343, Dice, even Bethesda had issues that made Skyrim unplayable due to game breaking bugs when it launched, and it isn't even an online game. It's too common these days for games to launch broken. They have become so complex to make that it's difficult to put together a well-tested game in the time budget that is allowed to these studios when they embark on a multimillion dollar project. Publishers want the game out ASAP to start earning money and so they don't have to keep di...
"I am also not so stupid to think that Sony and Microsoft don't often work together in many parts of the media world."
Those Blu-Rays you love to watch on your PS3 and PS4 often use Microsoft's VC1 codec. Your PS3 can decode Windows Media Audio files (WMA). They collaborate all the time. Sony gets a fee for every Xbox's DVD capability via royalties from licensing. CD and Blu-Ray as well.
talk to Naughty Dog about their year old remaster of The Last of Us then say "who wants to play a game we've already played?"
- There is a BIG difference between remaking a game that is a year old, and still fresh on most people's minds, and remaking a game that is 20 years old. This isn't like remaking Grim Fandango, either. A game of this scale would require an epic budget to properly remake for next gen... and just because a few fans cry over the inte...
Be realistic about it. To give a modern game the full AAA treatment, it would need to have a AAA budget. Remaking an old classic RPG isn't going to sell as well as the original did, we're not all FF7 enthusiasts that are willing to drop more money into a game we've already played. I'm happy to get a remaster, and honestly in order to make this game full on next gen, it would need to simply be a new game, as they would not be able to do much with the old game without changing t...
Don't forget the better lighting, all while running at double the resolution and possibly double the framerate too.
It renders 2 960x1080p (half 1080p) screens, so it's still the same number of pixels as 1080p, but rendered from 2 perspectives. Oculus is the same currently. Both have said they might go for higher resolution. If they do, the games will just have to be made with those resolutions in mind. You may not see global illumination being used in a VR game, or some other fancy visual effect, in order to achieve higher frame rates and resolutions. PS4 is capable of hitting many resolutions, but yo...
There is a lot about competition that isn't "right" by many people's moral standards, but that doesn't mean it isn't done. On-disc DLC, paywalls locking you out of functionality that is already built into your console, microtransactions, it's a part of making money. If people will spend the money to support the practices, it will be done to make money... and I doubt there will be any shortage of PS4 owners lining up to play this game, and I doubt it will turn out...
It should do well now that MS has done the things I've said they would have to do all along in order to even be able to compete with PS4... 1) Drop DRM 2) Drop the price point to lower than PS4, since Xbox One has inferior hardware.
Now that both have been done, Xbox is now at a point where it has found a niche market. It no longer has to try to compete toe to toe with PS4. You may not get 1080p or stable framerates most of the time, but you aren't paying as much for...
Even with new characters, the general look would need to be preserved or IMO it would be taking too much away from each individual franchise. Art direction is a key element of any game, and you can't play around with that too much without killing the vibe of the game. Maybe Halo could bring a little color into Gears' brown world.
They were foolish to shut them down, as now most of them have formed their own studio and are making a game very similar to Wipeout that will be multiplatform. Sony lost a jewel of an exclusive with that stunt.
The art styles are too different. Gears uses bulky no-neck muscleman dudebro characters, Halo goes for the more normal looking human space marines. The two wouldn't look right alongside each other.
They did the same thing back when PS3 launched in France in 2007, by driving this boat by the launch event.

They downgraded Watch Dogs, why not this? I don't buy their "lighting bug" argument one bit. They definite weren't having any bugs when they released those bullshots.
Considering Uncharted 4, a very similar game as far as gameplay is concerned, is hitting at or near 60fps, I say you are full of it.
Considering Chartz notoriously undertracks Sony and overtracks MS, I'd wait for NPD before throwing the parade.
Driveclub sold over a million copies in its first week... just sayin'. However, I agree. This excuse is bull... It's called an Alpha and Beta testing period. Go open beta if you really need a stress test.
@double, first of all, thanks for talking about games and not who is butthurt and why.
To answer your question, I've been getting a lot of mileage out of war thunder (I know, only console exclusive, but it's really good.), driveclub (much better game than it was at launch), and TLOU. I have Killzone, but shooters aren't my favorite genre. Infamous was really cool but lacking in replay value. As for simpler games, Don't Starve is amazing (another console exclus...
Oh,the hypocrisy of someone calling someone a fangirl and then going on to exhibit every characteristic of a blind, ignorant fanboy/girl. Thanks for the laugh, Unspoken.
Both look similar, PS4 has more grass, better looking water (sea foam), and better anti aliasing at 2:15.
I wouldn't say bumping up the visuals caused any of the server troubles, they just didn't test the online aspects of this game enough. They didn't even have a beta. That is a fatal mistake this day and age with a game that relies on connectivity.
