I think it is a matter of "complementing" their licenses. They want the money from both and a movie that doesn't bring in the $$ might still make a good game that brings in the $$.

You look at this example in the article and, as the author points out, Batman Dark Asylum (which is looking pretty cool) would complement the films, even if not based on them. You could potentially have games coincide with movies or do an every other year thing like Activision does with Cal...

Do you think that releasing Underworld (which was released late here in OZ) with all the other AAA titles this Oct-Dec period made the Tomb Raider game less attractive, or is the whole adventure platforming genre in trouble next to shooters?

U R Kidding. Will the Wii rubbish ever end? Shows that the Wii Sex drama posted on youtube (and here) isn't that crazy after all...Pretty soon we will be Wiing with everything in life.

Well they have nice artists....now what will the game look like!!!
Looking forward to the fight in Europe! Should be lots of cool environments they can use. I just hope they do the game justice on PSP.

Man I wish there were two sticks on the PSP.

I hope this turns out to be a good game: the PSP really does need more software!!! I was only looking forward to Resistance Retribution until this.

I wonder about the connectivity though...it depends on downloadable games, and the internet services of the less affluent countries as this console seems to be targeting aren't the best I don't think?...

Yeah well later levels you have to stop to jump onto platforms during the speed sections too...doesn't make sense. Also there are more and more ways to fall and die, which really ends the whole speed and fun thing.

Some great ideas, but some really really bad ones too. If they can learn from this one they could get it right...it's heading slowly in the right direction anyway.

The above quote is all too true. Looks amazing but it is frustrating and the camera and the platforming really suck! Love the towns though and don't mind the minor RPG elements.

Maybe the next Sonic should be an RPG with fast bits in between? Get rid of the platforming altogether?

I'm hoping you solve crimes without the very slow pace and lack of movement of CSI. Sort of like the Condemned bit with forensic stuff.

The screenies for Continental Hotel are really nice, and the vid for Crime Scene looks like it could be fun...if it's a bit more than the CSI game was.

Not much on display yet, so we'll probably have to wait until some game show to see more about them.

I am SOOOOOO with you mate. Look at the sheer number of games set in the US, or even how about New York alone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

So over US locations.

I second this opinion;

"MS have succeeded even though they shot themselves in the foot with the RROD issues. "

There is no doubt that the 360 has been a success and I believe will continue to be so until the next gen. Sony is struggling to get to the 'definitely a success' level but it is a great machine and in the coming year and with a price cut will probably also fall into the definitely a success category.

You can have 3 success stories ...

I think games would last longer with gamers if they had split-screen as well. Online only some big or latest games get played, whereas split-screen you can play anytime.

Your list above does show that some good games keep it, but I've only seen bots in Gears 2 and Perfect Dark. Bots really flesh out a split-screen game.

Racers you would think would at least have 2 player split standard, but with great games like PURE abandoning it I do believe split screen is in ...

A JB manager that I know says that it has been flying off the shelves, so it must be doing something right. It's just a niche MS hadn't tapped before and should have.

As the Wii shows, not all games have to be 'traditional' to make an impact.

I can see a lot of my family and friends wanting a go at this, but I don't think I'd like to reveal just how badly I sing....

Yeah I'm not sure if an XBLA title will ever be classed as a GOTY, even if it is innovative and fun. They are just seen as 'low budget games'. Not too many indie films win the Oscars either.

At the moment it is true. You can't really argue that too much unless you really like Blu Ray. It doesn't mean that the PS3 isn't great, I have one myself, but when talking what you get for your cash $$ MS is on top. (As long as it doesn't red ring of death on you).

Surprised also to see Dead Space, a game which apparently didn't sell well....but did review well.

WTF Burnout Paradise that high?

Mostly as expected. I think Far Cry 2 would have won for sure with bots and split screen :)

I certainly don't think it was that cut and dry this year. For PS3 it was an easy one for me: MGS4 (despite its faults), but not so for the 360. There were several that could have won.

Yeah they snuck this title in right before Christmas! Man what a bad time to release!

Judging by the score...they could have waited and improved some things.
