I agree, I'm on my second play through and I hardly feel or notice any consequences with choosing to go the "evil" route. A mortality system is only as good as the characters and story arc. Infamous' story is ok, it's not like a ToLU, it's not terribly engrossing or original and to implement a morality system where not only do you care about what it does to centralized characters but what it does to the world around them, is a tough feat to accomplish..
Free to Play games provide the enticing and alluring aspect of "it's a full game" with a lack of exposure of the game's pricing elements, an "ignorance is bliss" setup. Hardly any dev or publisher is up front with a F2P game's full cost. This model leaves publishers to push devs to add little incentives to keep a player going, for that next character, level, perk, ect without the reward of acomplishment but rather, "please add $.99 to move on." It ...
@SuperYakuzaFan the Metal Gears and Final Fantasy's help sell playstations, however no more than the Maddens, GTAs, FIFAs, and CODs.
@Jessika_S so you're saying if I don't go to Walmart, Target, or Bestbuy online, add an Xbox TitanFall to my cart it doesn't come out to 449.99 + tax??? It looks like it still does as of 2 mintues ago. Amazon will of course match those store's pricing as well.
I'm used to it... it's generally because I used basic math... 1 + 1 does not equal 2 here.
Technically no... but Walmart, Bestbuy, and Target have had it marked down for about two weeks now... it's like the sale that will never end, type of thing.
@andrewsqual and @joecanada... you two are joking me right? He's listing games he interested in just like everyone else does on this site... it's called preference. You want to act like people here don't list Sony exclusives that might or might not be real or just CGI trailers that they are "interested" in. People here are extremely interested in Uncharted 4 yet we've seen nothing on it.
Correction:
Xbox One TF Bundle + Xbox Live Gold= $510* (at most retailers)
PS4 + inFamous Second Son + PS Plus = $520
If you throw what you get with PS Plus (couple of free games right away) the PS4 is still technically a better value.
@PSN-JeRzYzFyNeSt technically you don't, but if you want to an apples to apples comparison you would throw in PS +
Until it's proven it's all hear-say. That $100 (or now $50) cost difference between the two systems is HUGE when considering what the PS4 will do right out of the box for 95% of all 3rd party games.
It's called basic math, assets are great, especially when you have to sell them off to make profit when you're normal revenue streams aren't creating any. 7 of the 11 things you listed are losing Sony money... in fact their best profit producing silo is a part them that has nothing to do with electronics and that's their insurance and financial branch. Nintendo's road isn't exactly paved with gold at the moment either, but it is a fact that Sony is in more financial ...
It does seem like a cash grab, especially since I'm sure the playstation now service will have it available. Either way though it's good for to play if they didn't get the chance on the ps3.
The question is why though? Generally there are two reasons for "leaving" a job; A. you find something better ie promotion or higher paying... though leaving Naughty Dog, I can't imagine what other first party studio would better at this moment, or B. you don't agree or don't see yourself as long term asset to the company. Either way I would love to know why someone would want to leave NaughtDog.
BTW I didn't hit disagree...
When it rains it pours I guess.
Outside of content, eliminating motion sickness for a VR set will go a long way for mainstream acceptance. This "uncanny valley" effect is interesting. I can't imagine too many gamers complaining about not having photo realism and straight human movement capture as a deterrent from making VR enjoyable. Good article though.
It probably could be done though without 1080p, destructible environments, MP, or decent AI (which seriously these next gen developers need to take the next step on). But after all that why bother? It's not going sell well.
I know every situation is different but anytime a developer says we can't do a game within the same generation of consoles, I always think back to when Squaresoft said they couldn't do Final Fantasy VII on the N64 because cartridges couldn...
Right!? It's called money, when developing a game on the PS4 and Xbox1 from the start, it would take some money and time to port it over to the Wii U... It's not like Arkham City or Origins sold well on the Wii U, so why bother porting it over? Saying it's not capable of doing what they want it do on the PS4 and Xbox is obviously true in terms of power, but to say the game can't be done on the Wii U is more than likely false.
How are we at a final conclusion on two systems that are barely 5 months old, and another that's barely over a year old? I think a final review would be more applicable to the PS3/Xbox360/Wii at this point in time... I mean think about at this same time frame last gen, PS3 would have been unfairly reviewed due to price and the six axis controller, the Xbox360 would have been viewed as stable hardware (before the noticeable RRoD effect), and Wii probably would looked like the most engagi...
Awesome. Hopefully this happens this year.
Wait wait wait, just because last year they had two separate Xbox one announcements one to showcase the media capabilities otherwise known as the "foot in mouth" show, then the E3 show to do the "reverse 180" show" does not mean they will not showcase media capabilities separate from E3 this year. Because if I go back to 2010 30 minutes in, 2011 28 minutes in, or 2012, 35 minutes in they are talking some heavy home media stuff. One E3 does not excluding from making ...
I get that, but what was great about ToLU or the Walking Dead and the characters, is that really cared what they did and why they did it. I would like to feel that when a choose a morality route for Delisn that I felt compelled to do so rather than it merely just opening up a new upgrade or slightly different story line. We've come along way with games and story telling that I truly believe delevopers are capable of adding in a morality situtation that makes us think and care.
