Flame-bait speculation and assumptions in all their unjustified glory posted today. Too bad I fell for it...
Are they talking about and image hit or a finacial hit the Micorsoft can't afford to make? Cause I'm pretty sure Microsoft has more than enough money to take a few risks. Not mention these same exact articles came out about Netflix's original programming and how that was going to be a costly mistake... seems to working out for them just fine.
While agree with the central point that Nintendo needs to make changes, there is a lot of speculation thrown into this article that becuase the Wii U isn't selling Nintendo will not do another home console. The virtual boy didn't sell, did they stop with home consoles then? How about the Sega Saturn? The GameCube? Heck even the Xbox lost a ton of money and wasn't exactly a commerical success. I don't know what Nintendo plans to do outside of gaming, but I'd more than wi...
Oh I get it, and it's smart for them to fill in the gaps between new(er) releases to avoid the infamous, "system xyz has no games" tagline. I'm just kind of looking off in future for this year... and seems kind of barren outside of hand full of titles.
I could honestly seem them pulling out 2 of those 3 this E3. I'd really like to see Nintendo take a stab at heavy presenation/story game a la TLOU, Uncharted, or Metal Gear.
I think it's safe to say the day the Wii U fanboys say the Wii U is failing or has failed, will be the day that PS fanboys admit that Sony, as business, is failing.
Are you going to be at E3? if not what's the difference if there or not?
I just hope the big 3 give us more hope this new gen outside of remakes, reboots, and sequels. I'm sure we'll see some new IPs, I'm justing hoping they went be too far out in terms of a release.
And yet swimming in billions is still a vaild point...
I think the title is a bit misleading, but overall good points on Nintendo being a bit more guarded and controlling these days... but is that such a bad thing? When the media is in your favor, you can't do anything wrong, but when it's not... there's no denying the need or ability to be a bit guarded until you prove the direction you want to take.
Evencore Wealth Managment, Putnam Investments, Edward Jones "did" have a 3% guarantee but they ended that program at the end of the year. Montley Fool is an ok program for people who want to dip into the "investment" pool but I could recommend about a dozen who perform better for the cost.
Trust me, the firm I work for tested their hypothesis with many of their "tech" stock advice. We signed up to do some competitive analysis, we I think like 3k for the service, we got constant spam, following their tech advice only* we invested 25k and grew it about 3.1% year over year. A reasonable rate is about 6%. They don't guarantee anything either.
Microsoft isn't offering a paid subscription outside of their own content. That's the difference. ...
I looked at the source of the article... and yet took the bait. Can't imagine Microsoft is aiming at Netflix for direct competition, but rather, as an alternative to paid original programming like HBO, Starz, or Showtime. The guys at Montley Fool are some of the worst investment guidence articles on the web.
Those were two very good gaming reveals, but at the point, the media had already helped make the Wii a runaway success. I just remember watching the GC verison of Smash Bros and Metroid Prime revealed and it did nothing for the GC sales. I remember watching the general excitment for the 3DS reveal and that thing struggled in the begining. I think the stage presentation(s) are little over hyped generally, but since they are "tradional" we get a little disappointed if Nintendo deci...
This could be said about all prequels/sequels, but seriously, how could Uncharted 5 hurt the PS4? How could a Halo 5 hurt the Xbox1? Yes, gaming this generation needs some innovation outside of presentation and graphic upgrades, but every console needs it's "staple" franchise to push sales. While I'm not personally expecting "revolutinary" gameplay from either Uncharted or Halo, I can't fathom the idea that the experience playing them won't make me happy...
It's only a disappointment if you set your expectations beyond what anyone, you're a fan of, can deliever... and you're clearly not a fan, so why bother?
Just show us some cool, new, musthave games Nintendo and I don't care where you do the presenation from. I'm actually trying to think when Nintendo last had an E3 that a positive reaction and then actually helped out as a company... seriously... they've had some great presentations and crowd reactions that have failed to boost their sales.
While Iwata is hella awkward in that lone white room, its not like they haven't had positive crowd feedback to game/system reveals with little consumer support behind it. I mean the gamecube had quite a few awesome game reveals noteably Zelda TP, Metroid, and SmashBros, and system virtually sold nothing. DS/3DS were great reveals that started very slowly selling. I do like the "stage" presentations, but I don't think it's entirely neccessary this day and age. I will ...
While disappointing, let's face it, it's about the games, if they don't show up with some new(er) games, IPs, or game changing elements... it wouldn't matter if they were at E3 or in you're living room, it still be disappointing. Nintendo has also had some big reveals with large (positive) crowd reactions that have done nothing for them; 3DS, Zelda TP, Smash Bros (gamecube)... it's not like the PS4 "we play used games, and it's only going to cost $399" s...
Yeah the guy is referencing a Forbes article that references an Examiner article that about a rumor that an analyst believes Microsoft is hiding their losses of the Xbox with Android royalties. This of course "could" be true but not stated like fact in the video.
I love disagrees with posted numbers that are facts. Gotta love this site!
Ok, I read the article, I just wasn't sure. But they can afford to take the image hit just as well... I mean they are still rolling along just fine after Windows CE, Vista, Zune, Surface, Windows 8... I'm pretty sure the possibility of failed tv shows isn't going to the downfall of their image.
