This sort of thing happened to me in Gears of War 1 and turned me right off it. I'm never going to be as good as or as coordinated as the gamers who play all the time and are naturals. I don't memorise maps or get all anal about who wins. I use gaming as an escape and only get to do it in between other things in life.
Sigh...that's why I miss games like Timesplitters....screw working together like finely-tuned well-trained squads and just go and have fun!
Lol....Gates is so easy to recognise...it sure would be good to be able to do that in game.
I'm still waiting for a block of time to play this game...have it sitting waiting. I loved Oblivion and the fact each city was so different in medieval style.
Those who loved the game will probably get the DLC but these days people seem to move on faster.
I played the demo and it had great lighting effects, but was standard shooter fare as far as design and the level's environments. It's good, but not beyond criticism from what I played.

Sometimes it's fun to just wander around aimlessly and explore if the environment is rich enough. I remember with Driv3r (yes everyone is shuddering right now) the only thing I liked was the freeroaming mode where I could do jumps and explore Nice (which was pretty accurately modelled by the way) and Istanbul and film all the police chases, etc. That WAS fun. The actual game wasn't.

Actually I find Edge has some pretty good reviews and points generally. Not sure if I'll agree or not as I haven't played the whole game, but it does seem to lack imagination. I think a top game should excel in both its craft and in its scope of gameplay. Killzone 2 appears to be a by the numbers shooter that is well done and looks great. Something like Bioshock was well crafted and did something new.

Especially when you consider how it is a waste of resources to make a tacked-on multi which will not even be played online when the Next Big Thing comes to multi online gaming....
Seriously, MOH Airborne's multi might still be played if it had offline split screen or system link (especially with bots), but it was a waste to make the online only multi wasn't it? They could have worked harder on the single player AI.
On one hand you get the great set-pieces and story-telling in more linear corridor shooters, but on the other the freedom you can get in sandbox games makes it so you can make up your own fun!

I'm all for getting the non-gamers gaming using Wii so that gaming isn't seen as the nerd-only past-time it used to be and sometimes still is, but really it isn't what I want to play.
It is somewhat our own fault for not supporting EA's new IPs like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge and just buying Killzones and Gears of Wars all the time.
I totally understand why ALL publishers wouldn't want to go exclusive anymore, like with Mass Effect 2: they simply make more mone...
I think Halo 3 was overhyped as much as Killzone 2. Does that mean they are bad games? No. Just overhyped because they are exclusives that carry the weight of expectation for each console.
I don't care if Killzone 2 isn't perfect (and it won't be anything that new for sure). I just care if it is fun. Personally I'm looking forward to Alan Wake and Heavy Rain much much more because they might bring something new.
So let's say this remake is a goodie...what other remakes would you like to see??

I think it is more about action movie chase scenes and less about racing...not really a comparison. I think the action feel will be fun and different to the racing sims and street racers out there. And different from all the shooters!!!
I hope that Assault on Dark Athena has a lot more new about it than old, or the nostalgia of the Chronicles of Riddick game on Xbox may be diminished.
I think they'll both be good if people give them a chance.
