'a product that poses little threat as a safety hazzard wouldn't get recalled'
Maybe in the electronics industry. I work in the automotive industry, and I can tell you there are plenty of recalls that aren't safety related. They call them product enhancements or voluntary recalls, as oppossed to mandatory recalls. Microsoft could have easily issued a voluntary recall, which would probably have been a better PR move.
Imagine if they were an auto manufacturer how long this suit's legs would be, even if it weren't a safety related defect, but was a known issue prior to release of the model. A demonstrated willingness to fix the problem would mean nothing. Microsoft should only suffer if it can be proven this issue was known of and ignored by the company prior to the release of the 360. Wanting to get a jump on the competition is not a valid reason to defraud consumers.
Having said that, be...
'Dude, get over it. It's just a silly joke avatar!'
Six million people murdered is not a joke. Surely you're intelligent enough to have known some people may find it offensive when you chose the avatar. Maybe not.
Let me congratulate you on taking the low brow approach and seeing this issue through fanboy glasses as only part of the console war.
The issues are about conflicts of interest, improprieties, and credibility.
Variety can review games any way they choose. Period.
But that's not the point.
Their association with MS could lead to a conflict of interest, and at the very least give the appearance of such, as can be witnessed in this thread, and therefore should not be used by Metacritic.
But Metacritic has their own problem.
They use a weighted average. On one hand it can be said that allows for lending more credence to long established revie...
I experience a short lag when another player is joining a game, and once or twice when dead players tried to leave a game due to unavailability of a check point to respawn the game slowed and took several seconds to allow the players to leave and return control to me. I have FiOS internet so I'm sure my connection is not the issue, although the connection speeds of the other players may be contributing factors. Otherwise, my online experience has been flawless.
Regardless, ne...
'when you sign up to Live you are given a month free anyway? Does that not make up for the month it was down?'
No, it doesn't. That's a free trial period to get you hooked and subscribing. If you sign up it's done it's job and nothing more.
'Plus didn't they give us something back for the Christmas mess up?'
Yes, you are correct. The game Undertow was available for free download for a few weeks.
I'm going to trust my own judgement. I will be picking this up on release and playing the hell out of it.
It's proximity chat and when it appears on a 360 exclusive it will be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
It would be nice if the author of the article actually educated us on the identity of R:FoM and where that is lacking in R2.
I mean something beyond the only game worth owning...
I'm in the beta and competitive is basically what you're used to playing in an online FPS, and by the way, that's a good thing, a very good thing. Co-op is such a blast to play with seven other players, and it does encourage working as a team. Then there's the campaign mode which I hav...
If you don't own a PS3.
If Kotaku had contact with Sony prior to publishing the story, then I'm sure there was some validation, however slight that may have been.
To then paste rumor all over the article seems like a lame attempt to skirt Sony's wishes while being able to claim it wasn't released as 'real news'.
It's identical to behavior on this site. There is a profanity filter for a reason, but we all circumvent it with misspellings, because we get this selfish satisfaction of being able to...
A pre-order fom GameStop comes with a code to activate Time Trial in the demo and that is a blast to play.
I played the demo and thought it was fun. In a couple of those shots, the 360 lost some cityscape details in some overbright sky areas, but otherwise, and especially from a practical perspective, they are identical.
'I mean what gears 1 sold in 1 week took almost 6 months for R1.'
Resistance 1 was a launch title. When was the 360 released? When was Gears 1 released? What were the install base differences? Perhaps these factors may have affected early sales?
Gears 1 has outsold Resistance 1 lifetime. I wonder based on install base what the sales percentages of both games are.
I personally will be enjoying both of these games next week.
The beta has been extended.
Damn right. Co-op in the beta rocks!
'online and offline will offer 2 totally different expierences.'
Aren't the campaign and multiplayer modes supposed to give you different experiences? Is the Halo 3 campaign the same experience as the multiplayer? No. Same goes for Gears, Resistance, CoD4, etc.
Sweet, another 4 days with the beta!
To everyone that deleted the beta:
Can't you just go into your download history and download it again? I was screwing around one day looking to re-download a demo I deleted. I saw the LBP beta listed, clicked on it and it looked like it was going to attempt to re-download it. Of course, since the beta was dead, I didn't allow it, but you may want to try it.
Fortunately in NA, we've only got a few days to wait for release. Can't wait for the Collector's Edition with the Chimera figurine.
Dark, it's a little different with a car. Software drives hardware sales and there are enough good 360 exclusives to justify wanting to own one.
Imagine if you traded that faulty car in and the replacement brand you purchased couldn't be driven to closer than within 50 miles of your home or employment, and the faulty brand was the only one that could. Now you look at that faulty brand again, through different eyes.
My 360 died recently, after about 23 months of...
