Oh wow. The bias argument is back. These people may as well conspire against the World Trade Centre attacks or tell the authorities about UFO sightings as well.
For anyone to believe that Edge is deliberately subtracting score levels to irritate the PS3 fan-base is beyond ridiculous and pointless. I love that you threw in (statistical(ly) proven), when in fact, it can't be until you compile just about every review they've written in this generation. If any of the memb...
He's pretty accurate with his arguments in this review. Battlelog is a poorly implemented server function/social network and it doesn't really nail either. The campaign (as is the case with all Battlefield campaigns) is short, dull and not very reminiscent of online play.
I mean, you can argue your own opinion all you like, but at no point did I think a 7.5 was wrong for this article.
Thank God for David Jaffe. If it took a developer to finally say this, then I am so pleased it was him:
"the only reason it's been labeled 'controversial' has nothing to do with the review itself and everything to do with the sad state of game consumers who have been so effectively conditioned by a number of the gaming press/gaming PR machines that these gamers leap to a title's defense-not that this gem of a game needs defending- without even being open...
Staggering texture detail and sound design. It really is the complete aural/visual package on a maxed out PC.
Sterling had final word in making Uncharted 2 GOTY in '09 for the website.
One of the most honest critics game journalism has to offer and all N4G can come up with is "getting hits" and "craves attention". At the very least, he isn't as redundant as the people here with their arguments.
I'm hoping for a few states ala San Andreas. Can never go too big if you ask me.
Imagine if they do another Liberty City game. The uproar would be insane.
I actually though Gametrailers review of UC2 was waaaay more in-depth than UC3. In fact, I watch it frequently. I think it's the best review they've ever done.
Great games will score 8's people, the sun will also rise tomorrow and come November, you will still be buying the game on release day.
Opinions are perfectly legal.
Nailed it with this quote:
"As thrilling as the action segments prove, if you’re looking for Uncharted 3 to keep a nonstop dosage of adrenaline flowing into your IV drip, you may grow fidgety at times. Several key sequences in the game, including an early flashback that finds Drake poking around a Colombian museum and trailing a slow-moving target, slacken the game’s pace deliberately. Uncharted 3 builds resonance into these pauses for breath. A late-game meander across ...
As much as I can't stand reading about Greg Miller having a jizzgasm, this almost assures me that it will be even better than Uncharted 2.
I scrolled past this thumbnail thinking it was Crash Bandicoot related, with the colours and everything.
Pretty close.
Supremely fake. As bad as IGN's writing can be, it won't be as poorly structured and glaringly over the top as that.
Bro, you joined barely two days ago and you're already on the trolltastic bandwagon? You don't have to make it so obvious.
Just enjoy yourself friend. Why limit yourself to two titles this holiday?
There are no "bullcrap" complaints in this review. It's roughly translated into english, so we can barely understand it as it is.
In reviewing a game, the score is an instinctual feeling for the game. Sometimes it doesn't represent the written critique, but it justifies that persons overarching OPINION. Uncharted 2 is polished technical achievement that most games can only hope to achieve. Would I give it a 10/10 though? Maybe close to it, but probably not. ...
@Gun Fisher, you do realise that the website is very roughly translated into english? "Finally better animations" could be taken in a number of ways.
Also, IT IS AN OPINION PIECE. You might not have a problem with the stealth system at all. Maybe he was expecting more. I hate how often I need to point this out to people.
I went to an internet cafe back in the day just to play Counter Strike. 3-4 hour sessions almost every time I dropped by. I haven't had so much fun in LAN battles since then. CS:S isn't too bad, but it can't match 1.6 in its prime.
I'll be diving straight into hard and crushing for this bad-boy. I'm hoping to clock around 12-15 hours. If it's as long as Uncharted 2, I'll be thoroughly impressed.
@BuT, They're reviewing for a different demographic, not comparing them.
I have to say, after the last trailer they released, this one comes across as a disappointment. I'm still going to pick it up, but the Battlefield 3 launch trailer really bowled me over.
Thanks for the "irrefutable statistical evidence" proving otherwise.
The metacritic ideal seems to be the weapon of choice. That if the majority of gaming websites adhere to the critiquing conventions that most gamers are accustomed to (i.e. follow the metacritic trend), they won't be looked down upon. A gross misrepresentation right off the bat. Edge is considered a tough outfit by general game reviewing standards, that is no secret, but showing bias towards a ...
