I don't know Nintendo saw the causal market as their "main" market with the Wii... at first. I honestly believe they thought that "core" gamers would flock to the new system because of the change in gameplay, but causals just dominated the demand for it and core/hardcore sort of revolted against it. The demand is something even nintendo didn't plan for with the limited production they had in the system the first couple of years.
It helps that 3r...
Sounds like some sour grapes there noob. Not only did the Wii win the generation it wasn't even a competition and for the love of god do some fact checking before you spout off, the NES, SNES, and Wii won their respective generations against some formidable competition.
I love to hear your argument against that, but oh wait darn it the whole one bubble thing must sting a little.
That's funny there Noob because at least we know how to spell and write actual English lol. But you'll get it I promise, just keep practicing, just like Nintendo, small victories, am I right?
Swing and a miss...
Sort of, they went back and forth a few years, I believe PS3 outsold the 360 in 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2013. 360 won 2007, 2009, 2012.
Never said that the all the regions that Microsoft is not in would have a direct sales percentage of the ones they are in (ie Japan). But to that point if they were to be out sold 2:1, 5:1, or even 10:1, logic would state that their sell through numbers would be larger. I am in no means saying they would match or maybe be with a million of what the PS4 has done already, but the gap would surely be smaller than it is.
It's simply amazing how many people just fail at logic here. Divide the sales for PS4 7million over availability 72 countries, then do the same for the Xbox with 5 million over 13 countries and still tell me Xbox is doing poorly. I also love how the "PS4 will be soon doubling the overall Xbox sales base"... again do the math that will take another year, year and half to accomplish and that's assuming price, games, and availability remain constant.
It definitely helps, plus the momentum the Playstation rode off of the Xbox reveal (and it's sub-subsequent online policies) have just snowed balled for them. Plus Sony has been pushing updates and new info on games that they have in development whenever possibly, I think a lot of people are waiting to what if anything appealing Microsoft has coming up before taking the Xbox plunge.
It's on pace to sell in the 70-80 million range and the PS4 is on pace for the 90-110 million range... I'd have to say that's pretty damn fantastic for both companies. But in the end it's all about the dollar profit that is created, it doesn't matter if you sell one or one billion, if you'd didn't make any money then technically you lost.
Also don't use math logic on this site... I'm convinced that 1 +1 doesn't equal 2 here...
Terrible marketing no must have launch titles and 350 price to start definitely did not help it and really continues to plague it.
@beastnoob and yet after all that nintendo STILL makes more money on gaming than Sony, shocking...
Please don't speak to that which you know nothing about noob.
Exactly right. While Wii u is easy to develop for, it's also it's own very unique architecture too and not X86 based like the other two consoles making it easier and cheaper to port to one another. Developers, while not exactly all lazy, need the ability for costs sake to have a more unified architecture or PC based rather than being different and unique
While yes the Wii U sales are not good, the comparisons are just completely apples and oranges. The Dreamcast lost Sega millions (Wii u is breaking even but losing money on marketing and software development), it was sold at a significant loss, and then when the PS2 launched they had to discount to even try to keep the consumers attention. The system was praised for being very developer friendly (something the Wii u is not). Not to mention the gaming landscape in 1999 was vastly different,...
I've been replaying FFVII on the vita and I will say it has not aged well. The story, setting, and the turn-based materia system still work well... it's the script, characters, and actions of those characters that needs to be revamped. In the generation we are exposed to with the Uncharted, ToLU, Fallouts, and Skyrims of the world, we've seen some fantastic writing, acting, and characters. Playing through FFVII and reading the text, watching the character models, would be laugh...
I couldn't get that link to work. According to Yahoo and Google's financial sheet Sonys cash flow is closer to 5 billion (US) and has decreased year or year for the past 3 years. The sell of the SquareEnix shares frees up that money that 1. either they can free up some debt (16.7bil) 2. re-invest (hopefully) 3. Or hold on to meet quartly expectations. Either it's good move as Square isn't exactly a booming company, but Sony needs money. Cash-reserves is essentially an emer...
It's essentially what investors call "plugging of the ship." It's an easy move for Sony to make and it reduces their liability with some of their cash. What you want to see if them turn around and re-invest... sadly though they really do need that money.
This is sell was far less about Square as it is about Sony
As you shouldn't, it's refreshing to read an honest opinion such as yours. I just wish more people felt this way.
Great blog, unfortnately it will fall on a lot of deaf ears here. I get why people draw "lines in the sand" with their console decisions, especially if they can truly only afford one console. Everyone wants their purchase to be justified with their hard earned cash. When I was growing up and having only a Nintendo system(s), I secretly wanted a Sega Genesis but would never admit to such. It wasn't until I was in High School and I got a job that I was able to own two systems ...
Duh, Nintendo needs to market the hell out of that bundle and not just on Disney, Cartoon Network, or nickelodeon. I'm talking Fox, FX, TBS, NBC, ABC, where-ever they can also show adults that a new great looking Mario-kart is on the way.
What do all these changes mean in terms of a release? I mean this game typically highly focused on presentation/story/acting and these changes have to have had a delay on everything... I was really hoping for an early 2015 release but now I'm not so sure...
