The exclusive license actually only covers third party development. Technically, a studio such as Sony San Diego could develop their own NFL game and release it exclusively on Sony platforms. However, naturally the NFL would still have to agree to the development of the game and they would charge an exorbitant price, IF they even go along with a first party game to begin with. The truth is that the NFL pursued EA, not the other way around, because they felt it was better for the league brand ...

We believed you until you mentioned that you purchased the Xbox One.

I do love the PS3 and how it grew over its lifespan but there's no way of getting around the fact that it resulted in a loss of billions for several years for Sony. Those losses led them to think outside the box and come up wth a much better product with the PS4. However, I really think when you look at pricing and even marketing Sony has positioned the PS4 more like they had with the more successful PS2, and not the PS3.

But they also released Oblivion at the beginning of the last gen. Skyrim took a little longer when they had to build a new engine (which they may or may not need to do this time). I agree with you that Fallout is more likely, but I wouldn't be surprised by a new Elder Scrolls either.

That's my issue with it. The price itself isn't bad IMO. Just expand the dang library.

Even if you could buy these games for $5 (you can't for many of them), if you traded in or otherwise do not own a PS3 you still can't play them on PS4. This service allows you to play all of the games as much as you want for as low as $15 a month. That's not bad. It's not what I would call a great deal either, but it is certainly fair.

I agree it won't have a huge impact on potential sales. However, my younger sister for example will not be able to play it because her dad does not purchase M rated games. She was disappointed to hear this news.

Obviously, the sister of some random guy on n4g is not a representative sample. It's just anecdotal evidence that there are in fact a portion of buyers who take the rating into account.

They did release a new twisted metal on PS3 though... It didn't sell too well unfortunately.

...you do realize that the Z3 has been on Verizon for a while now right? It's called the Z3v and comes with wireless charging. It's even been in a few Verizon Christmas ads.

Sprint customers aren't worth going after, and any AT&T customer who wants a Z3 can purchase the unlocked version. They aren't really that bad in US carrier support anymore. The phones are very good, I own one. But they just don't stand out in the North American market

Also, they still have an all carte purchase model in place so you can choose what you want to play without paying the full service amount.

Yes but most consumers do not want to be forced to pay $180 more just for backwards compatibility. Some of us just want the PS4 For new games. Sony did right. They are giving you the choice.

So we are to believe that someone who pre-ordered the game (implying you are not patient enough to purchase after release) would have waited an entire year to get the DLC version? Right...

The game is functional enough, and has been for a month. That is true. But it is STILL broken, and is not nearly as ambitious as it was supposed to be. Playlist options are awful, fair level matches are hit and miss, and it still takes a bit too long and/or randomly errors you out of sessions frequently. You somehow feel the need to defend 343, but why? They had a disastrous launch that continues to be a disaster for the simple reason that the game as yet to be what they initially billed it t...

With Walmart selling the PS4 for $329, this is all working out well for gamers!

I would just point out that the PS3/360 Era was unusually long due to the fact that both systems were way ahead of their time, and price (thus they needed more time to recoup costs), and developers took a while to tap into their real potential. Not to mention a severe recession hit, and the whole pursuit of the casual gimmick market with Move and Kinect. Most generations do not last eight years without a successor. The traditional gap is 4-6 years, which I see this gen as about right on sched...

Once Destiny was released without split screen I saw the writing on the wall for the feature. If Bungie doesn't do it, I figure nobody really will. Shame.

4195d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Eh, perhaps it's a contributing factor but it wouldn't explain why the feature had been on the decline since the last generation. Besides call of duty and Halo did any franchise even have local split screen?

I suspect the developers feel that it's not worth the effort and graphical cutbacks because with online they believe they can increase sales forcing you and your friend to buy the game. I think this is a huge mistake. I can't tell you how many games I bou...

It's not fixed. I own it and it's gotten better but it's not fixed.

I agree people care too much. But it isn't meaningless. The system with the largest install base almost always get preferential treatment by developers, and in Sonys case the entire future of the company is largely dependent on it. The current generation is unique in that MS has been willing to spend hundreds of millions to keep developers mostly neutral, but larger sales gaps make that more expensive to accomplish and thus less attractive for MS shareholders.

So yes sal...

Actually I told them to price match a PS4 bundle recently and instead of refunding me $20 they charged me $20. Then I contacted them to have it reversed, which they did, but they still never lowered the price. So I had to contact them a third time. Obviously nobody cares about my story but I'm just saying I haven't personally experienced stellar customer service from amazon.
