They admitted it, and now that it has backfired they are backtracking.
They dumbed it down on PS4 so that some Xbox One fans would not see it as a "rushed and inferior" product since some of them refuse to believe that anything below 1080p on Xbox One could possibly be due to hardware limitations...
They wanted to keep those sales. Nothing else.
They did it for one reason... SALES. They admit that they did it to avoid discussion about parity, not for technical reasons. They don't want Xbox One owners skipping the game because it was judged to be inferior, and they still believe it wasn't due to hardware limitations but due to lazy developers.
only a few $500 projectors, a ceiling mounting bracket system, a few $150 kinect sensors, and an Xbox One required!
And people thought Morpheus would be expensive...
No reason to be excited about new features being added to our system... right? I mean, who needs themes, MP3 and video playback, folders, etc. anyway?
If the Xbox rendering at 720p is true, there will be noticeable differences on a real Xbox One hooked up to a TV vs. a real PS4 hooked up to a TV... not a super compressed comparison that many people probably aren't even watching on 1080p screens.
720p is less than half the res of 1080p, and we saw what the difference looked like in COD: Ghosts.
You're not going to tell how good they actually look running on a direct feed by looking at a 1-2mbps video. It just isn't going to happen. Why these sites don't give direct downloads to higher quality videos, I don't know. Otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of comparing at all. At least with DF and the like, they give you statistical analysis with their highly compressed videos.
Not for long.
We're still early on in the generation too... In another few years, as developers work out more tricks and better engines, we'll see it pushed even farther.
He said PS5, not 4.
Project cars does look fantastic, however there are some aspects where Driveclub does certain things better. I like the lighting better in DC. The way the environment and cars are affected by subtle environmental effects, like the tracks being raced at dawn or dusk, the subtle way the deep blues and purples on the horizon change the color of the car, the street, DC just nails it. though there are other things that PC does better. Cars on the PC version have more polys, etc... So, it isn't...
lol, go away troll, you are beyond ridiculous. You claim you bought a game that you don't even like because of its framerate. GTFO
Someone's going to look stupid when DF analyzes this, and shows it clearly is not capped.
That is 4 more than times as many pixels per second being processed on PS4. double the frames and more than double the pixel resolution per frame.
You can only optimize a pool of memory so much. It isn't like the Cell where it required you to redo your entire approach to coding in order to break everything into many little tasks that the SPUs could handle. This is not much different than the 10mb EDRAM 360 has, just more of it and faster memory. Devs didn't struggle back then with 360, what makes you think they're struggling now? This is a hardware limitation. Get used to it.
^That is assuming ESRAM is complicated, but it isn't. It's just a little pool of RAM on-chip, just like the EDRAM in Xbox 360, only a little more of it. Devs didn't have problems with the EDRAM last gen, because the bandwidth of the main RAM was fast enough to keep the GPU happy for the most part. However, this time the opposite is true. The GPU is starved of data due to low DDR3 bandwidth, and there isn't enough ESRAM to fill that gap, so there is a wall you hit. No amount of...
Or, you could just accept that every game engine is unique and is crafted specifically to deliver exactly what the developer had in mind for their game, and that the hardware limitations of the Xbox One did not allow for them to realize that vision without having to make serious changes to the image quality and frame rate.
Not every game is the same, and not every game type and game engine is going to run as well on Xbox One as others.
You do realize that so many PS4 games look BETTER and yet so many uneducated Xbox One fans still make excuses to feel better... right?
First it was the cloud, but they dried up when it failed to rain. Then the secret sauce just wasn't spicy enough. Then DirectX 12, until even Spencer admitted it wasn't much of a change for Xbox, now they've moved on to flat out denial that power even matters.
I can hear your bubbles popping gamerfan...
No, resolution alone doesn't define the best console... but resolution plus framerate plus better AA plus no paywalls for anything but online play (and only on some games) plus more power for the same amount of money plus more and better exclusives does equal the best console, and the sales prove it.
No Man's Sky is PS exclusive first, PC later.
I usually notice them update around 6pm central US time.
