Too all of you disagreeing with XStation4pio_Pro, I've been working in media production (film, TV, motion graphics, video production, video projection mapping) for 20 years. He knows what he is talking about. What we call "4K" is actually QFHD, or UHD. It falls short of actually hitting 4K resolution, which is typically only used in cinemas. That said, the reason why we don't have true 4K in the home is it is not a 16:9 format, and all of our TVs since the birth of HD have b...

Some solid looking games. Definitely MUCH more of a commitment than they gave to move or eyetoy, showing they're serious about this being more than just another add on device that gets forgotten in 2 years.

4K can really benefit gaming, but only when the games are crafted around the resolution, rather than low poly models and textures. Then, increasing resolution only makes the flaws in the image more apparent. You realize how much blurrier that texture is than it should be, or how blocky that character's face is, etc.

What about your first party devs, what do they think about it?

"Um, let me see... *whispers off into the corner cubicle* What do you think about it?"

Right... just built a PC with a Ryzen 7 1800x, 32gb 3000mhz DDR4, and a Geforce 10 series GPU, and a 500gb M.2 hard drive with 3.9GBps write and 1.7GBps read speeds that would eat XBO:X for lunch. I paid a bit over $1,500 for all of it. This system is easily 2-3x more powerful than XBO:X.

look at the ground textures on that second image, XBO:X vs. Pro, Pro's are actually sharper. Probably has to do with variations in the camera angle, though, there is no technical reason this should be the case. Otherwise, identical. As for those saying the images aren't 4K, this is true, but isn't that super sampling at 1080p on all games supposed to be an advantage of XBO:X?

Imagine a RTS type game where up to 4 people all play on their phones (each with a simplified version of the world map on it) while the main screen shows what is going on in much more detail. Or a game like worms using phones as an interface.

If this happens, it would pretty much confirm the parity clause rumors, I doubt Sony will shoot themselves in the foot like that, but we'll see. It could just be that Bungie can't talk about 4K on XBO:X as part of the agreement.

Since this article is comparing the rain effects, we shouldn't bother with things like car reflections, especially when one game/system is 2 years newer running on hardware 3-4x as powerful.

As for the rain... notice how much more realistic the water in DC behaves. When the drops move, they actually leave streaks of water behind them on the glass as they roll. The Forza drops do not. The depth of field effect (blurred foreground objects with background in focus, or vice...

The Xbox fanboys brought this upon themselves with their "fake 4K" posts in PS4 Pro articles, that is what the OP is referring to. We all always knew that XBO:X wouldn't hit native 4K on all titles. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know 6TF just isn't going to cut it for that. However, that didn't stop the fanboys from trolling Pro articles with that garbage, so now they get to eat their crow. Let them have it.

The switch can barely pull it off... battery life and resolution are both impacted, and that's on today's tech. I don't think a Vita TV would have taken off back then.

People are forgetting PS3's entry level price was $499... People are forgetting what happened to PS3 at launch. People are forgetting the original Xbox One launched at $499 against a cheaper PS4, and what happened with that. People are forgetting we are at the latter half of this generation, and Microsoft has 2-3 years at best to get its act together before PS5 will be due. They can't afford a slow launch and waiting for price cuts to move units if they expect XBO:X to pull them ahea...

Did you not see what happened to PS3? (Its base model was also $500) Until Sony lost all of PS2's profits trying to bail it out, it came out limping.
