Yes, who can possibly be upset by Sony secretly recording every second that you played on PS4?! All you had to do to see your game statistics was to opt into third party marketing emails - nothing to be concerned with, right? Do you really think that invasion of privacy is just limited to Alexa and Google? What would you say to all those Sony fanboys who attacked Kinect for listening to gamers all of the time?
It is amusing that every time that I have criticized Nintend...
Nothing like being reminded that Sony has been secretly recording every single second of your time on PS4. At least this is a step in the right direction by both being open about it and allowing gamers to have access to it the same way that Nintendo and Microsoft does. Of course, once again PS4 owners are left in the dark with this update and access to the information.
After all the flak Microsoft caught with the idea of Kinect spying on gamers, it was embarrassing to see...
$160 for a basic XBox One controller releasing after the launch of next gen. Idiots.
Nice to see the fanboy wars have extended to where/how a writer from Kotaku places their PS5. Clearly the reason that the PS5 is upside down is that he hates Sony and not because he wanted to test out the long-term effect of having it upside down like he stated in the article. His hatred for the PS5 is further evidenced by putting it closer to the TV where it is more accessible and not placing it on the lower shelf that is closer to the floor and all its dust.
My god the ...
@Zeeb
How exactly is Phil Spencer saying "I’m not sure that those are the next big set of users for us" equate to talking crap about PlayStation? Did you even read the article or did you just skip ahead straight to making a stupid fanboy comment?
Microsoft just updated the XBox's UI this year, as well as having previously made major updates in 2017 and 2015. Sony hasn't updated the PS4 at all in 7 years so I am sure they had plenty of time to work on the PS5 UI. Meanwhile, PS4 users are still stuck with the old UI with its faults and will never see them fixed.
It does say something when fanboys like you are getting so worked up over the UI ahead of console launches. I'm sure that if Sony had kept the s...
So you write all that in defense of you saying that MS hasn't been "trying too hard" with their UI. According to you, you have been playing on XBox and know full well all the work that Microsoft has been putting into the UI for the last 7 years and just chose to say that they haven't been "trying too hard" with their UI just because??? Could you be any more of a fanboy?
"so, just because I don't have an xbone myself (not interested), there is no possible way for me to witness the UI with my own eyes?"
Apparently yes because you posted that Microsoft hasn't been doing anything with their UI and they are not trying to improve it. You literally posted that MS "doesn't look like they are trying too hard" and then get upset when people point out that they have constantly been improving the XBox's UI. Commen...
Except that badz149, and now you, are trying to say that the PS4 UI is perfect - which it isn't - and claiming that it is perfect while abandoning it for the PS5 UI. People cannot say how great the PS5 improvements are and act like the PS4 couldn't of had those improvements or that it is ok that it will never have them even though PS4s will continue to be made and sold after the launch of the PS5.
I personally don't like XBox's UI but I can at least admit i...
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it, right? But doesn't mean you can't always try to make it better."
Spoken by someone who doesn't have an XBox One. I hardly ever use mine but almost every time I do something has changed with the UI. If you want to criticize someone for not trying to make their UI better, then that would go to Sony and the PS4 UI. Since launch, the only meaningful change has been the ability to limit how many games are shown ...
You can no longer create public party chats. All chats are automatically private and you have to add someone to the group before they can join chat. The old system was fine the way it was since if you wanted you could choose if the chat was private or public.
@Loktai
So playing old games is only acceptable if you pretty them up and charge $70 to play them again like with the PS5's Demon Souls?
And? Level 100 was also unachievable for any normal human being yet Sony had to go and change the system. Now the whole thing just looks stupid unless you are one of those who are excited about going from level 273 to 274.
@Deathdeliverer
Dishonored was neither their last OR only new IP in the last 10 years. It is amusing to see you try to spin your way out of ignorance but instead you just reinforced it. Trying to downplay what a company produces is just pathetic fanboyism. Don't like 4 new franchises in the last 10 years? Which other 3rd party publisher do you think has done a better job? The only one that beats it is Ubisoft and everybody makes fun of the fact that almost all Ubis...
"Dishonored was their last and possibly ONLY new ip in probably 10 years."
That is a pretty bold statement since it only displays ignorance -
New Zenimax IPs in the past 10 years -
Rage
Dishonored
The Evil Within
Prey
I already miss everyone that came before Jim Ryan to lead Sony. This guy is such a corporate stooge that says the most cringe-worthy crap.
backwards compatibility - "Why would anyone play this?"
consoles that are not top of the line - "One thing that can be said is that if you look at the history of the game business, creating a special low priced, reduced spec console is something that has not had great results in the past." - except that th...
I'm still waiting for all those custom panels for my original PS4. "World of possibilities" my ass. I swear the crap people hype up before a new generation launches is ridiculous.
So some ugly new icons and a complete unnecessary new numbering system - "Greatness Awaits" indeed.
The current system is fine the way it is. I'm sure that some out there are eagerly awaiting to progress from level 341 to 342 because having 1,000 levels really makes their presence impactful. /s
"Players will progress quicker through the early levels" - that literally defeats the whole point of "levels." Why not have eve...
I would say that I'd grab some popcorn to watch the fanboys defend this but now all I can think about is if the XBox Series X is hot enough to make popcorn.
I'm really not sure they understand how time/aging works. Going from a teenager at the launch of Xbox to a dad with greying hair at the launch of Series X is ridiculous. It makes it look like XBox gamers/Walmart shoppers suffer from high stress leading to premature greying of the hair (which actually might be a thing now that I think of it).
