Call of Duty hasn't changed because they don't want to split the community. Consider Battlefield 2. The community split into two parties when Bad Company released because the changes made were forward-thinking for some, and regressive for others. The game was tweaked for the console generation and it alienated a whole host of players. There are pros and cons to both.

I can assure you of one thing, 6 months down the line, more people will be playing Battlefield 2 and 3...

I was reading this list and wondering what was out of the ordinary. Sounds like a list of Beta bugs to me. Anyone making a decision on whether to cancel their purchase of the game based on the Beta code is downright naive. Dice didn't have to provide an early access Beta to a vast number of gamers. The majority of which won't even go to the Dice/Battlefield forums to inform them of the bugs in a rational manner. It should be considered a privilege to TEST this game early. Test being t...

Because the multiplayer in Uncharted 2 was surprisingly full-featured and addictive? It's just as important to the longevity of the title as the campaign will be. I'm not sure what the numbers are like, but there are always a lot of people playing Uncharted 2 online, more than a number of PS3 exclusive titles and it can be unbelievably fun. One game of plunder is enough to convert anybody.

I'm pretty sure the more disagrees I get without replies, the more it vindicates my argument, haha.

I'm not sure what people were expecting. It's Battlefield. It feels like Battlefield, plays like Battlefield, only without the full-formed polish of a regular Battlefield title.

This is where I have problems with the N4G community and most of the Call of Duty haters. They'll complain endlessly when another Call of Duty drops due to repetition. Well I have news for the hypocrites, aside from a fantastic new coat of paint, Battlefield is still Battlefield. The gamep...

People disagreeing with this?

Do we need to put "THIS IS JUST A JOKE" in capital goddamn letters for fanboys to understand?

Yeah I gotta say, this is one of the most complete and intelligently written reviews IGN have dropped in some time.

Pretty much indicative of Battlefield as a whole. Fun to play, tedious to watch. Caspian Border is huge, but still extremely well designed. It really does hark back to the oldest of Battlefield games, as well as 2. Essentially it works as two different gaming experiences. Dogfights can literally take the whole game up, while ground combat requires supreme map knowledge and good vantage points. Like in real life, I don't get into a car unless I know the person who's driving :)

@dcortz2027, wow. Very subtle buddy, very subtle.

It's still impossible to deny that this is PS3 centred community here. In comparing the two Beta's, those differences are negligible at best, given the two games run and play almost identically. The PS3 also came away with a higher scree-tearing percentage, which affects gameplay more than bloom effects and sharper textures. Deny that if you want, I'm willing to bet I'll get more disagrees given Dice's backing of the PS3 version. People expect it to be leagues ahead of the...

The logistics of Battlefield 3 are definitely closer to Call of Duty than any other title in the series, but it still feels distinctly Battlefield. It takes fewer bullets to kill, you can strafe-sprint and I've been drop-shot on a few occasions too. I think close-quarter confrontations in general feel better overall. Other than that, it barely feels like I've moved out of Bad Company 2, and I mean that in a good way. The transition is sweet.

Make no mistake though, a...

I played the Tomba demo for more hours than most games. Unbelievable game.

@St0

I know you're not a fanboy. I'm just saying that the rendering architect at Dice, Johan Andersson, stated that both versions of the game run at 1280x704. I'd say he's just about the closest thing to Lens of Truth or Digital Foundry at this stage.

They look practically identical. If you want to nitpick, the 360 version is slightly blurry over a distance and one screen has a tear at the bottom. Couldn't say whether either game has tearing issues yet. Negligible complaints to make at best. In motion, it'll be virtually impossible to discern the difference.

Both are running sub-720p on console. Confirmed on twitter.

Thank Christ. The matchmaking for Australian gamers in MW2 was ATROCIOUS. I don't think I went a single play session without host migration issues and lag problems.

In regard to grenades, I feel like I've been able to throw them further in Battlefield 3 than I have in Black Ops. One technique I've always been accustomed to is jumping the moment the grenade is released to get a few more feet. Harder to get accustomed to in BF3 because you don't get the option to cook and you'll very likely give away your position with such a crazy manoeuvre.

I think they could have gone a little deeper with this article, but at least it ma...

Funniest thing about this comparison: People can't tell which is which.

Why not? It's a service and concept that deserves to be recognised and will probably develop into something much larger in a few years.

I'm probably one of the few to say that I was hugely disappointed by Dead Space 2. Completely lacked the scares that the first game had in favour of more action orientated gameplay. It played fine, but there are only so many times you can tolerate monster closets before they become repetitive.

This setting sounds like it can change the dynamic of the game.
