Actually, if you had read their latest financial reports, you would see that it is mobile that is hurting Sony the most right now. They lost 172 billion yen just because the mobile division they bought into is worth less money now than it was when they bought it.
While also ignoring the fact that every division they have is actually doing better than they were at this time last year, despite them still having operating income losses. Even their mobile division has better sales vs. last year, and that is the division that is losing them the most money right now.
They have the same architecture, with one a fair amount more powerful. Anywhere from 50% to 400% more powerful, depending on the spec you choose (50% more compute units, 400% more asynchronous compute elements, double the render output pipelines, etc)
You can downplay that as "a lot closer than you think" all you want, but the numbers (and games) do not lie.
You are correct, however, in saying that the vast majority of developers will not fully uti...
I like it, and never asked for any refunds. I still play it to this day... but a bunch of Xbox fans that have never even played the game cannot seem to wrap their heads around that concept.
I enjoy it, and it isn't defective anymore. It has been working great for a while now.
Skyrim was broken when it launched, on multiple platforms. Didn't stop it from becoming a classic.
Repetitive racing... Most races are repetitive in nature. You drive around a track for a set number of laps. What more do you expect?
Share play is an OS level function that utilizes the same streaming hardware used for twitch streams and remote play. It has nothing to do with the developer, other than their ability to switch it off.
Racist, mysoginistic, homophobic, pretty much every type of "ist" or "ic" word you could call them.
604,800 pixels per frame difference on PS4. That's 2/3 of a 720p frame worth of additional picture detail.
Cell isn't alone in their opinion. The general consensus has been so far Sony has the edge over Oculus. One example:
"In terms of which headset delivered crisper visuals, less lag and a more immersive experience, I feel Morpheus has the edge on Oculus - for now."

The XO cap was taken at a different time than the PS4 cap, the two were offset by a few seconds. Show me 2 side by side caps taken at the exact same moment, then we'll talk.
Live goes down all the time... yet if PSN goes down at all suddenly it's inferior. With the exception of Driveclub (which is the developer's fault, not PSN's), PSN has actually been performing quite well, all while integrating state of the art game streaming and sharing features never seen before on any console.
I won't say that PSN is flawless... They definitely need to step up their game when it comes to things like responding to DDoS attacks (which they ha...
Yes, Wipeout HD utilized it to hit 1080p on PS3 and still keep 60fps. It worked quite well in that case.
^gotta love when you provide references to back your claims and ignorant fanboys throw in the cowardly "nuh-uh!" disagree and then don't leave a comment to back their position, because they know they have no ground to stand on.
A massive chunk of Sony's losses came from the fact that the mobile division they bought into is now worth much less (to the tune of around 176 billion yen if I remember right). All of their divisions have experienced growth, however, despite them still showing an operating income loss. Part of the restructuring process. As long as their divisions still continue to improve, the profits will soon follow.
Look at this chart, and you'll see that other than that 172 billi...
@amiga You do realize Sony uses dedicated servers too, right? You do realize MS was using the term "dedicated server" as a marketing buzzword so people who don't know that much about the technology behind these games would think there was some sort of advantage there, right? You do know PS3 games use dedicated servers, right? Which is why you cannot play games like Socom and MAG anymore, their dedicated servers were taken offline to be dedicated to different games.
1. You may get a decentralized free online service, but you don't get free games every month. You also don't get features like share play.
2. We also get free DLC when we buy a game that is almost a year old... see The Last of Us. We also get exclusive DLC not found on other platoforms, as well as dozens of exclusive games per year that are among the best in the industry.
3. Even when you factor in paying the $50 per year, if you ignore the free games...
Sony just launched another PS2... This thing is a beast.
@gribble
would only be possible if using vita to remote-share-play to a PS4, but yes, it would be cool. Vita itself couldn't support the feature though, no video encoder chip.
720p is expected, that's the hardware limitation of the real time H.264 encoder chip built into PS4. Not a big deal really.
People realized it was a bunch of crap, so then they put the DX12 rumors in the air, that it would be the saving grace that would make up for a GPU that is 50-400% weaker depending on the spec you are looking at. Then they were forced to admit Dx12 was mostly a PC thing as far as tech advantages go, so now they're coming back with this to give desperate fanboys something else to cling to and hope for the future where all Xbox One games are on par with PS4 games.
