There's so much momentum behind the Playstation brand at this stage it would be hard for Sony to not do well. The mistakes and trials Sony faced at the beginning of the PS3's life are highly unlikely to repeat themselves, which could see Playstation return to a majorly dominant platform.
Not to count MS out but they've yet to give us any reason to believe they've shifted focus back to gaming and rumours surrounding Xbox 3 are mostly awful. Let's hope t...
Yet more evidence that MS are focusing xbox on becoming some kind of media hub rather than a games console, it's getting really hard to ignore the signs now.
For the record, I think it's fine that a console has media or social features but the main priority should be gaming. Sony have come outright and said the gamer will be the main focus, now I want MS to do the same or they risk losing ALL their core fanbase.
I'm going to have to agree, graphics, although not the most important factor in a game, still have a certain weight when trying to part a gamer with his cash.
There are gamers, like myself, who have been playing since before the NES and we've watched the technological advancements in graphics through the generations and constantly look for the next leap. For people like us graphics are a major talking point, something we will share when we're impressed, this al...
Not only is it possible (see link in my comment above), it makes financial sense what with the installed base of both next gen consoles likely to be relatively small initially.
You seem almost terrified of this happening, the only reason I can think of for that is that you are a fanatical Xbox guy, am I right? In which case, screw your fanboyism I think all gamers should be able to enjoy this franchise!
Rein: Epic “owns” Gears IP, “can do what we want with it”

@below :) yup it's entirely possible to bring the whole series to Playstation or even Wii U if they wish.
Using Apple as an example here, they weren't the first to make a smartphone or most of the other things they are hailed as innovators for but they did make the (one of the) first user friendly smartphones. They brought everything together in a unique/innovative way and made it convenient to use.
"For convenience sake, I parked my car in reverse so when I get up in the morning I don't have to back out of my carport into traffic."
This is...
It would be a megaton x9000 if they finally bring the series to the Playstation platform, can't wait for E3.
Wonder what Gears would look like on PS4? GeOW1 was the first game that felt 'next-gen' (this gen) for me, can Epic step up and create that feeling again?
@disagrees Are you saying Gears 1 didn't feel next gen or that it wouldn't be a big deal if it went multi-plat?
I've said in an earlier comment that I believe making something more of a convenience can in itself be an innovation. In this respect Sony have gone from being slightly behind with PS3 to way ahead of the curve with PS4.
Funny how these bloggers like to say "I am not completely biased" before saying something completely biased.
Newsflash, you are NOT excused.
I hope this is true, we could be playing in April :D
I just hope they don't rush the hardware along to make the dealine, no need to say why.
If the rumour about MS blocking used games isn't true then why don't they just come out and say it?
Yup, 1up are definitely a few peices short of their jigsaw puzzle and they're claiming it looks nothing like what's on the front of the box.
The PS4 has certainly set a high standard as far as ease of development and gamer focus go.
Nobody seems to have any idea how MS will answer the social features, the high standard of graphics, exclusive new IPs and general specs of PS4. In my opinion, selling it as a cable box just won't cut it, especially outside of the US.
What? I didn't even say that, no need for the personal attack.
"your harddrive only lasts so long , you think they are gonna give you a replacement of the 400$ you spent on DLC and Digital downloads in 2020 when your console breaks?"
Yes.
As far as PSN goes you can re-download any content you have paid for at any time, just like steam.
Lost love? Sony has been supplying me with quality games for more than 15 years, the love never left.
Seriously, what are MS waiting for?
It's like they want PS4 to have all the attention and pre-orders to itself.
I hope they are compatible, that would be awesome.
I'll bear some of these in mind when I finally get hold of a PS4.
Yeah of course, like I said I have no problem with a console manufacturer delving into new territories to expand media features on their platform. The issue lies in whether or not this is taking the spotlight over creating core gaming IP's and putting the needs of the core gamer first, something which MS has yet to put my mind at rest over.
Anyway, what makes me think Microsoft will abandon gaming? I don't think that they're abandoning gaming just that their f...
