed gamer, and whose store is free of fanboy employees. He told me that the repeated trade of a ...
The DLC is a year late? It was supposed to be here for the PS3 November 2007? Old game is a weak arguement. PS3 only owners that didn't play it before will now get a chance, so that's good. If I don't see a movie until a year after it's released, is the movie any better or worse? Hendrix still rules, and his music was probably old before you were born. The DLC doesn't need to be integrated into the main story line as much as it needs to be FUN. I've read a lot of Thom's posts and yours, ...
You know, if it weren't for the English and the Americans, this review would have been written in German.
Just got done trying to play Horde. Can't get through more than ten waves before there's a connection issue. Hope they get it worked out soon.
