'Final Fantasy also has cut scenes, but the difference is gameplay'
Actually the difference is opinion. I don't find talking to 40 random uninteresting people to find the one you need to advance the story to be great gameplay, but others may love it.
I'm not sure where you live, but in the States, the 80GB PS3 is $399.99 at retailers like Best Buy, etc. I hope wherever you are, it reaches an affordable price point for you soon. My experience with the LBP community has been overwhelmingly with good people having fun playing together, and from your post, you seem like you would be a good addition to that community. I've added more friends to my list from playing that game than any other on the PS3. I own both consoles and agree with you...
Am I paying to see the ads in Home?
Maybe that's the difference.
'But mark my words, the moment I go to look at out at the view from my apartment and I see a Car insurance ad staring me back off the face of a cliff, I'm out of there.'
As long as Sony is taking their money to improve Home and PSN and it's not costing me, I don't care in the least about advertisements.
I'm good as long as there are no ads for Kotaku.
@ prowiew
You don't even know how Home launches from the XMB, but you know it's too much like Second Life, and that you will hate it? (by the way it launches from an icon on the XMB)
Home will be worthwhile for the extension it gives to multiplayer online games alone, even if the arcades and socializing don't appeal to you. How about watching live video feeds from various gaming events, which will lead to 'Home exclusive' content from said events? There is alre...
'Both are equipped with their own tweaks - GoW 3 with a second playable character and new game play mechanics, and Gears 3 with it's 5 player co-op.'
Gears 2 box shows co-op as being 2-5 players. Players 3-5 are only in Horde. If you're going to write like you have an inside line, at least tell us how Gears 3 five player co-op is different.
You may want to trim your visits from daily to weekly then, because it seems this is all there is. I come here to find the occasional jewel, and they're becoming harder and harder to find.
Props for the link strotee.
'Every PS3 fan said that the 360 is going to go the way of the Dreamcast'
Wow, you've had enough time to talk to every PS3 fan, all 16 million plus, in numerous languages? You are the man.
'Its funny how every PS3 fans now are giving the excuse of how the the 360 launched first and that's why its in the lead over the PS3.'
What was the 360's lead at launch? What is it now? If the PS3 has cut into that lead at all, that means when choice is avai...
'The overall controls felt extremely sluggish and untuned, with close to a quarter millisecond delay between your controller input and the effect of it in-game.'
This seems odd. A millisecond is 1/1000 or 0.001 seconds. A quarter millisecond is 0.00025 seconds. Doesn't seem like a lot of delay to me. I wonder if he was being tongue-in-cheek, or actually measured it. Anybody have any idea what the delay is on well tuned controls?
I changed my email address from a Yahoo address to my ISP address without a problem. Freak, what model do you have? I have a launch 60GB console, and was wondering if it was a model(s) specific issue. I appreciate the heads up, even though I've had no problems.
A little off topic, I did the same thing on my 360, and all is ok, but I still have to use my Yahoo address (which no longer exists btw) to access xboxlive.com. I checked on xboxlive.com and the email address they h...
Maybe you should actually try playing a Sony exclusive before commenting.
Now that's hilarious Kat. You correct someone's misspelling with another misspelling. It's spelled 'tortoise'. Thanks for the laugh!!
Every console manufacturer loses money on the hardware upfront. The problem with trying to compare MS and Sony, is getting accurate info. MS may say that they're making money on each console, but does that take into account RRoD losses? Over $1 billion lost on RRoD spread out over 25 million units is $40.00 per unit sold. That means their profit on each unit has to exceed $40.00 (from day one mind you, as losses early on mean the back end figures need to be even higher) for them to make m...
'That simply means more people wit ha PS3 bought a copy. Xbox owners may have picked up another title instead. The only way this makes a differance is if both companies sell the same amount of software every day. More Xbox owners bought Madden. Which has more meaning?'
I would look at this from a percentage of the installation base perspective when trying to assess sales data.
'I don't think selling marginally better on either platform will be the incentive a dev...
'It comes at a cost though and so far that has been video game market share.'
There is really insufficient evidence to support that statement, though it may seem as they are. For example, what is the market size?
Has it grown or shrunk since last generation? Are all Wii owners previous console owners, or is this a new segment of the market? I have yet to see a study that addresses these and other issues as far as the market and share are concerned.
As f...
Microsoft is not Epic's publisher, but is the publisher of Gears. The PC, Xbox360, and PS3 versions of UT3, developed by Epic, are published by Midway.
You are absolutely correct. Those of us fortunate enough to own both systems, know there are some great games on both platforms. Bubbles!
Who cares if games are multiplat, as long as quality is similar. People will buy it on their console of preference, and it will have no affect on fanboys on the other side. Seems like a pointless pissing contest to me.
Now, where is the next Parasite Eve?
