As much as I am excited for Nintendo's E3 (and the rest of E3), I almost feel like the gaming media is building it up too much. Of course Nintendo has a lot riding on this particular E3, but it feels like one of those cases where; "lets build it up, so we can tear it down later." Its happened a lot over the past couple of Nintendo Directs, mysterious hype, then the nit-picking afterwards. There aren't too many articles going around hyping the Playstation 4 or Xbox 1 E3 show...
"The current, revitalized E3, has gone away from this model, choosing spectacle over substance in general" This statement right here says it all to me. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed or franky uncomfortable watching E3 live presentations. The jokes, are typically awful, the demos barely work, and the messages that the are conveyed just seem uninformative. But in all seriousness, if Sony and Microsoft moved to streaming event to showcase what they ...
How is that even remotely a good comparsion? Why don't I compare Super Mario fps to Tekken 6?
It's a lousy game of king of the mountain, fanboys of their respective system don't want other systems competeting in specs/resolution so they to knock of anything that might come close. It seems that is going to be the point of contention for majority of this generation, as annoying as it to discuss. The whole argument of, "hey is this game fun or not?" is thrown out the window now. Arguing whether the Wii U is as powerful as the PS4 because it can produce 1080/60fps is ...

Whether some of these people commented in jest or truth, maybe some don't "believe" Nintendo would reveal a new console, but I think a lot were/are "hopefully" they would.
I think that would be a good idea, they need to figure out ways to make the system have a lower cost, to them and the consumers, to get the systems to fly off the shelves this year. That gamepad is expensive for them to produce...
Any one expecting a new console reveal is kidding themselves. Could it be a remodel, sure, could it be newer look to the 3DS, possibly... but a brand new system is extremely far fetched.
I didn't really know we were discussing gamers opinions on Nintendo but what actually happened with the Nintendo-Sony fallout from SNES-CD rom deal? It would be hard to believe that too many people hold a grudge from a broken business deal from over 20 years ago or the cartridge format for that matter. If I wanted an biased gamers opinion on Nintendo, I sure as heck wouldn't ask too many people here. I didn't even know Archie comics were even brought up... like ever...
Well I don't really feel explaining the concept of Google but here are a few:

"Nintendo went the ass backward route they are still taking and every other console went on ahead." What the heck are talking about? If the end game is for a machine to have the most home console units sold? Then cool, looks like Sony wins that. But its, to you know, make money and survive, Nintendo is looking just fine at the "rich kids table."
Also there are just a ton of documentation to how Sony wanted full rights and licensing to any Nintedo gam...
@HeWhoWalks while I agree that I don't think Sony will go bankrupt, because believe they are put in that group "too big to fail" category, and would be bailed out. However you look at their recent MarketCap the conclusion is pretty simple... time is running real thin before the Japanese gov could take over.

Shhhhh! You can't say that on here or else your comment or article will get pulled since Sony losing a billion of dollars isn't related to gaming!
lol I've been denied a few times posting Sony Financial articles, saying it "Sony's financial position has no relevance to gaming." It's still an interesting topic and one we should be aware of, Electronic manufacturing (or video games for that matter) is an extremely tough business to stay profitable in.
Seriously... I have to stop that too.
I just curious... where did you pull $180 from? That just seems so random...
People don't "causally" tune into E3. Dedicated gamers do, dedicated gamers who know who's presenting when/where/and due to media leaks what. You're assuming that people who are on the fence about Nintendo (as whole) will be watching E3 and wondering "where's Nintendo?" That's probably a valid point, however, it's not like IGN or SpikeTv isn't going to cover what Nintendo announces. Nintendo isn't so far off that they will be ignored enti...
I still don't get what the big deal is from not doing a traditional presentation. Is it just that, tradition? Are we all so caught up smoke effects, broken demos, sweaty presenters, and enough press cell phones/tablets/laptops lit up to be seen from space that we can't just watch one non-live online presentation? To all those who argue that their E3 presentation last year was terrible, it's because they had nothing to show, it would have been viewed far worse on stage than over...
I think this generation will be far shorter than the last. Technology is becomming faster, smaller, cheaper, at quicker rate this decade. It won't be long before our phones/tablets have the same computing and graphical power that our consoles have.
@Jazz4108 what are you talking about, they are going to be at E3 just not doing a stage presentation. And since you aren't part of the press and I believe stage presentations are invite only, you wouldn't be attending Nintendo's showcase if even you wanted to.
I think the bigger story is showcasing some of what the Wii U is graphically capable of. 1080/60 fps aside, the game looks abosolutely fantastic, will this finally quiet the critics that they system isn't as powerful as the 360/PS3 or can't/won't come close (but it is not equal) to games in the Xb1/PS4... probably not. Bottom line is the game looks fantastic and looks like a blast to play.
