I agree with Rockband and Street Fighter, but I heavily disagree with the COD/BF/TitanFall games usually are only as fun as the competition which is usually laced with cheaters, 10yr olds, or the people you'd seriously worry if there was something mentally wrong with them.

And I know Nintendo needs a pretty big reaction to something... anything that they could show off to draw in more gamers, honestly I can think of maybe 3-5 times there was a general excitement in crowd due to an E3 announcement; Obviously last years PS4 no-drm thing, the Twilight Princess announcement, the PSP reveal, the Wii reveal. But if we think back to all the things that can/do go wrong during a stage conference... Nintendo can ill afford one of those.
Why does it matter to the 99% of us at home watching whether they are on stage or in studio somewhere? We're all just going to be streaming all 3 conferences on our computers, tablets, gaming devices. The point is always what they show and say, and this year's conference is going to have to be pretty spectacular or revolutionary to have them going in the right direction.
