It's completely subjective. I've had some of the best times playing multiplayer games. Goldeneye, Timesplitters 2, Counter Strike etc. None of them are my absolute favourite games, but it doesn't discount the fact that they're still hour-chewing bliss.
Sometimes, happiness is best spent shared.
If you ask me, the Beta sold me on the game completely. I loved it, but if anyone thought it was reminiscent of the final product, you are, as the article title suggests, stupid.
I generally call it Jim Sterling Syndrome. You know, when people go off at the score without actually reading the review?
I wonder what Infinity Ward did with the guy responsible for Modern Warfare 2's bloody screen. Hopefully they stuck something similar into his eyeballs and he accidentally walked over a cliff, because it easily takes the cake as the most obnoxious "blood screen" of all time.
What does it mean if I own both consoles? Mature?
I honestly could not given less of a crap about the console war. I just derive fun from reading some of the most ridiculously biased garbage on the web via N4G's predominantly PS3 fanbase.
I own more games on my PS3, play it more often than my 360, and have owned it longer. The people here make me feel guilty for even owning the damn thing because they're completely over the top in their defence.
Agreed. I literally can't believe some of the posts I'm reading. The guy before your post is happy that it won't show up on metacritic. I mean, really? What the hell is going on with some people?
It's a subconscious reaction. They might not know that it runs at 60 frames, but they'll notice that its fast and more frenetic than most, hence why more people play it over a variety of other FPS's. The pace of the game is equalised by performance. You don't need to know the technicality of it, you just feel it.
I'm not the biggest Call of Duty fan, but to say it needs a new engine is kind of ridiculous. What most non-fans don't understand is that the majority of people that play the game online don't care about the visuals. As long as it runs at 60fps on a console and maintains the same level of controller response, they'll be happy. It's far from being a bad looking title regardless.
Battlefield 3 is always there for those that want the visual component, but eve...
Do not take this seriously. This article takes those quotes WAY, WAY out of context. At no point does Carmack "blame" Sony for anything. Nor does he mention that the console is "inferior". He has a preference to develop on the 360, but he simply offers ideas to improve the PS3's accessibility.
The title of this article makes me sick. Why is he trying to rouse up the PS3 crowd? GamingBolt is a joke.
Personally, I don't find Greg Miller to be a very good critic or journalist, but the members at IGN sink so much lower. The dispute over scoring is ridiculous in general, and there aren't any gaming websites using the same critiquing methods.
IGN basically created the "8.5 or GTFO" score ratio. That's not to say Arkham City doesn't deserve 9.5, it probably does, but they've given younger gamers and IGN members the impression that anything below t...
There are a multitude of reasons as to why it did poor sales, few of which have to do with the quality of the game. Poor marketing, tough schedule, competing with an inordinate amount of industry heavy-weights, popular FPS juggernauts, falls awkwardly between more favoured exclusives like Killzone and Uncharted etc. I myself haven't even purchased the game yet. I loved Fall of Man, but Resistance 2 was a disappointment for me, hence a disinterest in the franchise. Maybe others felt the sa...
Just take my whole damn wallet Level 5.
I want to play this bad boy right now.
How does an 8.5 "ruin" the metacritic score? You think if this game is dropped one metric point from 98 to 97 that it'll be the difference for someone?
@omi25p, That is unequivocally rubbish. Thank God it's the last post you can make.
Sterling is the REVIEW EDITOR, meaning he has precedence over most of the staff working at Destructoid to review the games. You don't question Brandon Jones at Gametrailers for reviewing 95% of the games released in any given year?
He gave Killzone 3 a 10. Going against the grain of popular opinion to give it a score I'm sure most of the PS3 fanboys didn't give ...
Can't believe the hate against this score. Did anyone read the review? It justifies the score completely, you know, given that it is HIS OPINION.
The guy is a realist, he isn't confined by regular gaming reviewing conventions. Destructoid doesn't go by the general "anything under an 8.5 is garbage" scale.
Forget that though. Why doesn't he pile on the cheese like Greg Miller does? Why didn't he give it a 9 or above like every oth...
IT'S AN 8.5.
8 POINT 5.
HOW IS THAT EVEN BAD?
I've heard the main story quests take about 8-12 hours, but there is an unbelievable amount of content otherwise.
I gotta say, that's a pretty naive PC comment. You aren't forking out $1000 every year. If you were though, wouldn't that suggest that you WERE doing something constructive with your life? I mean, if you're earning enough to drop a "supposed" $1000 on it every year? PC players play their games on bigger rigs for performance, for response and for mouse/keyboard advantage. It's rarely for graphical advantage, that's just a marginal bonus.
Does this mean Greg Miller's reviewing it? Good God. No one should have to be subjected to Miller's childish writing.
I work at EB Games in Aust. I can confirm that UC3 stock has been delivered (received it on Friday). There's no way we'd be able to take a copy home before the intended release date. Definitely wouldn't feel right about it either.
