I should write a response article... "Why I don't need armchair journalists to tell me what games I do and do not want to buy."
1. I'm a grown man who has probably been playing games longer than the author has been alive.
2. I don't give a flying rat's ass about Call of Duty.
3. I hate list articles.
4. I hate irony even more.
5. ... this website isn't even working.
I can't believe there was ever any doubt about it. Even Gran Turismo 5, the most technically demanding game of this generation to attempt to hit the 1080p native resolution, still had to settle for 1280x1080 instead of 1920x1080 (I may be a bit off on exact pixel count, my memory isn't the best.). Wipeout HD even had to use dynamic resolution, dropping down to lower native resolutions when the action got too intense for 1080p. Who in their right mind thinks these current gen consoles ...
I guess Cam has never heard of satire. Honestly I think we need more of that in gaming news. So much of what goes on in this industry is worthy of a little mockery, and more importantly many of the people around here seem like they could use a good laugh.
Carmack is a FPS developer, of course he'll have those types of comments to make when referring to Kinect. Even the new Kinect is not going to be as good as a Move for a FPS game, because of the fact that Move emulates a gun with it's shape and it's trigger. It is just better built for that genre. It doesn't mean there aren't any cool games that can be done with Kinect. It just means that a FPS developer is not that interested in the tech because there are better options o...
Carmack didn't say the two were neck and neck performance wise. He even acknowledged the performance differences in memory and the GPU. His comments were based on the fact that both systems essentially use the same CPU, and both are AMD based GPUs based on the same architecture. Then fanboys like you took that and ran with it, as if he had said the two were the same performance-wise. In fact, he even went on to admit he hadn't done any performance tests on either system.
@ Xmarksdaspot, how do you know you aren't talking to engineers? You don't. You also don't know what you are talking about, which is why you are having to resort to ad hominem attacks on the source of this information, since you don't know enough about the actual information to be able to debate it.
If you're concerned, it means you want Naughty Dog to have to wait another 2 years to develop new tech and new tools from the ground up, then another 2-3 years to actually develop the game. By using existing engines and just augmenting new abilities into it, they can get us a good game much faster. Don't worry, they will hack the current build apart and put in new code to make it take advantage of the new capabilities of the PS4. This is Naughty Dog we're talking about here, the d...
Major Nelson: Why I'm Excited About Online Gaming With Xbox One
"Because I work for Microsoft, it's kinda my job to be."
Edit: ^ Great minds think alike.
All joking aside, online gaming has always been a strong point for Xbox, it's to be expected that they deliver a solid experience.
It's pretty laggy when you look at their demo videos. 150-200ms delay, and you can see it when lights move. The illumination on the room around them lags behind them a bit. Just goes to show how our infrastructure just isn't quite ready for this type of tech.
An interesting peek into the future though.
They need to keep at it. At this point, XB1 is a mandatory kinect away from me considering it an eventual purchase (well, that and some decent games that actually appeal to me). From a hardware point alone, that's all that's holding me back. I refuse to have a spy cam in my home from a company known to freely give away info to the US government (or to snoop on that info themselves, remember the Skype controversy?). If they drop Kinect's requirement, and drop it's price, it'...
See PS3's early sales for the answer to your post. It crawled out of the gate until it's cost dropped below $400, then it started outselling the 360.
The PS3 clearly showed that by consistently outselling the Xbox 360? As in, releasing a year later at $200 more, and still putting it in third place before the generation was over with? Yeah... Keep dreaming.
Also, you can't say there isn't a CLEAR power advantage basing your judgments on launch titles. That'd be like saying there are no better looking games on PS3 than on 360 basing your judgment on Resistance: Fall of Man, ignoring Beyond: Two Souls, Uncharted,...
The game is likely far too early in development for Capcom to be able to present it to companies that may be interested in exclusivity/making it go multiplatform. As of now, PS4 is the lead platform, and if Capcom can show Sony a good enough looking game as it progresses, Sony might just cut that check to make it exclusive. However, I doubt it's at a point where either Sony or MS would be willing to pay for it yet. So, time will tell. I damn sure wouldn't pay millions of dollars for a...
Fanboys posting numbers again... numbers that omit obvious facts that effect sales, such as bundles or online giveaways (drive club is free on +...).
@Slasher, at no point did they say it wasn't an exclusive. Only that they couldn't confirm if it was or not. In other words, the negotiations are ongoing. They probably have to get the game farther along in development before they'll have enough to show Sony, MS, etc. to see if they are willing to pay up whatever amount they want for exclusivity/multiplatform. They also likely are paying close attention to pre-orders for both consoles.
Good. One less bubble for your trolling.
@Corpser
Neither went into detail for one reason. 3 letters. NDA.
Developers have to sign non-disclosure agreements that prevent them from discussing exact details of the console hardware they are working on. They can get into a lot of trouble if they violate this agreement.
That said, the RCR dev that posted that op-ed about PS4's RAM did take the step of saying "Even if the 3.5GB's reserved for the OS were true" when refer...
That depends. I know gaming was held back a bit by PS3's OS not supporting cross game chat. Having to use text messages to set up games was a real pain in the ass.
It probably won't be all that long before Microsoft shuts Xbox Live off for 360 like they did for the original Xbox not long after 360 released anyway.
Seriosuly people, enough with the "Why" articles. You are not any more qualified to tell people what they should or shouldn't like than anyone else. These articles are so generic, it's tiring seeing them all the time. 50% of N4G articles these days are "5 reasons why this doesn't suck." "Why you should buy this." etc.
These articles treat the reader as if they are not able to make informed decisions on their own, and treat the author ...
