What? Starcraft 2? The undisputed heavy-weight graphics king of the century? Yes, I'm sure the average console player would die to play it.
Starcraft 2 can be played by anyone with a PC, and it generally is, hence the massive fanbase for Blizzard's games. The same thing can be said of WOW. It's diverse on the basis that they make these games for everyone to play, and it still maintains a niche.
It's not the meat-headed, hand-holding 3rd person...

Thanks for ticking my boxes bro.
Interesting story by Jim, but I don't think it grasps the whole story when it comes to PC gaming. One thing he is right about is "open-mindedness" when it comes to predominantly PC gamers. They tend to be more mature, and willing to try different things.
The console crowd, while not exactly the more casual, are impressed by Triple-A exclusives and big budget games. They aren't ground-breaking games by any stretch, but they look good, so who cares? Anything ...
I see where you are coming from, but in an industry like this, they have critics chosen to review specific franchises or genres of a game. They won't choose someone unaccustomed to FPS's to play and review Resistance 3, and it's evident that he's played the previous games in the series.
I understand you have an opinion, if you like the game I hold nothing against you. I haven't played it yet so I can't comment, but it's still subjective. What may a...
@TheOneYouHate, Uhhhh...what?
What do you think a critic is? A critic doesn't review games for another person's taste. Insomniac, as good as they are as a developer, work no harder on a game than a number of other top-echelon developers.
Critics review games according to their own personal taste. They can do this for 3 reasons. Firstly, they can pick up a controller and play video-games. They may not be the best in the world at them, but if they can g...
What a surprise. This guy offers a legitimate opinion and the disagrees come in without any replies.
Thanks you N4G, for maintaining the dumbest gamers on Earth.
So it just so happens that anything that gives the game an 8 or below is worthy of more criticism than any other website?
I liked your defensive eurogamer comment as well.
I'm sure you'll lap up anything IGN or G4TV feeds you.
Have fun.
Well, you didn't read the site, so yes, very much so.
Obviously you didn't read the review, because it doesn't start with that comment.
They also gave it an '8', suggesting that the game isn't perfect.
Shake the fanboy attitude and enjoy the game.
Then give it an 8.5. The critic is a different person with different tastes.
Argh, it would have been so great to see Upper Hengsha. Alas, the game they've made is still the best I've played thus far this year. It's a rare amalgamation of story, art-style and level design that few games can hope to achieve. It honours the original whilst remaining a singular work.
I don't mean to toot Eidos Montreal's horn here, but it has been a long time since a game has enthralled me like this.
The only thing that is more redundant than the series itself is the replies given by the haters.
Yes, thank you, we get it.
Why do people feel the need to place the blame on CoD fans? I dedicate a number of hours to both titles and I'm well aware that it's retarded to even suggest that Battlefield 3 should be running at 60fps on console. No Call of Duty nut is going to laugh at the fact that it runs at 30fps, given the fact that 95% of FPS's run at that frame-rate. I personally prefer my games running at 60 frames. If it isn't a viable option on console, I'll get it for PC instead, and vice ver...
Thanks for the correction bro.
@badz, Square Enix distributed, but didn't develop.
There are gamers of all types. If you were invited to attend the event of your favourite franchise, you'd probably feel the same way.
How dare they have a good time.
You can be fined an obscene amount of money for importing Left 4 Dead 2 here, trust me, it has happened.
There are a few games that can slide though, but this is none-the-less a historic moment for mature gamers in this country.
Human Revolution has possibly leap-frogged Portal 2 as my personal GOTY. It's been quite a long time since I've dropped a game in and felt so good about it. The soundtrack absolutely drenches it in atmosphere and they give you all the super-soldiering freedom you could ask for.
Kudos Ubisoft, Montreal.
It's a vicious cycle, I'll agree with you there. What is lost on most of the gamers though is that Infinity Ward and Treyarch don't so much want to make these games as they are forced to churn them out each year by Activision. Given the short development time for each game, it's difficult to revolutionise the series in any way, which is why they come across as tweaked, but mostly re-skinned.
The question is, if you are in Bobby Kotick's position, do you co...
Yes, we've heard this argument an innumerable amount, but there is absolutely no reason to update the engine. It's fine. Most, if not all Call of Duty players play the game because it runs at a blistering speed on console, not because it's mind-blowing visually.
The look is clean, crisp and good enough to compete with the current generation of games without sacrificing the fast pace.
I'm ready for a big amount of disagrees and few replies.
Interesting that they didn't boot the frame-rate right up to 60fps, perhaps it was an artistic decision.
