Hmmm, I don’t know about this. I haven’t seen a store around that has any of the older models in stock so unless Nintendo would ship out older models in a BF bundle only (which would be incredibly lame) then I’d like to see someone put out which model number is on this bundle.
Reviewing games is a different than reviewing just about any other form of entertainment because of it being so interactive. Reviewing the pleasure or discomfort of that interactive piece will always be subjective regardless of the reviewers journalistic capabilities. Now should reviewers who don’t like specific genres of games be reviewing those types of games, probably not as you will have an inherent bias. I personally watched the US IGN review and didn’t find anything “trollish” about it....
I think any one honest with themselves knew this was going to be a divisive game. Kojima is an artist, and like many artists the taste is subjective. Judging by many the reviews it would seem that would be the case. Hopefully though it does well, Kojima is a rarity in an industry full of corporate mentality games, and even though this game isn’t for me, I hope it’s successful enough that he is still able to develop his style of games still in the future.
Ugh a sensationalist title... even if the PS5 launches at $499 it will be just fine. Probably won’t sell like the PS4 at launch at that price but assuming the games trickle in that first year, it will sell fine.
Now if the Xbox launches at like $399 at those same specs (it won’t at that price) then yeah the PS5 “could” play a little catch up in some regions. But I highly highly doubt the Xbox with the same specs as the PS5 will launch at a lower price than the PS5
Hmm, I don’t know about that. My wife and kids probably only noticed it extended my vocabulary for words that should not be said with people around. Not really sure that helped me as person though.
That’s not true. The PS2 and PS4 have shown to be extremely mass market in their respective launches. The Wii and Switch have also shown to be extremely mass market within their first year of launch. Video game console launches aren’t niche anymore, they can be as anticipated as a iPhone launch or even a blockbuster movie. That being said, price (and some times content) are extremely important to the launch window success. If at $500 you’ll see a great first month or two before flatlining, u...
A console over $450 will be a hard pill to swallow for mass market. Historically speaking most consoles over that amount (even at inflation) don’t have stellar launches.
Soooo we need a next gen storm chaser game, cause that would be awesome.
I got the SNES 3DS XL and the NES Gameboy advance SP via eBay. In terms of special edition consoles, I really want that Spider-Man PS4
Hm, I don’t agree most of this list (though there are some I’ve never played before).
For me it’s
Zelda II: Link’s Shadow (F’ing hard)
Super Mario 2: Wart (F’ing weird and unexpected)
Final Fantasy III: Kefka
Final Fantasy VII: sephiroth (I mean the music alone is epic)
Batman Arkham City: Clay face (pretty epic too)
Bloodborne: Shadow of Yharnam ( I died sooooooo many times on this one)
Legend of Zelda OoT: Final Ganon...
We’re finishing our basement, so I was researching a new tv and the whole 8k piece and it would seem that to notice 8k even as a difference from 4K, the tv would need to be 75” or higher. So yeah, I’m not investing $15k into a 75” 8k (as cool as it would be) tv anytime soon.
Gotcha that would make sense.
Did they say the PS5 was going to have 8k gameplay, or just 8k support? I bank on the latter for possible streaming services, 8k gameplay even at a dynamic scale seems far fetched (and pointless) at least for launch consoles
It will be interesting to see. Sony already, has their established 1st party studios providing good to great games and Microsoft will need to prove that all money spent acquiring developers will provide some excellent games this coming gen. I just hope it’s more competitive this next gen, no can (should) argue against all three console companies providing excellent games for us to choose from.
@OB1biker, @Unholylight, @rainslacker, yeah you guys are probably right, it’s too early to judge. I just feel like we had less information in 2012 than we do know, that to which helped build up speculation and hype to the PS4 and Xbox One ended up being. Hopefully though they give a little bit tidbits on possible launch games (outside of halo).
That’s very true and I stand corrected.
I would loooooove to see Horizon Zero Dawn 2 as a launch title. But oddly enough for as successful as PS systems have been, their launch lineups haven’t been stellar or really had that “one” game right away that made you need to buy it... same with Xbox for that matter. But either way I will purchasing a PS5 at launch because, it’s a new PlayStation, what more needs to be said?
I feel like the next gen reveal (so far) has been rather boring. Both consoles are essentially the same, spec wise, and really without knowing what games are coming and the less likelihood of any “major” launch title... there is definitely far less drama this go-around then the last console(s) reveals. Or maybe I’m just getting old and have been through this dog and pony show a few many times...
First off, hopefully they stick to the Switch/hybrid format, as Nintendo has the reputation of doing something different almost every gen. I’m sure the port support will obviously fade as the PS5 and Xbox “whatever” get going, but hopefully with whatever they do next will at least be able to get again some (Lesser)ports for the same hybrid format.
That’s true, good point. I was hoping the Switch Lite would be on sale or at least with a decent bundle to perhaps get my daughter her very first console... but it may have to wait until her bday next year.
