Yeah games are looking a lot more gory but is it because graphics have advanced so far? Are some using it as a cheap gimmick too? Solider of Fortune used to be known for using it as a gimmick, but its last game was just funny...almost cartoony compared to those listed in the article.

The two games I'm most wanting to live up to potential this 2009 are Alan Wake and Heavy Rain. It is indeed a shame they are both exclusives so that only those with both consoles (or a PC) can enjoy them. I'm very lucky to have both, so luckily I'm happy to support both.

That's actually a good point: I have a PS3 and I think they need to cut their price. It doesn't make much sense, except I think the idea is that people who do have a PS3 want it to do well, and to do that it needs to sell more...meaning a price cut.
I mostly play on my 360 so that makes it even stranger that I want a price cut you'd think: except I want BOTH consoles to succeed so there's good competition.
LOL. I've been called an Xbot more than a Sony Fanboy because of my support of the 360 (which I still use more for gaming than my PS3). Now I've been accused of being both! LOL.
I just think the PS3 is too expensive and that's all that's holding it back. I also don't want to see it fail. I love it for the blu ray and the exclusives, but otherwise I play more on my 360.
I even like some stuff on my Wii, but just can't believe how popular it is with barely any dece...
The PS3 will survive. It may be struggling but once they get the price down and some of those juicy exclusives out next year, it'll be fine and then hopefully we'll stop with the 360 and PS3 are gonna die! stuff.
By the end of this gen I still think both will be standing and making another console.

The problem is they are all split up now...some having gone to become a new studio and some just let go and some still there....
I would have liked to have seen a sequel to see what they could do different in the fps genre. Lots of explosions presumably?

As long as a good studio makes Timesplitters 4, keeping in tune with the humour and pace and bots of the others, I'll be happy.

So what will you say if it doesn't get released in the US in 2009? We really don't know what will happen and there's no guarantee it will be out this year, even if he said it will (he says whatever whenever it seems).
I think it will, or fans should get angry. But he may adopt the famous: "when I think it's done it's done" phrase and release it later. And maybe release another 'demo' to sell. The game will still sell, so what's his worry?

Ouch that isn't a good loss when you add it up. However, it should get cheaper for them to produce soon, but then will a price cut ruin that gain? If so, will they price cut?
Well I have to admit that when I see a Wii game I do groan at the 'basic' graphics. Graphics are important to me. So far though I'm yet to be convinced that the PS3 will really shoot ahead.
Time may prove me wrong, but for now only Uncharted and MGS4 have any 'wow' claim for me. OF GAMES ACTUALLY RELEASED.
I was all excited about Killzone 1 too...and it was overhyped average shooter material. I'll wait until I play the game before I decide if it is the best thing since sliced bread. Videos aren't going to do it for me this time.
Heavy Rain does look great though...I just hope it plays great too.
I'm not sure the Wii is even still considered as a gamers platform, so really it isn't in competition with the 360 or PS3.
I don't think too many studios will debase the 360 and PS3 to the 'casual only' level and we'll still see top titles for gamers that may also now be a bit more accessible for 'emerging gamers' released.
The Wii audience is different.
Amazingly most of them still seem to apply.
Wii is still doing well with shovelware.
The battle against pirates continues.
GI Joe shooters are still the norm.
Split-screen is still being ignored (well except for Gears and Resistance and COD: WAW)
Faceplates are still not really being used
Internet still sucks in Australia
Live is still probably not as good value in OZ as it is in US.
