It seems that not only are you putting video game sales into some sort of magical bubble where inflation doesn't affect them but you are also completely ignoring the ballooning of studio size. Games definitely cost more to make now than they did 10 years ago and that is especially true when moving between console generations where entirely new game engines need to be developed. Uncharted 2 cost $20 million to make and that was when Naughty Dog didn't have a studio of almost 500 empl...
No, it isn't coming out this year and it doesn't need to come out this year. The Switch has been selling really well all year and that isn't going to stop during the holidays, regardless of what else is released.
"Not all products are subject to inflation"
Except here there is a clear case of inflation in relation to the amount of man-hours needed to make a video game. Super Mario Bros took 8 people to make - can you imagine any AAA game today being made with just 8 people? Media Molecule has 50 people and it took them 7 years to make Dreams - time that was funded by the Uncharteds, God of Wars, and other Sony games being made by studios with hundreds of employees.

PS3 and PS4 cases are the exact same size. Only difference was the PS3 cases had slightly rounder corners and 1/2" of empty plastic at the top of the case.
@BlackIceJoe
"I don't see Blu-Ray movies increasing in price" Have you actually looked at the prices for 4k Blu-ray movies compared to Blu-ray? How about the fact that Blu-ray movies cost more than DVDs?
Gamers have already spoken with their wallets and have shown that cost plays very little in the decision to buy a new game. Almost every new retail game in the last 12 months that cost less than $60 (due to lower production values and les...
What the hell does Phil Spencer have to do with any of this? You think that him congratulating Naughty Dog is part of some big passive-aggressive conspiracy?
How about when Phil congratulated -

"The Last of Us 2 should be a post-apocalyptic Pony Express meets Oregon Trail" - so basically Death Stranding. Nice.
@-Foxtrot
Only you could attempt to turn a factual statement into a point in your campaign of hate.
"“Unfortunately this is now the cost of making popular entertainment that challenges conventions”
It’s not about you Neil it’s about Laura."
Why the hell do you think Laura is being attacked if it isn't because she was part of making a piece of "popular entertainment that challenges conventions?" Do you think thi...
You haven't played the game yourself but instead are just another pathetic fanboy jumping in to hate. "Art has been generating discussions for centuries" and for centuries people have rightly mocked those who comment on things they have no experience in.
I should of been clearer and said no company reps should ever have contact with game reviewers over the content of the review. Sony contacting Vice over what was written in the review is completely unethical, just like when they sent out the guide to reviewers on how to play Lair after the game received poor scores. Obviously, this isn't a pattern of behavior since there are 13 years between incidents but I think gamers need to call out this bad behavior whenever it happens.
FFS, that was stupid to do. It is like Lair all over again. No company reps should ever have contact with game reviewers, regardless of the review.
None of the abandoned buildings had outside electricity running to them though. There was either a generator which you started or, in the case of the workbenches, the light was hooked up to a battery. Also, I don't think you understand how crumbling buildings work if you are surprised by the good condition of the well-maintained WLF headquarters.
@Lore (and everyone else trying to make this point)
"there is little chance that somebody living in an apocalypse without access to extensive calories and a strict food regimen." It's called agriculture. Look it up.
Seriously, The Last of Us took place 20 years after Outbreak Day and some idiots actually think people are just surviving on scavenged Twinkies.
Yes, because wearing a separate headset that permanently displays the minimap regardless of where you look is so much more convenient than having it to look at the TV. /s
Japan isn't censoring violence, they are censoring bare skin. You do know that it is illegal to show genitalia in Japan, don't you? They have created all the weird fetishes like bukkake and hentai to get off on since actual pictures of a human crotch might offend their delicate sensibilities.
Joel doomed the entire human race to never having a cure for the virus and the Scars are waging a holy war. Repeatedly throwing around "genocide" when you have missed the entire point of the game just makes you look foolish.
I'm sorry but those are not the decisions I am talking about. Every videogame is based around decisions - it is why we have a controller in our hands. Do you go left or do you go right? Do you press A or B? It is how you make these decisions that define the experience of the game. Is your game over with an "add another quarter to continue" or are you the top scorer? Do you find the combat in Dark Souls challenging or are you completing it with a Guitar Hero guitar just to ...
@ ilikestuff
Well at least right there you demonstrated that you haven't played the game. Also shown that common sense isn't that important to you since The Last of Us takes place 20 years after Outbreak Day and you still think that people are only "surviving on what you can find to eat."
It is 2020 and from Nintendo we are still getting the "please understand" excuse.
@Sophisticated_Chap
I like how you have said that the number of deaths has been massively overstated AND that countries have under-reported their Covid-19 cases in the same thread. People really need to appreciate that special kind of intellectual dishonesty of those who say whatever they think will help them win an argument.
What I want to know is how exactly does this mask situation involve global "tirany" (really, get a dictionary) and why h...
